Laptop randomly playing videos while closed?
So, my laptop's been acting a little strange the past month or two. It all started the beginning of last month, one day I was watching a video with VLC media player and heard this odd music in the background that I knew wasn't part of the movie. I paused the movie, and the music kept playing. I checked iTunes, nothing was playing, and I even closed it to see if that would help. I did the same thing with Chrome, I checked that there were no ads playing, and then closed it. I checked the Task Manager, it didn't show any programs running which would cause that music. Finally I decided to restart my laptop in the hopes it would help. It did, though the music kept playing the whole time it was shutting down and didn't stop until it was finally off. I got my camera out and took a video to record the song and see if I could identify it, a friend later said it was Mandarin Taiwanese.
A few weeks after, I had closed my laptop for the night but left it running. Around 3am, it woke me up playing some very loud advertisement. I was half-asleep and didn't think to check if there were any ads open in Chrome, I just closed out of it and muted the computer before closing it again.
Then this morning, about half an hour ago, I got woken up again. I'd left my laptop closed and running again, with a tab of the TV show Ghost Adventures open on Youtube. Around 1:30am, I got woken up by the sound of one of the guys on the show yelling "Show yourself!" followed by the creepy sound effects they play in the beginning of the show. Apparently the episode had restarted itself and started playing, once again even though my laptop was closed.
Is there anything I can do about this? I'm not sure if it's a virus or not. My computer isn't really having any other problems other than this. I'd like to be able to fix it, otherwise I'll have to start muting my computer before I go to bed at night.
3 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks9 years agoBook about Writer's Block?
Ok, so this might seem a little vague..
I was in a writing group in high school, and there was this book one of the teachers had. I can't remember what it was called, but it was filled with ideas for beating writer's block. It had a different idea on each page, like different ideas to add to a story or ways to distract yourself and calm down so you could write better.
Like I said, I can't remember the name, but I'm hoping somebody will.
1 AnswerBooks & Authors10 years agoSome advice for my kittens?
About two months ago, my cat Ninja died of old age (he was 19). It took a while before I was ready for a new cat, but when a cousin of mine told me her cat had kittens a few weeks ago, I decided I needed some new friends. Originally I was planning on getting two (so they'd each have someone to play with and wouldn't be as lonely), but on Sunday the mother cat was hit by a car. My cousin wasn't able to take care of them as much as they needed, so I ended up bringing three of them home with me.
They're just under five weeks old now, and they seem to be doing pretty well. They eat dry kitten chow, as well as this powdered kitten milk formula. Their eyes, ears, and teeth all seem healthy, and they've all used the litter box.
It seems like they're gonna be ok, but I just want to make sure I'm doing everything I can for them. I spend tons of time with them, they sleep in my room so they know I'm there for them. I keep them in a cat carried with a locking door at night so my other adult cat (who is 6, and hasn't adjusted to them yet) doesn't try to hurt them. When I picked them up, I brought a small teddy bear with me and rubbed it all over the box they used to sleep in with their mother, so they'd have some comfort here (it seems to work, they sleep curled up on it every night).
Is there anything else I should be doing for these little cuties? They're just so sweet and adorable, I want them to be as healthy and happy as possible.
2 AnswersCats1 decade agoAm I allergic to MSG?
Ok. As long as I can remember growing up, I used to get these (seemingly) random side pains. About a year ago, they started moving into my chest and getting a lot worse. Since then, I've been to a million doctors, and they've diagnosed me with depression, anxiety, transitory benign chest wall pain, and a bunch of other stuff. They've put me on multiple types of meds, none of which work.
Today, while browsing the internet, I saw something about MSG allergies causing chest pain. I read more, and found it can also cause headaches, tiredness, depression, and frequent urination, all of which I also have.
I don't eat much Chinese food, which I know is usually loaded with MSG, but my family does tend to eat a lot of processed food.
I'm thinking I'm probably allergic to MSG, I'm just curious what you folks think. (Please don't just tell me to ask my doctor. I absolutely hate the man, the meds he put me on really messed up my life, and I can't find a new doctor.)
3 AnswersAllergies1 decade agoPossibly pregnant but not really sure...?
Ok...my boyfriend and I had intercourse on December 14th, and we were a little scared because we thought the condom might have broken (there was some stuff that looked like semen on the outside and there wasn't much inside the condom, though it hadn't actually broken). I was pretty sure we were ok, but just to be safe I went to my doctor and got birth control. It's three weeks later, and I haven't had my period (though the birth control I'm on now makes it so it only happens 4 times a year, and it's always really irregular anyway...only happens a few times a year since I was 16 or so). I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant, but I've been having some back pain and random food cravings and had a bit of stomach sickness...not sure if these are pregnancy-related, me just getting sick, or paranoia. Any ideas? (I plan on buying a pregnancy test next week when I have some money, but I'm just really worried and would like some insight.) (And please...I really don't need any lectures on "teenagers being irresponsible...my boyfriend and I are both adults and we're always careful)
Thanks! And sorry for that ^^ being so long.

I know it's supposedly good for you...but does anyone have any examples? I'm kinda confused about what counts as a "small meal" and when you should have them.
5 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoSide pain?
I've been having pain in my side for a while now...It's really random. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with what I eat. It's happened in both sides, mostly in the left, and it usually feels like it's in the areas on the sides of my belly button. My doctor said it was probably indegestion and gave me heartburn pills, but it didn't work. Lately I've been getting heartburn a lot, in the mornings, whether I eat breakfast or not. Any ideas what it could be?
1 AnswerWomen's Health1 decade agoSomething better than a treadmill?
I've been trying to lose weight and I walk about 2 miles a day on the treadmill, and I find it to be EXTREMLEY boring. Are there any other excersices that work just as well, that I'd be able to do around my house?
5 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoEating small meals?
I've read in a few places that eating several small meals instead of three big ones helps you lose weight...anyone have more info and ideas?
