  • Not understanding this Algebra word problem..Help would be appreciated?

"The local college put on a show of Chicago. There were 186 tickets sold total. Non-student tickets sell for 16 dollars, and student tickets sell for 12 dollars. If the receipt for one of the shows totals $2, 640, how many of each type of ticket was sold?"

I have the answer, but I don't understand how to get to that point.

I really don't understand how to solve this, or how to set it up..Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advanced.

  • The Name Game - Shirley Ellis (Melissa?)?

I'm looking to learn how to do my name, Melissa, the way Shirley Ellis does in The Name Game song or The Banana Song.

    Here's a link to the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeF7jqf0GU4

I guess there's something different that has to be done when the name starts with an M? And mine does, so.. haha.

If you could tell me how to do Melissa and how to do Austin with the name game, I'd appreciate it!

  • How do I request college information via mail?

I'm looking to receive information (packets, brochures, pamphlets, etc) from the following colleges:

    Shippensburg University (Pennsylvania)

    East Stroudsburg University (Pennsylvania)

    Mansfield University (Pennsylvania)

    Penn State University (Pennsylvania)

    Florida Atlantic University (Florida)

    Daytona State College (Florida)

I've checked the websites of these colleges briefly, but I can't find a place where I could enter my address to have information mailed to me. Is there a way to do this, and if there is, could you possibly link me to it, for as many of the colleges as possible? Thank you kindly in advanced.

  • Online Etiquette Question (Please read details)?

I have a friend on Facebook that is constantly posting status updates about her boyfriend and herself engaging in sexual acts. A lot of people (excluding myself) comment on them saying that she shouldn't be discussing that kind of thing on the internet, where everyone can read it. I'm not sure how she feels about this, because she never comments back, but I'm guessing she doesn't really care because she keeps posting things like that.

My question is is there a way that I could politely tell her that it's somewhat uncouth to post things about that on the internet without upsetting her? I don't want to lose her as a friend, but I don't want to know about her sex life, either. I understand that this is her Facebook account and that she can post whatever she wishes, but at the same time, myself and others don't want to read about that sort of thing (and it's inevitable; you log on and see it), and I just wish she'd have more self respect.

  • Is there a way to reorder my bookmarked apps on Facebook?

I play a few apps, and I love the bookmark feature, but I'd like to reorder them so I can find them quicker. Right now, they're mixed in with my notes, groups, gifts, and links bookmarks (which I don't want and would like to delete) and I can't figure out how to reorder them. Is there a way to do this, and if there is, could you tell me how? Thank you.

  • What should I wear to a country music concert?

I'm going to see George Strait and Reba McEntire on Friday, and I'm really not sure what to wear. I don't have tee shirts for either of them, and I don't have all of the materials to make one. If you could give me some suggestions, that would be great.

  • Why does my jaw keep popping/cracking? (Read details, please).?

This started a few months ago when I was at my orthodontist for an appointment.. They used a cheek extractor to get to my teeth better, and when they took it out, every time I tried to talk I could feel my jaw tighten, and then if I opened it wide enough, it would pop, which kind of hurts.

After that, it started happening occasionally.. It seems as if it does after my jaw has been idle for a while. For example, this often happens when I wake up in the morning, but it usually goes away.

I'm not sure what this is or why it's happening, but it's kind of making me nervous. Does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be or what I should do? I'm thinking about going to the doctor..

  • Help with a new iPod? [Read details]?

I've currently got an iPod Nano 3rd generation, and every time I plug it into a computer, it says there may be a problem with it and I should scan & fix the iPod. I'm afraid if I do this, it will erase all of my songs, so I haven't done it. Will it erase my songs?

Also, I'm getting a new iPod, and iPod Touch, and I was wondering if I plug my iTouch into the computer & use the same iTunes, will it take all of my songs from LimeWire automatically and synch them to the iPod? I think my old iPod was corrupted with a file from LimeWire, and I don't want the new one ruined, so I don't want any LimeWire songs that may corrupt it.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks in advanced.

  • What's the best hairstyle for me? Any styling tips? (Read info).?

