My dog has terrible gas. What do I do?
It's not her food - she's only been gassy for the last two days. I think she may have gotten into something outside, like rabbit poop or her favorite, deer poop. Now she's having farting issues. It smells so bad that your eyes burn. It smells so bad that you can taste it. It smells so bad that it makes the air feel a few degrees warmer. My problem is, she'll be meeting my boyfriend's family for the first time tomorrow, and I don't want her to embarrass me by farting up their house. My question is, is there anything I can do, or do I just have to tough it out and wait until she's not gassy anymore? Do they make some sort of Gas-ex or Beano for dogs? Is there a natural remedy? Should I train her to light a match every time she farts? Help meeeeee!

You can give her some Pepto Bismol. It comes in caplet form which makes it much easier to administer.

hmmm you got the farting disease girl! there are whole websites devoted to the issue in fact one on my dog walker site (see the resources in the dog walker site below) and check the dog services.
usually its because they have eaten something new for the first time and their body cant process it, so it goes into their bowel where bacteria eat it and make sulfur gas as a by product. Sometimes this happens even when they eat a new meat (and they should eat meat only). If it is good food like meat, they need to be introduced slowly and be kept feeding it. short term solution might be feeding charcoal biscuits as this takes the bile out of their system and also reduces gas somehow/ Good luck over xmas with your smelly dog!

Any food containing a lot of fillers like corn can cause excessive amounts of gas. Foods like Alpo, Beneful, Mighty Dog, or Kibbles N' Bits, the ingredients in these foods makes your dog's stomach ferment the wheat and corn fillers and create gas. Your best bet is to switch your dog' food to something like Nutro or Natural Balance which have ingredients in them that you can pronounce!

if the problem doesn't subside soon, she may have become sensitive to something in her food. the most common cause of flatulence in dogs is grain in the food. dog digestive systems aren't designed to allow for much grazing, although they do eat veggies and most fruits just fine. look for foods that are grain-free, or at least wheat-free. wheat is the worst for causing gas, but soy and corn are close behind.

Carry room freshener along with you, lol.
Give her pumpkin or banana, it'll get whatevers causing the upset stomach out.
