Prompt: History is a record of the struggle between opposing ideologies.

Describe a specific situation in which history might not be a record of the struggle between opposing ideologies. Discuss what you think determines when history is a record of the struggle between opposing ideologies and when it is not.

    Essay:

History is a record of past events on issues such as environmental hazards, technological advances, societal problems, political affairs, and many others of the like that leave a huge impact on society. Most issues involve differing ideals and viewpoints that lead to countless arguments. When these arguments are unable to reach a compromise they get recorded down in history as a struggle. One main example involving political affairs is the history of the Cold War that erupted between the communist Soviet Union and the capitalist United States. Both nations had opposing ideologies on how a nation should be structured and how it should function.

Although contradictory ideologies are inherent in almost every issue, they do not always lead to a struggle like between the Soviet Union and the United States. In 2011, Japan was faced with a high magnitude earthquake and as a result a tsunami. This incidence caused many casualties and destroyed almost every standing structure that was exposed. Due to this disaster, people from all over the world, including the United States, sent in volunteers to help take care of the casualties and repair the extensive damage. A relief fund was also organized to help Japan move forward after this disaster. People from all over the world might have different ideologies on how to help Japan, but they all have a common goal. This common goal directs the focus of history on overcoming the disaster rather struggle between opposing ideologies; instead it involves a struggle of humanity against a natural disaster.

History is only a record of the struggle between opposing ideologies when there is no common consensus on issues which ultimately lead to war and controversy amongst nations. History that records things such as technological advances and events such as natural disasters, don’t particularly deal with differing viewpoints that will cause such a struggle. They are recorded as events and findings that took place in the past and no more.

  • Physics help with projectiles...?

Hi Can you help me with these problems; I have tried everything I CAN think of but i keep getting it wrong.

1.) A football is kicked at ground level with a speed of 40.0 m/s at an angle of 38.0° to the horizontal. How much later does it hit the ground?

2)A river flows due north with a speed of 2.40 m/s. A man rows a boat across the river; his velocity relative to the water is 4.60 m/s due east. The river is 1000 m wide. How far north of his starting point will he reach the opposite bank?

----- For this I already know that his speed relative to the earth is 5.19 m/s . The angle at which he travels relative to the eastern direction is 27.6 ° northeast. And that the time required to cross the river is 217.4 s.

3)An airplane is heading due south at a speed of 495 km/h. A wind begins blowing from the southwest at a speed of 100 km/h (average).

---(a) What is the velocity [magnitude and direction(east of south)] of the plane relative to the ground?

----(b) How far off course will it be after 8 min if the pilot takes no corrective action?

4)A ball is fired at an angle of q = 28.9° from the horizontal, landing 2.56 s later after traveling a horizontal distance of x = 90.1 m.

----(a) At what height h above the firing level does the ball land?

-----(b) At what speed is it fired?

-----(c) At what speed does it land?

Any help on any of the problems is greatly appreciated!!

    Thank You in advance!!!!!!!!

Hi can you please help me with this problem I have tried everything to try to solve it but I have no clue how to do it.

A projectile is shot from the edge of a cliff h = 305 m above ground level with an initial speed of v0 = 105 m/s at an angle of 37.0° with the horizontal.

    (a) Determine the time taken by the projectile to hit point P at ground level.

    (b) Determine the range X of the projectile as measured from the base of the cliff.

    (c) At the instant just before the projectile hits point P, find the horizontal and the vertical components of its velocity (take up and to the right as positive directions).

    (d) What is the the magnitude of the velocity?

Hi can you help me when the following problem(s) below:

Please explain how to do it. Thanks in advance!!!!!!

A motorboat starting from a dead stop accelerates at an average rate of 2.0 m/s2 for 2.8 s, then very rapidly roars up to 4.1 m/s2 and holds it constant for 4.0 s. What is its approximate average acceleration over the first 5.0 s of motion?

During a baseball game a runner traveling at 4.0 m/s slides into second base. Given that it takes her 0.50 s to come to rest, what was her average acceleration?

    m/s2

Approximately how fast was she moving 0.14 s into the slide?

    m/s

**I found the average acceleration to be -8 but I don't know how to do the second part. I tried multiplying -8 and .14 but that did not work.

  • Calling all grammer people!!! Please, Profread my essay on homelessness?

    HOMELESSNESS

Homelessness is a problematic issue in our society that increases more and more each year. Unemployment, poverty, low income, mental illness, and racial or sexual discrimination, huge income gap are all contributing factors for homelessness. Ending homelessness does not mean finding shelter for the homeless but finding a way to fix our broken system.

Many homeless individual report mental illness as being their number one cause for becoming homeless (Yoshida). Health care costs are skyrocketing and insurance privileges are increasing. Although there are many programs and counseling services for the sick, they all require a stable housing address which the homeless do not even have. The homeless also lack a universal health-care plan that many of the services provided become useless for them. They cannot even get health insurance, because it’s only eligible only if they are employed not unemployed or self-employed.

