  • My dog has terrible gas. What do I do?

It's not her food - she's only been gassy for the last two days. I think she may have gotten into something outside, like rabbit poop or her favorite, deer poop. Now she's having farting issues. It smells so bad that your eyes burn. It smells so bad that you can taste it. It smells so bad that it makes the air feel a few degrees warmer. My problem is, she'll be meeting my boyfriend's family for the first time tomorrow, and I don't want her to embarrass me by farting up their house. My question is, is there anything I can do, or do I just have to tough it out and wait until she's not gassy anymore? Do they make some sort of Gas-ex or Beano for dogs? Is there a natural remedy? Should I train her to light a match every time she farts? Help meeeeee!

  • What does my dream mean?

I keep having recurring dreams in which I'm being forced to eat a raw, uncooked kitten. What does that mean? I can find info on dreams of eating and dreams of kittens, but nothing on dreams of eating kittens.

  • How do you deactivate the passenger airbag on a 2006 Jetta TDI?

Ok, I know it's probably easy, but I can't find anything about it in the car's manual. I know it can be done, because there is a light on my dashboard that says "Passenger airbag on/off." It's not a button, though. Just a light. Where is the button or switch for this located?

  • After you have finished mountain biking in Moab, Utah, what do you do for fun?

    Hi everyone,

I am going to Moab, UT with a group of mtn. bikers in June. We will be in the area for 5 days, but one of those days will be spend driving to and from the Grand canyon. When in Moab, we'll mostly be biking in the morning, in order to beat the mid-day heat. After lunch, we will probably explore the area's national parks & national monuments. But what should we do in the evening? Are there any good music venues in Moab? What about fun bars? We are all old enough to drink legally, so you may factor that in to your suggestions on fun things to do in Utah.

I would also welcome suggestions on things we should do in the afternoon. We have a lot of info on hiking trails, but if you want to recommend any good ones that take less than 6 hours to hike, feel free to let me know. Otherwise, I don't know. Are there any good brewery tours in the area? Interesting local festivals in June? Art exhibitions? Or affordable horseback rides? Rafting would be fun, but we're all on a tight budget. Do you know of any affordable 1 day rafting trips, though?

Thanks for helping me plan my vacation everyone!

  • World Beard Championships question?

Other than fame, glory, and honor, what exactly do the winners of the World Beard Championships win? If you don't know for sure, go ahead and make something up. I'm interested in hearing what you strangers think the prize might be.

  • Good midwestern singletrack biking vacation destination?

    Hello,

A group of us are looking to take a mountain biking vacation next summer and we're just looking for some suggestions. We would like to do a week-long trip, with about 4 days of biking and the rest of the time available for driving. Now, economical times being what they are, we have some restrictions on where we can travel. As much as we would love to go to British Columbia or Moab, we will need to stick closer to our homes, which are in Wisconsin and Minnesota. So, does anyone have any good ideas of places to go biking (again, singletrack mtn. biking, please) in the central North America area? If you have a map of the continent in front of you, please imagine or actually do this: Put your pencil on Buffalo, NY, and draw a circle counter clockwise from Buffalo through Ontario, Manitoba, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, a bit of Oklahoma, northern Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, some of Pennsylvania, and back to Buffalo. It does not need to be a perfect circle. An oval would be acceptable as well. Do you know of any great places to spend 4 days mountain biking anywhere inside that circle/oval? We're looking for some challenging trails that are good for full-suspension bikes. Suggestions for lodging (vacation properties, interesting hostels, or camping preferred, no hotels please) and fun area nightlife or decent brewery tours in the area of the bike trails would also be welcome. Thanks everyone!

  • What are some good ways to use radishes?

    Hello,

After working in my garden today, I realized that I may have gotten a little enthusiastic with my radish seeds. I seem to have planted about 10 times more radishes than I can imagine eating. What should I do with them? I have only eaten radishes raw with veggie dip, raw in a lettuce salad, or raw as a potato salad garnish. Do you know of any other great ways to eat or prepare radishes? My radishes are the typical small round red types. I could just give them away, but I can't imagine many people happily accepting a bunch of radishes. So, if you have any great recipes to share with me, I'd love to see them. Thanks!

  • What are some good veggies to grow in partial shade?

    Hello,

My mother has wanted a vegetable garden for decades, but she lives in a forest. The forest was so dense that there was no grass on the ground. Only moss. Last summer, my parents had the forest thinned as part of a forest management program. Now there are areas around their house that get sunlight for about 60% of normal daylight hours. My brother and I have decided that we will build a small ~350 sq. ft. garden for an early Mothers' day gift to mom. I have my own garden (it's a normal sunny veggie garden) so I don't need any tips on making the actual garden. If you would like to share, though, feel free. What I am really looking for are some specific varieties of veggies that would do well in partial shade. If you know of any good ones, I would be glad to hear of them. I think Mom mostly wants tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, zucchini, etc. You know, typical veggie garden plants. Mom lives in Central WI, right on the border of zones 4a and 4b, if that helps. Thanks

  • My computer speakers pick up a local radio station whenever they are turned on. How do I stop this?

