  • Ok seriously need help here?

I have been watching a very uncomfortable 16 month old dog for about the last month or so and doing everything the vet says to try.

Now the issue it started like this. Butt dragging next it was chewing/licking so off to the vet we go.

Next annul glands are expressed as we all figure it is the likely cause(they were full very full and were done 4 months earlier) .

Next 3 days pass with no issue at all then the dragging starts again. Vet says give it a few days he may be irritated from the gland expression , we wait , it gets worse he starts to get really red on his anus and rubbed the skin off his well extra skin were he used to have testicles.

So back to the vet. He goes to look and plop out comes a tapeworm , odd he was wormed 4 months ago, ok whatever we worm him with droncit and get a second dose for 2 weeks later. We treat every pet in the house for worms(except our ***** who was wormed only 2 months ago and is likely pregnant now so can not be wormed again) She shows no signs of worms...

Ok so just under 2 weeks go by dog starts dragging again. He is given the second dose of drontal.

WE HAVE SEEN NO WORMS ON ANY OF OUR PETS WE DO NOT HAVE A SINGLE FLEA IN THE HOUSE,CATS ARE INDOOR,DOG DOES NOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH OTHER DOGS.

Now only a few days after the second dose of wormer my poor boy is dragging again! Please help me here any idea what to do next??? anyone anything??? I will phone the vet again but these guys are clueless (had to read the label to tell me if tape worm was covered with the type of wormer and was wrong with the first guess). I moved and need a good vet in Chilliwack BC without outrages prices.. help anyone whats wrong with my boy

  • What color is my dog?

So I know what he looks like but everyone who sees him says so many different things. So with no opinion of mine to cloud your thoughts please give me actual color type name for his breed. I adopted this boy at 9 months old I have located his breeder and he is "purebred" No papers. I am not sure she even knows the correct color name..

  • Were all domestic dog breeds created?

So we all know that most people say ALL dogs are from the beginning wolf and then bred to other K9 breeds to create the hundreds of breeds we have today.

Is it true? Are there any breeds that DO NOT descend from Wolves? If so were they created by mixing other Wild k9s? Which ones?

Questions being asked as I am trying to get an idea how people come to some of the conclusions they do about dogs. More questions will likely follow.

    Thanks

  • Switching pup from RAW to KIBBLE?

Ok so I raise all my puppies on a completely RAW\MEAT/BONES diet. I start them on ground chicken with bone and apple/carrots (I know veggies are not a necessity ) at 3.5 weeks (they don't really eat much of-course it is more to give them the taste) by 4.5 weeks they love it. I then go to chunks of chicken or beef bones and throw in some carrot chunks too.

So back to the question. I have puppy buyers occasionally who are not "into" feeding RAW. I explain the benefits of RAW and the down falls of KIBBLE (commercial foods). Most agree ok RAW is the way to go. Then the all mighty vet speaks up and says OMG GET THAT PUPPY OFF RAW NOW! Scares the crap outa my puppy owners and they switch to a vet brand.

CAN THE SWITCH to kibble during growth stages hurt the puppy in any way health wise. Can it change the rate of bone growth? Could it cause hip issues?

I am asking because I am looking for more info to provide my buyers with. I want all my puppies to grow up as best as possible.

Don't want to hear about DON'T BREED our family has been doing it for over 50 years just somewhat new to raw thank you.

  • Mushrooms poisoning my dog . Help?

Okay so I don't think my little dog is eating them but. This morning my Am Bully threw up so I wondered why , then I remembered yestrday he was trying to eat a few mushrooms on our walk , I stopped him. So now I just noticed our back yard (extreamly large) is covered with little patches of them. So I think back more and I remember he has had diareia a few times in the last week or so..and now this morning he threw up . What can I do ? He spends a ton of time out there during the day when we are not home. Is there any way to get rid of the mushrooms?? If he eats more would his reaction be worse? or would it be bad already if it was going to be?

  • Can a ragweed allergy last months?

Hello , my Mal-Shi (Maltese/Shih-Tzu) gets extremely itchy starting around mid September. It is now almost mid Nov. and it has just gotten a bit worse this morning. I noticed some sort of plant seed? On her fur so am thinking it could be the cause. She licks, bites and scratches at her feet , face , groin, and just above the hock area. She also has about 10 little red bumps right near her groin and the inside of her leg.

She is 3.5 years old and eats a RAW meat and bones diet NOT pre-made.

This has happened every year now. Last year we put her on Benadryl and it helped but did not go away. She is on Benadryl now again and wearing an E-Collar. We did get stronger antihistamine last year from our vet and will likely do the same again if it does not clear up soon.

Back to the question though does this sound like Ragweed allergy ? Any other ideas?

    Thanks.

  • My ***** is leaking what seems to be milk but has not been bred nor is she in or near her heat.?

So my ***** is 3.5 years old and has had puppies. Her last heat was very late (they have always been every 6 months) . This last heat was July 20th. She was NOT bred.

She is also licking her vulva more often then normal , I do not see any fluid coming from there.

Maybe phantom pregnancy? If not is there any other possibilities?

She is due to come into heat in January.

  • Looking for advice my dog has an infection.?

Hello my ***** had 6 pups 4 weeks ago now. at 2 weeks or so after the birth we noticed a bloody discharge from her vulva so into the vet we went. Blood test revealed mild anemia and a mild infection.Mom was started on antibiotics a few days latter. Now almost finished the 10 day supply of antibiotics and mom is still showing bloody discharge sometimes quite thick sometimes thinner. Not a ton but enough that it's bothering me. Now we are taking her back to the vet again on tuesday but I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this before and can tell me what the best things to do are. The vet said she may bleed longer then the antibiotics last. He suggested that she may have torn something while delivering. Any idea how long this could take to heal on it's own. How long should we leave it before considering surgery? oh the infection is NOT Systemic

our vet can be hard to understand so im looking for help from someone who may be able to explain things better. His English sucks..