Finding work is the most painstaking part of life that the homeless go through every single day. They do not even have enough money to afford education to help them find a job. The homeless stricken by poverty and have no where to turn to.

Some people who already have work are still homeless due to low income. Many employers discriminate worker based on their color of their skin. They take away their rights and give them low wages compared with other workers. They think of people with different color or racial background as disadvantaged and less skilled. The most discriminated racial groups involve Blacks and Hispanics. “[They] complain that the [blacks] are a base class and exclude them from the rights which others enjoy” (Emerson). People of different races are divided into classes that eventually lead to homelessness and poverty. “Race-as-identity” was defined all over the work force, which made it even harder for the homeless to find work (Steele). Even women are discriminated and so there is a twenty percent higher unemployment rate for women than for men (Yoshida).

There’s a great income gap between the rich and the poor that the quantity of the homeless starts to rise frequently. As the rich become wealthier and begin purchasing more and more that prices begin to rise. Those whose incomes are not rising as fast are less and less able to afford the same goods that they were able to get before. There are good reasons for defining a free market with a free democracy. But a fair market is as essential to democracy as a free one. The market should not just consider the rich, but also the poor when setting prices on items. Even housing costs are disproportionately affecting people with lower income. As years go by the rental prices for primary residents increase hugely that the current residents end up becoming homeless. Aside from just low wage earners, many workers cannot afford to live where they work and so they go into debt and disappear into nothingness.

These are not the only causes that lead up to homelessness. There are many other reasons that not even you or I know about. We should fix the social and economic system for the better of our community as a whole not just provide temporary shelter for the homeless. Providing such services is only going to help maintain poverty not ending it. The homeless should be given free educational training and should not be discriminated against because of their race or sex. They should all be also provided with a free health care plan including treatment for mental illnesses. We should work to end homelessness not to just uphold it.

  • Calling all Harry Potter fans who read the last book!!!!!!!! READ the summary and tell me what you think!!!!!!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the last and final book of the Harry Potter series. Harry has finally reached his seventieth birthday and has come off age to set off on a journey to defeat Voldemort once and for all. Hermione and Ron join Harry on an intricate quest to annihilate the last of Voldemort’s Horcruxes. Harry knows that the only way Voldemort can truly be killed is if all the Horcruxes that he made of himself are destroyed. The Durselys, the people Harry lived with, were coerced into hiding so Voldemort’s Death Eaters would not torture them to get information on where Harry is. In addition to that, Hermione took away her parents’ memory and sent them off to a far place so that the Death Eaters cannot find them.

Harry is diseased with many horrors throughout the journey. Harry discovers that Dumbledore has left Harry, Ron, and Hermione some treasures that will help them succeed in every step they take. Harry gets a snitch, Ron gets a deluminator, and Hermione gets a Fairy tale book. Furthermore, throughout the journey Harry becomes overwhelmed with tales of Dumbledore’s past, and starts to wonder if the Headmaster might have had a much gloomy past than he ever displayed.

The three friends’ spirits are often low due to their lack of progress, plan and food. One night Ron and Harry get into a ruthless fight resulting in Ron leaving to go back home. Both Harry and Hermione are shocked to see Ron abandoning them. They decide to go to Godric’s Hallow in search of more clues, while coming face to face with Voldemort. Later Harry realizes that his wand broke during the battle resulting in devastation.

Ron comes back with the help of the deluminator a few weeks later and redeems himself by saving Harry’s life from drowning in the lake. They succeed in destroying another Horcrux with the help of Gryffindor’s sword. Later they begin to learn of the strange three magical objects known as the Deathly Hallows by the help of Hermione’s book given by Dumbledore. Whoever seizes the three objects will be known as the master of death. The three objects were the elder wand, the invisibility cloak, and the Resurrection stone. Harry already possesses the cloak, but he realizes that Voldemort is after the elder wand which was hidden in Dumbledore’s grave.

As the journey becomes though and the danger increases Harry begins to fathom the true reason of what Dumbledore expected him to do. He begins to learn that he, Harry, is also a Horcrux and to truly destroy Voldemort he has to sacrifice himself. Voldemort shoots the killing curse at Harry with the elder wand resulting Harry to go into a trance where he meets Dumbledore. Dumbledore answers many of Harry’s questions, while Harry decides to go back and fight.

Believing that Harry is dead, Voldemort orders Hagrid to carry Harry to Hogwarts to show that the “boy who lived” is finally dead by the works of Lord Voldemort. Everyone is shocked to see Harry, while Neville speaks up and ends up killing Nigini the snake and the battle begins again. Harry finally reveals himself and so the true fight between Harry and Voldemort begins.

At last, it’s all over with Voldemort and Harry with just one single spell shot by Voldemort. Harry is left alive, the true master of the Hallows, while Voldemort is killed for good by his own spell. Harry now recognizes more than ever about love, life, and sacrifice in spite of losing many of his friends during the last epic battle between good and evil.