If anyone can give me any advice that doesn't involve purchasing new speakers, I would greatly appreciate it. Seriously, out of all radio stations for my speakers to mysteriously pick up, why does it have to be the '80's hair metal station? It's not really loud, but it is loud enough for me to clearly hear whatever Whitesnake or Poison or Scorpions song is playing. I have tried re-positioning my speakers already. That didn't help. Also, I am not playing the radio through my computer. In fact, the computer can be off and my speakers will still pick up this terrible radio station if I turn them on. Can you help me make the radio station quit playing through my computer speakers?

  • Drinking games for baby shower?

    Hello,

I will soon be hostessing a baby shower for my best friend and her husband, and I am looking for some good ideas for drinking games that we can play at the party. It would be helpful if the games could be in some way baby themed, or giving birth themed. The shower will be co-ed, and there will be alcohol served. You see, my friend and her husband just want her guests to have a great time. Especially the male guests. Usually men hate baby showers.

So, I already have plans to have a beer drinking contest, only the beer will be in baby bottles. Who ever drinks their baby bottle of beer fastest will win something.

If you have any more good ideas, (again, involving alcohol, and being baby themed) I would love to hear them. Just don't come up with anything that will cost me too much, please. I have already spent $100s on beer and cake for this party. Thank you, total strangers, for your help!

  • Question about a portrait of Leonard Bernstein?

Hello, I am hoping someone out there can answer this:

In the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. there is a portrait of Leonard Bernstein. It is a painting of him when he was younger, and he is smoking a cigarette and possibly sitting at a piano. Has anyone seen the portrait I am talking about? I want to know who painted it. I saw it a year ago, and wrote down the artist's name, but I have since lost it. Also, if you are familiar with the portrait, would you happen to know where I can purchase a print of it?

  • Adventure Racing?

OK, I asked this once before and no one knew what an adventure race was...

An Adventure Race is a team sport that's similar to a triathlon, but with slightly different genres. Often, they will include mountain biking, paddling (often whitewater) and orienteering/trail running. Some races include special challenges like a rock climbing/bouldering or scavenger hunt. Here is my question:

Does anyone know of any good adventure races in the U.S. or Canada that cost under $1000/team to enter? If so, please describe the race. Thanks!

  • Questions regarding biodiesel - PLEASE ONLY ANSWER IF YOU OR A FRIEND/FAMILY MEMBER DRIVES A BIODIESEL CAR!?

    Hello,

I am considering purchasing a diesel VW. I would like to have the VW converted to a biodiesel vehicle. I have a biodiesel co-op where I live, and they will convert diesel vehicles to biodiesel. I am aware of cost of a diesel vehicle, the cost of converting to biodiesel, the environmental benifits, the cost of the fuel, that I can run off restaurant grease, and that my exhaust may smell like a french fry. Here are my questions:

Do you have easy access to biodiesel at gas stations in your state or province? (I know nothing about biodiesel access in any place other than Wisconsin) Have you had any unusual problems with your biodiesel vehicle? What brand of diesel car (sedans or wagons only, please) would you recommend most? (I am open to brands besides VW, but would like a used car under $20,000) Can you still put regular diesel in a biodiesel car? How many miles/gallon do you get with biodiesel? What are the pros/cons of your biodiesel vehicle?

    Thanks everyone!

  • How do I get the smell out of my jacket?

Help! This weekend I attended a rather raucous festival in an outdoor biergarten and I was spilled upon several times. This being February in snowy Wisconsin, I wore my good ski jacket to the beer-fest event. The jacket is a typical ski jacket, with a wind-proof, water-proof outer shell. The inner shell doesn't smell. It's just the outside. I have washed it once and it still wreaks like stale beer. Does anyone have any good suggestions of how to remove said stench from a ski jacket? The jacket is machine-washable, so if you know of any good detergents, please enlighten me. Tide does not work. The beer that was spilled on me was mostly of the doppelbock (very strong in both alcohol content and odor) variety, if that helps you with your answer.

  • What is the best conference in U.S. college hockey and why?

I vote for the WCHA, but that is mostly because I am a Badger fan and we do have other strong teams, (even though I hate to admit) like Minnesota. I'm interested in hearing other opinions.

  • How are new NHL teams formed?

I am from Wisconsin, and I love hockey. I love my Badgers, (despite their crappy season, the year after winning the NCAA national championships, WHAT THE HELL, BADGERS????)

but we do not have an NHL team. I would like to start a petition to have an NHL team formed in Wisconsin. I would send it to the CEO of the company I work for (one of the largest in the state) in the hopes that he would consider financing a hockey team. I would most certainly be fired for waisting company time with silly petitions, but I am serious! I can't possibly root for a Minnesota team! No one from WI could! (I'm sorry to those of you from MN, but that's just the way things are.) The Chicago Blackhawks bore me. I am currently a Canucks fan, only because I have visited Vancouver many times and find it to be a lovely city, but it is a bit of a drive for me.

I guess my real question is,

If you are wealthy enough to buy a new NHL team to base in Wisconsin, will you please do so?
