  • Why am I not as full?

Okay, so why is it that I can eat a HUGE mountainous vegan salad (like the WHOLE plate full and about 3 inches tall) and not feel stuffed, but eat a petite fillet mignon and about a cup of mashed potatoes and feel like I'm gonna bust my gut!

  • Do potty training books for Children work?

I want to get my son a book to inspire and help him along in feeling confident to go potty on his toilet. Are there any good children's books that anyone can recommend that helped their little one go on the potty? My son is two and LOVES books and story time. We have been training him for a few months now and he goes every now and then, I am just looking for something to give him a little more confidence and inspiration.

  • Gifts for labor and delivery nurses?

I am thinking about giving a gift to the L&D nurses when my son is born. They tend to do a majority of the dirty work and offer the most physical and emotional support of the hospital staff. What is an appropriate gift that I can give them during my stay? I was thinking like a big box of chocolates they could all share, or is that a lame gift?

  • My toddler has been waking up at night?

My son who is 2 1/2, has been waking up at night crying. It is the strangest thing. He usually wakes up just once, cries a bit and goes back to sleep. It's not a night terror, as he is not screaming or sweating or anything. He doesn't get out of bed either. I just go in there and tell him it's okay, stroke his hair a bit and he is fine. Nothing in his routine has changed. Is it just his age, has anyone else experienced this?

  • Happy kitty?

I have had two cats at all times since I was a baby (I'm now 31). I have found this to be consistent with most all my cats. Sometimes when I pet one of my cats he purrs and rubs, but then he just gets so into it he ends up biting. I'm not scratching a part that he doesn't like (like above the tail or his tummy). His bite doesn't hurt or draw blood. What's the deal?

  • Do you know a lot about monster truck shows?

We want to take my 2 1/2 year old son to a monster truck show. He LOVES trucks and tractors and all that stuff. My husband and I know nothing about the racing/monster truck-type shows and we were wondering what we should expect. Here's the schedule for the show:

    3pm-qualifying

    4:30-6-pit party

    7pm-racing and freestyle action

I think having my son stay for the whole event is impossible. My question is what happens during the qualifying and what is a pit party? Or should we come later for the freestyle part?

  • 33 weeks and thinning cervix?

I saw my doctor yesterday and she checked my cervix and said it was thinning. I'm 33 weeks along and she told me to take it easy. She wasn't very specific as to what she meant about taking it easy. I was wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation and what you did. My doctor didn't say how much my cervix has thinned. She said she would see me in two weeks, so I assume it must not be too serious if she didn't order an ultrasound or give me more specific instruction. Obviously I will do whatever it takes to ensure the health of my baby. This is my second child by the way and I have a 2 year old at home (which I assume I should no longer lift?).

  • When should I go to the hospital (when in labor)?

Okay, so I know the rule of thumb is don't go to the hospital until your contractions are 5 minuets apart. Here's the deal; this is my second kid and the hospital is an hour away from where I live. I see my OB on Tuesday and I will ask her what she wants me to do, but I was wondering if anyone else has ever been in a similar situation and when did you go in? If the hospital tries to send me home, I figure I'll just wait in the lobby. Seeing that it will be an hour home and an hour back if things progress. Plus I don't want to miss my window of opportunity for an epidural. Thanks all!

  • Yucky tummy?

Uh, I had a stomach bug on Saturday. I didn't throw up but had severe cramping for about 6 hours and diarrhea. Sunday and Monday, I was a zombie and worked on hydrating myself I had little to eat because every time I ate I would feel like crap. When I would stand for more than 30 seconds I felt as if I would collapse. It is now Tuesday and I am doing much better, I ate a normal breakfast, but my tummy feels yucky (still). I am also 7 months pregnant, so I am thinking that this virus hit me a little harder because of that. Has anyone else had this virus, and how long did it take you to recover?

  • Gross question about toddlers...?

Forgive me for asking this, I am not some FecalPheliac or anything... My son is 2 and has never really made a solid poop. I took him to the doctor and she thought that he might be lactose intolerant, so we cut out dairy and supplemented with Lactaid products. His poops are less runny but not log-like, it's like a thick paste. My question is what is considered a normal toddler poop?

  • Which state produces the most lumber?

Okay, this question is kind of stupid, but I can't find the answer anywhere on the internet. Basically I want to know which state produces the most commercially used lumber (not which state has the most forests or trees). Thaaaanks!

  • When should I stop watering down my toddlers juice?

My son is 2 and he gets one glass of juice per day. I give him watered down OJ with breakfast (about 1 part water 2 parts juice). He drinks milk and water the rest of the day. When did you stop watering down your kids juices?

  • Toddler falling out of bed?

I just switched my sons crib over to a toddler bed. He loves his "cool bed" (as he calls it), but has been falling out every night since he's been sleeping in it. I don't want to convert his bed back to a crib. He's not getting hurt when he falls out, just startled, his bed is very low to the ground and we have new very plush carpeting in his room so it is impossible for him to sustain an injury. He is such a good boy and stays in his bed, we have no problem getting him to sleep in it (he can't wait until bed or naps to sleep in his "cool bed"). We are expecting another child in April and I wanted him to make the transition before the baby comes. How long does it take for their little bodies to get used to sleeping in a bed? BTW his bed has rails too.

  • Pregnant with back pain?

I am 22 weeks pregnant with my second kid and my back has been killing me!! It's not the muscles or Braxton Hicks, it feels like I need to see a Chiropractor. I feel like my spine needs some cracking. When I was pregnant with my first, my back was never an issue. I was wondering if anyone had any exercise techniques or suggestions for pain relief. I see my OB next week and I will ask her what her opinion is, but in the meantime any suggestions would be AWESOME! Oh, and I can take Tylenol, but it doesn't really help.

  • Cutting my 2 year olds toenails?

My son just turned 2 and will not let me trim his toenails. He kicks and screams. My husband and I have tried teaming up on one foot but it doesn't work. I've gotten to the point where I just let them grow and they eventually "trim themselves" while my kid runs around and plays. I know that if I don't start trimming them regularly they could become ingrown and stuff. I've tried it when he's sleeping and he KNOWS what I'm doing!! He'll kick and say "no" in his sleep (little bugger!). Bribing doesn't work either... suggestions PLEASE!!!
