Ancestry.com or 23andme?
I currently doing some research on these to two sights to see which one better works for me. Basically to discover my family tree and heritage/ethnicity.
Do these offer the same services? there is quite a price difference
4 AnswersGenealogy4 years agoWhat do I need for this filter and how will it work?
I'm referring to the two rings at the bottom of this filter. It is for a Oceanic 220 gallon reef ready aquarium I bought used and was unable to talk to the actual previous owner.
The inlet comes in from the upper right. I'm pretty sure I have to buy filter socks? but how do they go? these rings are attached to the bottom. I would think they would need to be higher and let the sock hang from it. I'm I missing something?
1 AnswerFish4 years agoIs it ok if the bio balls in a wet/dry filter for a saltwater aquarium are submerged under water?
I am making a sump out of a 40 gallon tank and I have bio box that fits on top. I was planning on making a chamber right under the box to add more bio balls. I was wondering if the water level in the sump ever rises into the chamber would it kill any beneficial bacteria?
1 AnswerFish4 years agoHave you/can you replace Charbroil inferred grill grates with regular open grates?
I've contacted Charbroil and they said they don't recommend replacing with regular open grates do to the orphases of the burners but I'd thought I'd give it a try anyway.
The inferred grates are closed and just collect all the charred food remains. You scrape it off and it ends up at the front off the grill with no convenient way to remove it and ends up spilling off on your deck.
I plan on selling my grill and getting a new one but I thought I'd try replacing the grates first.
Maintenance & Repairs4 years agoIs this O.K. to eat at night if I was trying to loose weight?
Boneless/skinless chicken breast, steak, or pork tenderloins and a can of veggies or baked beans?
I understand eating before you go to bed is a bad thing if you're trying to loose weight, but sometimes when I get home late from work its eat then bed.

2 AnswersSoftware4 years agoWhat's a remedy for this Planter Fasciitis?
About six months ago after I got layed off from a job I started feeling a pain after a few weeks in my heel just from the 30 minutes of cutting my grass. I've experienced this pain years ago on a job and it was excruciating, so I decided to see a podiatrist this time. He asked what the symptoms where and took x-rays and basically said it was Planter Fasciitis. He gave me a shot in my right foot (worst pain) and compression wrapped both feet. He wanted me to do therapy twice a week for 2 months but after googling it and finding out it was self diagnost and treated I didn't make any more appointments (thank God! outrageous bill!). The pain was gone for a couple months till I went back to work. It came back but I found that rolling a frozen can "cured" it for a few months. I continued to do so, but now I am experiencing pain in left heal and along outside of foot. The pain is the same except when I feel it. I used to feel it after being on my feet for long periods of time, off feet = feel better. But his pain happens when I'm working/being on feet all day then after sitting/resting 20-30 minutes. The first few steps are terrible.
I cant find a remedy for this one. I've tried new insoles, rolling a frozen can, compression socks, hot/cold water soaking, naproxen, stretching, not working. I thought about a night splint but with both instances I've never had pain with the first steps in the morning
What will work??
3 AnswersPain & Pain Management4 years agoHow do you keep your toilets from getting rust/calcium stains?
I have my own well/septic tank and the water has rust and calcium. After less then 4 months my new toilets are staining already. I know I can use CLR to clean, but is there a way to help prevent these stains?
5 AnswersCleaning & Laundry4 years agoHow do you react to your dog when he pisses/shits in the house because you left him alone in the house for a few hours?
I have a 5 year old boxer that I had since he was six weeks old. Typical boxer temperament, He is well behaved and potty trained.
I am a single guy and live alone, ever since I had him. I work in construction and sometimes I am off for a few months (spending a lot of time with him). When I work I either take him to daycare (if possible) or have someone come over and let him out.
I recently went back to work so I would be gone from 6am to about 3:30pm and I would always leave him out in the mourning. The first couple days he had to wait till I got home and he was good, but I did notice he didn't eat either. The last couple days I had a friend let him out.
On my day off I let him out in the morning like usual and later went to run some errands, being gone for 4-5 hours. I came home and he pissed and **** by the front door/window. I don't use this door to let him out but the window is were he looks out and sees me come and go. This could've been because of a change in his schedule because he doesn't do this all the time and there has been times when he was home alone for up 12 hrs (not repeatedly or intended) and he did good. But he has also messed in the house in short periods of time in the passed.
