  • Can anyone tell me if this is legal?

My grandfather took out a personal loan for a truck. He recently realized that they are charging him about 40% to about 54% interest on a loan less than $4,000.00!! This is a loan from a finance company called Franklin Financial. I just wondered if it was legal to charge this type of interest rate. The state he lives in is South Carolina.

  • Bubble burst!?

Last night I was tucking my 6 year old son, Tyler, into bed. You all know how it goes... you don't get to brush your teeth sometimes until after they are asleep. Anyway, I tucked him in, leaned down, kissed him goodnight and said " I love you, see you in the morning." My son then said " Mommy, can I ask you a question?" I said "Sure baby!" He then said " Mommy, why does your kisses feel the same but stink tonight?" I didn't know if I should laugh or cry! Talk about bursting your bubble right? So does anyone else have a cute, or what I call "war" stories about raising kids? Seems to me like everyone I know has at least one or two hair raising events...or really cute stories like this one. Have a good day everyone....and remember, brush those teeth before you tuck in your little one...or you might just get a surprise! LOL LOL

  • Illegal drug use?

How has illegal drug use ruined your life or the life of a friend or family member? I have a friend who's husband is trying to quite abusing drugs. ( Cocaine) She is being really supportive and he seems to be doing quite well. The problem is she is dealing with some depression herself and some trust issues on his part. She is in counseling which is just great, BUT, I think maybe if I could give her some examples of how other people dealt with it, or how other loved ones or family members coped it would help her out a bit more. I appreciate anything that anyone is willing to contribute! :) Thanks again!

  • Old wives tales?

Heartburn - women who have lots of heartburn during pregnancy will have a baby with lots of hair.

Belly Shape - Round and out to the front (boy) Wide to the sides (girl).

We have heard them all!! What are some interesting old wives tales you heard during your pregnancies? My favorite one:

During labor if you put a knife under the bed it will cut the pain in two....ahhh if this only worked! LOL

  • Interesting?

I just came across a few 1998 articles about bank practices. Do you realize that in 1973 ( that is only 34 years ago!!) married women were not issued credit cards in their own name? That most women could not get a bank loan without a male co-signer?

Amazing is it not? Thank goodness times are changing. Slowly but surely in my opinion! :)

  • American Coalition for Fathers and Children?

I am trying to find more information about a Dr. Warren Farrell. I do like what he is doing to advocate the creation of a family law system, legislative system, and public awareness which promotes equal rights for ALL parties affected by divorce, and the breakup of a family or establishment of paternity. Does anyone know if he is making any headway in the prevention of the atrocities committed by Domestic Relations Judges who use the divorce industry against parents, children and grandparents?

  • Saturday Humor?

We all need a laugh. Since it is the weekend how about a smile! Have a good day all and enjoy this cute joke I found:

The newlywed wife said to her husband when he returned from work, "I have great news for you. Pretty soon, we're going to be three in this house instead of two."

Her husband ran to her with a smile on his face and delight in his eyes.

He was glowing of happiness and kissing his wife when she said, "I'm glad that you feel this way since tomorrow morning, my mother moves in with us."

Hope you all enjoy! If you have a good one, please feel free to share! :)

  • We need a smile this Saturday?

Just thought I would post a little joke for everyone's amusement. We all need a good laugh once in a while.

A man really loved a woman, but he was just too shy to propose to her. Now he was up in his years and neither of them had ever been married. Of course, they dated about once a week for the past six years, but he was so timid he just never got around to suggesting marriage much less living together.

But one day, he became determined to ask her the question. So he calls her on the phone, "June."

    "Yes, this is June."

    "Will you marry me?"

"Of course I will! Who's this?"

If you have a cute joke in mind, please feel free to post! :)

  • Birth control and Machismo culture?

I was reading an article about birth control usage and other culture's beliefs. In most countries where there is still a high machismo attitude, conversations about sex education are taboo. Because of this, some American migrants are unwilling to use condoms, and other forms of birth control despite the large amounts of teenage pregnancy amongst these populations.

Do you think, in our culture, that there should be interventions promoting condom use among migrant populations? Do you think there would be any change considering the large level of machismo beliefs that are still strong in migrant culture? Or, do you believe that we should leave well enough alone and allow women from other countries to decide if they are going to "Americanize" themselves and stray from their culture, or keep with their beliefs?

  • American Union of Men?

The AUM claims to be a "leftist" group. I am not sure what to think about this. Most progressive groups are more critical of groups, such as the AUM. Progressives, in general, believe each individual should be able to establish their own role in society, not have one imposed based on their gender. For this reason, as well as their position on other issues, progressives would generally characterize the AUM as a rightist organization.

    What do you all think?