It's been a while since I've gotten my hair cut, and I'm sick of my hair being the same way. I'd like to try for something different then how I have it now.

Right now, my hair is about 2 or 3 inches past shoulder length; it's fairly long.

I like the length, because I like longer hair, but a lot of people tell me shorter hair would look best on me. I guess my face shape would best be labeled round.

Also, my hair isn't curly, but it isn't straight, either. It's more wavy. I'm trying to get a better hair straightener to use, like a CHI. Since they're so expensive, I'm not sure if/when I'll be able to get one.. So for the time being, do you have any styling tips that would help to make my hair straight, and stay that way? I'm sick of straightening it, not having it stay, and then throwing it up in a ponytail.

Links to pictures of hairstyles or to styling products would be fabulous and greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advanced.

  • Help with Freshman Quotes?

I'm gonna be a freshman this school year (Starting Monday! :D ) And I was looking for quotes regarding freshman.. Not necessarily inspirational, probably more funny than anything else. There's one in particular that listed all of the grades; It said something about pushing seniors into walls, or something. Ugh I don't remember. hahah but that's the one that I'd love to find.

I'm just looking for a funny one to post on my Facebook and stuff, something having to do with being a freshman.

Any help or list to a resource would be awesome.

  • Suggestions for good acne medications?

I'm 14 years old, & I've had acne on my face for a while now; Maybe a few years. It's very annoying and I hate how it makes me look. I feel like I've tried nearly everything out there. I've used Clearasil creams and acne pads; I've used the Neutrogena Wave, as well as Neutrogena products.. I've used a lot of things. I haven't tried Proactiv yet, only because of the price & people say it sometimes doesn't work for them.

My question is what do you recommend that cleared up acne for you, or for someone you know; Something you know works. I've considered going to a dermatologist about it because it seems to be constantly there and it never clears up. Are there any pills or prescriptions that are created to help with acne for teens?

Thank you for any help or suggestions.

  • Simple ways for an adolescent to make money?

First of all, I'm 14 years old, so quite frankly jobs are limited.

I visit my sister every summer and we do quite a bit of shopping. This year, I'll be spending an entire month there and I'm trying my hardest to earn money to spend. (My parents won't be providing me with spending money for this trip.) I've tried babysitting, but the community I'm in doesn't have a lot of children; the ones that are around I honestly don't feel comfortable controlling. (If you knew them, you'd understand.)

There's a local store called Publix that hires anyone once they turn 14, and I was thinking about applying there, but when the summer came I wouldn't be able to report to work, because I'd be gone for a month, and then to Washington D.C for a week.

I've been saving all of my allowance and any money that's been given to me, (All of my birthday money.) and so far I've got a total of $187.68. I'd still like to have more, however, because I've got a niece and nephew to spoil while I'm there! ;D

If you have any suggestions on how to make money, please list them. I appreciate any answers, but please remember I'm only 14 and can't do very much around here.

Thanks in advanced for any help.

  • Anyone who watches House? (Quick Question, read details.)?

I'm new to watching the show House, but I REALLY like the show. A lot.

    It's one of my favorites.

I know that it comes on USA Network, and sometimes where I live it airs on Fox.

What my question is is what day of the week and time does House come on, new episodes?

I've yet to see an episode from a newer season; all of them that I see are from past seasons.

    Thanks in advanced! :]

  • What's the Proper Way to tell someone....?

I'm in Band in Middle School, and this really annoying girl sits right next to me. I'm an advanced Clarinet player, and she's a beginner. The instructor sat her next to me so if she needed help with something I could do my best to help her out.

My dilemma is she is so annoying which I can normally put up with, but today was the final straw. She asked me what every note on the sheet music was today. I politely told her to check the back of the music book, which had a fingering chart and a name of all the notes for her reference.

She said she didn't feel like it and asked me to name them all.

In between playing music, I did help her but I was very aggravated that I had to not pay attention to what the director said because I had to help her out.

Also, she doesn't even play in class! She's thinking about switching out of band and she doesn't play her Clarinet, but insisted on writing in all of the note names and how to properly finger them.

So my question is, basically, how do I get her to stop bugging me, but be polite at the same time?
