I am the webmaster for a company that sells daily living aids and accessibility remodeling supplies. I'm here to get ideas for our blog and to possibly help people by answering their questions. I do not want to be seen as a troll so I try not to link to my employer's website frequently. When I can I will provide the references from our blog and articles instead of links directly to our site. If you are interested in learning more about the company I work for here are our URLs: www.dynamic-living.com www.adaptmy.com

3 AnswersOther - Food & Drink10 years agoDo you still shop from paper catalogs?
The company I work for sells lots of products of interest to seniors, but we no longer mail out a paper catalog. All our products are listed on the website, but we DO still take orders over the phone.
I've talked to a number of people over the last year or so who miss having a paper catalog to flip through for ideas. However our research shows that most of the people receiving catalogs were placing orders through the website anyway. I'm sure I could find countless studies about how people shop, but I'd rather hear it right from the consumer's mouths.
22 AnswersSenior Citizens10 years agoHow do you shop for assistive technology and daily living aids?
I work for a retailer that sells these kinds of products and I'm curious to hear how people like to shop for gadgets.
Not everybody thinks about these things, so here are some specific questions:
Do you prefer to search online or go to a store?
Do you browse looking for ideas or do you search for specific products for specific tasks?
Is what you get / where you shop limited by your income or insurance company?
7 AnswersPeople with Disabilities10 years agoHave you experienced an accessibility nightmare?
A coworker of mine wrote a blog post about the awful job a hotel did with an accessible room they offered her. The worst of it was a hand held shower that was zip tied in place at such an angle that no one could use it, it was stuck spraying the floor and the wall. She was so blown away by how bad it was she even took pictures.
I can only assume that there are other instances like this, where a business or public space has made a partial effort to make the space accessible and then failed miserably.
Please share what you encountered and what you did about it.
5 AnswersPeople with Disabilities1 decade agoWhat are your favorite euphemisms for "death"?
My boss recently had surgery and now that she's recovering nicely I'm working on a card for her. She and I both have a very dark sense of humor, and I know she was looking up funny death euphemisms to cheer herself up.
So I was thinking I could make a card that says "Glad you didn't kick the bucket, push up daisies... etc."
I'd like to include a huge list. Can you suggest any more?
4 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoAre you "Aging in Place"?
The company I work for uses this term all the time to describe seniors that are continuing to live in the same home they always have, as opposed to moving into a nursing home, assisted living community or independent living community.
Problem is, I think lots of people in the health care industry use this term, but not necessarily anyone else. SO my question has a few different levels:
Do you consider yourself to be aging in place based on my definition above?
Have you heard of the phrase "aging in place" before?
What do you think of the phrase "aging in place"?
20 AnswersSenior Citizens1 decade agoWhat do you think "Home Automation" means?
I'm working on a blog post about home automation, and I while I know what that means, I'm not sure if it is common knowledge. So I'm curious to see what people think when they see those words. (Please research it AFTER you answer.)

It's very common for people who have disabilities to remodel to make their home more accessible. AND lots of people will make changes to their homes to make it easier for their pets to come and go. But are there any modifications that can be done specifically to make an assistance animal's job easier?
