Question about Swedish pronunciation, just one word...?
In the Swedish word "fel," I often in conversation pronounce the word "fejl," with the same vowel sound as "tjej" or "grej." I have heard "fel" pronounced a lot of different ways, and I realize that there are very heavy dialect differences in Swedish as well. But I listen to a lot of Scanian music, and I'm wondering if this "fejl" pronunciation is just my music seeping into my speech. So my real question is, is this a dialectal thing, and if it is, do I sound absolutely ridiculous if I speak Swedish with as neutral an accent as possible and then say something like that? I realize it's petty, but these things interest me. :D Ett stort tack till er!
4 AnswersLanguages9 years agoA question about Swedish verbs?
In english, in a typical sentence, one would say "I need to go to the store." Since "att" is the Swedish equivalent of "to", I would think that to say this in Swedish, I must say "Jag behöver att gå till affären." But in almost all cases the "att" is not there: "Jag behöver gå till affären." Is this a mannerism of spoken Swedish or is it standard? Can someone explain it in detail?
1 AnswerLanguages9 years agoA question regarding swedish pronunciation?
When pronouncing words such as "barn", "bord," "var", and "har" to name a few, It seems that native speakers tend to not roll their Rs and make the sound almost like a guttural R. Should I mimic this, because it would make talking much easier, or am I doing it wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
2 AnswersLanguages9 years agoI'm looking for a unique book.?
This book is a little orange book, and it had detailed instructions regarding what to do in an ENORMOUS amount of emergency situations. Some of these were:
-How to kick in a door
-How to jump out of a moving car
-How to avoid being shot by someone w/ a gun
Does anyone know the name or where I can find this book? Thanks.
1 AnswerBooks & Authors9 years agoA question regarding unlawful detention?
I was wondering... Say you were detained at a traffic stop without reasonable suspicion or probable cause (unlawfully) and while you were detained, law enforcement officers brought drug dogs to sniff your car. If upon sniffing it, they found evidence of marijuana, and then searched and found marijuana in your car, would the evidence have to be thrown out because you were unlawfully detained? Just a hypothetical scenario I have always wondered about. :) thanks!
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics9 years agoI'm being sent dirty text messages from people I don't know...?
I just got a new cell phone, and twice in the past two days, I've been sent dirty text messages from an apparent phone sex line or something of the sort. I don't know if the two messages are from the same number as I've deleted one, but the newest one contains "I want you to pump your [censored] between my [censored] ... " It's a bit disturbing to be honest. Is there anything I can do about this? Thank you.

3 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoAre these generally associated with cosmology or astronomy?
Terms such as:
-Supernovae
-Black Holes
-White Dwarfs
-Wormholes
things of that nature. I want to better distinguish cosmology and astronomy, as I find myself confusing them frequently. :) Thanks!
1 AnswerAstronomy & Space1 decade agoA question about the Bible/Christianity. Anyone who knows please :D?
First off, this is from an atheist point of view, so excuse me if I'm a bit confused here. I'm not trying to sound condescending or anything, purely curiosity. :D
So since Christians follow the Old and New Testaments (right?) in Lev. 11....
"4 " 'There are some that only chew the cud or only have a split hoof, but you must not eat them. The camel, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is ceremonially unclean for you. 5 The coney, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is unclean for you. 6 The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is unclean for you. 7 And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. 8 You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.
9 " 'Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams, you may eat any that have fins and scales. 10 But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales—whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water—you are to detest. 11 And since you are to detest them, you must not eat their meat and you must detest their carcasses. 12 Anything living in the water that does not have fins and scales is to be detestable to you.
Does this mean that pork, shellfish, and rabbit and camel are forbidden to Christians as well?
Thanks.

7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoA prayer for the Pastafarians. Rejoice!?
Hail meatsauce, full of beef. The Spaghetti Monster is with you. Blessed are you among sauces, and blessed is the spice from your shaker. Heated meatsauce, monster of taste, pray for us non-pirates now and at the hour of our hunger. Sauce be unto him. R'Amen. May the Parmesan be with you.
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoPastafarians: Do these words make you feel loved by the all powerful FSM (SBUH)?
“Let us sing praise to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, for He is a loving God. Of His might and dominion, there is no compare; of His mercy and deliciousness, there is no equal. No other god can challenge Him; in the taste test, He is invincible. Through His pasta, He has blessed us with everlasting life, and holy is His Name. For He is the Flying Spaghetti Monster: the One, True, and Most High God, creator of man and midget, giver of pasta, giver of sauce, from age to holy age; not created He was, but ever He lives, through the glory of spaghetti, now and forever. R'Amen.”
These brought tears to my eyes. I read my Gospel before bed every night.
R'Amen, brothers, may the spirit of the Parmesan be with you.

I have a USB and a bluetooth, but I have no clue. Is there a special setting, or a special headset, or what? I'm not talking about like voice chat, but the actual sound of games and whatnot. Thanks!
3 AnswersPlayStation1 decade agoMy speakers aren't working; I can't even find them on the playback devices list!?
My speakers, which are built into my monitor, were working fine up until about 2 days ago, when they just stopped working for no apparent reason. I went Start-->Control Panel-->Hardware and Sound-->Manage Audio Devices, and they weren't even registered as an audio playback device! I just don't get it. I have had no problems with this before. I do have a pair of USB headphones, but I can't get by on them forever! I do need my speakers back, and ANY help would be appreciated. Thanks!
By the way, I am running Windows 7 on an HP Pavilion, model p6142p, if that tells you anything.
Thanks again!