This is not something that happens all the time, just once in a while. Some people would say they do this out of anger, but I also heard this was a myth
How do I react to him and correct this?
7 AnswersDogs4 years agoAre there any mortgage programs available that help lower your balance if you owe more than what your house is worth?
The way the economy has went in the past ten years I owe a lot more than what my house is worth and was wondering if there was a program for homeowners in the same situation.
I've been in my house for fifteen years and refinanced a couple times, the last time in 2009 being a modification lowering my rate and payment, so I don't have a problem with the monthly payment or rate, just with the total amount I owe. I don't want it to be a problem if I deicide to sell.

2 AnswersOther - Internet5 years agoCan you use a 3 gallon pesticide sprayer for stain?
A 2 -3 gallon sprayer, handle at the top that unscrews and you pour the liquid in. You pump it up by the handle and there's a short hose with a trigger you squeeze to spray. they're about $20 at any home improvement store meant for pesticides and weed killers.
The stain in Cabot Australian Timber Oil. It has oils in it but is easily cleaned up with water.
Can I use a sprayer like this to spray a deck?
7 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)5 years agoIs there a way to sync these two stereos together?
I have two A/V receivers, one is a Pioneer and the other a Denon that I plug my tablet into to listen to music (separately). Neither one is Bluetooth but I have a Bluetooth "Unify" that I plug in in place of the tablet to enable bt on one of the stereos.
The Pioneer is in the detached garage and the Denon is in the living room. they are about 100 - 120 ft. apart.
Is there something that would enable me to play music from my tablet and hear it on both stereos?
3 AnswersHome Theater5 years agoIs there a home theater/stereo receiver that has 4 speaker outputs for zone 2?
I plan on putting a theater system in my master bedroom to hook up to my 60" smart TV.
I have a large covered deck outside the room and want to run speakers to it. I listen to music probably more then I watch movies so I am looking for a receiver that can run 4 speakers along with the surround speakers in the room that also has Pandora, SiriusXM, and Spotify in it and not run by Blutooth
3 AnswersHome Theater5 years agoWhat type/size of natural gas line should I run to a fire "pit"?
I am decking my deck and thought it would be a good idea to run a gas line to the center for a future fire "pit" before I cover it.
My gas meter is almost in direct line of where I would have it come up through the deck floor and is about 35' away. Just under half this distance is under the deck, which is 2 steps off the ground.
1 What type off gas line should I use? Black pipe, Proflex or other?
2 What size should I use? I've been told that 1/2" is common for fire pits. Do I run 1/2" all the way from the meter?
3 And I need to bury this? I figured the part under the deck I could just fasten to the bottom of a joist. The part outside the deck would be running along side the foundation of the house.
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs6 years agoIs this rough sawn species of timber going to have attractive look for this outside load bearing structure?
I have a 800 sq ft deck that I'm in the process of putting a "cover/roof" over and I'm hoping the rough sawn treated lumber (syp) is at least going to have a respectable look to it. I was trying to get a "rustic" kind of "post and beam" look.
6x12 headers bearing 4x8 rafters
The roof will be sloped one way and at a very low pitch so the lumber had to be load bearing as I tend to cover it with semi transparent corrugated panels.
I have spent $4200 on this lumber and I live in an old neighborhood so I wasn't looking to drop the bank on this project either
I am thinking there may have been a better choice in species? or will this give a fair appearance after dried out and stained?
2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)6 years agoHow do I get a weed free lawn without poisonous chemicals?
My lawn has always had its unfair share of dandelions and other numerous weeds and I would just dig them out year after year.
But this year it seams my lawn is being over run by ground clover and Creeping Charlie s. I have purchased a pesticide and a 2 gallon sprayer specifically for theses weeds but there is way too much ground cover for this method. I have seen the attachment for your garden hose to use and spray to cover larger areas, but my main issue is that I have my own well for water. The water isn t bad, but I drink it. The well goes down about 80 but I do not want to contaminate it.
Is there a safe, way to rid of these weeds?
Them seem too tedious to pull.
