How do i word wedding invitations for this destinations wedding issue?
I am having a destination wedding in 6 months that i know many people will NOT be attending. We are sending all the invitations anyway, but would like there to be as little pressure as possible. We are also signed up for the Disney Honeymoom registry and would like guests that feel bad about not being able to attend our wedding to be able to contribute to our honeymoon. I cannot find any invitations wording to accomidate what i would like to imply without sounding rude. I am not having a bridal shower or anything else.
12 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoCan I take the $8000 tax credit if we buy my boyfriends parents house?
I know he's not eligible because he is related to the seller, but we are not married yet, so would I be eligible to take the $8000 credit? I will be listed as co-buyer.

4 AnswersCivic Participation1 decade agoAre there any vocal lesson CD's that could help me with my head voice or falsetto?
I am in a rock band and sing strongly most of the time. There are parts of some songs that require a sweeter voice though. I usually can pull it off, but there is one song I sing that requires me to use my falsetto voice on a single note for extended period of time. I seem to have little control over my voice on this part, and I can't seem to make my head voice sound pretty on those single parts.......any recomendations for a CD of exersises and breathing tequniques that focus on falsetto voice control and training?
1 AnswerSinging1 decade agoDo I have a Dairy Allergy or is it something else?
I've been on a high fiber diet for ages. A year ago I started getting tummy gas and narrowed it down to dairy. Yogurt, milk, even lactaid milk and ANY kind of raw cheese, but I could eat homemade mac and chedder as long as the cheese was cooked though. I started taking lactaid before a cheese and turkey sandwich, and it seemed to help, but then I found out that there is hardly any lactose at all in Chedder or yogurt, and those are the two that give me the most problems. And if Lactaid milk still gives me tummy gas than I dont think I'm lactose intollerent. My diet lunc and breakfast consisted of dry high fiber cereal, and for lunch plain turkey on Mulitgrain fiber one bread. I had no issues. I added Fiber one bars to my breakfast, because I used to eat them ALL the time. I started getting the tummy gas again..even if I took a lactaid pill. I also found out that the lactose free coffee creamer was bothering me....It was lactose free, but had a milk divivitive in it. There is milk product in the fiber bars i noticed, but there are a lot of other thing that I eat that contain a bit of milk product in them that don't bother me, plus I can eat a least a cup or two of ice cream, so this is really throwing me off. I see my allergist in two weeks, and plan to ask him to do some food allergy testing on me, but it's so odd that I can eat ice cream, but not yogurt, or milk or even Fiber one bars....
3 AnswersAllergies1 decade agoDoes anyone know how to make the Ranch spice found in Cool Ranch Doritos, or ranch Wheat Thins?
a recipe or a link that could get me there would be fine....I can't seem to find it on the web...all I find is how to get Ranch Dressing, and I don't like Ranch Dressing.....I want to be able to put the spice on vegetables or something so that I don't eat the fatty doritos, but can still have the flavor?
3 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWhat is the best needle size to (machine) sew on a zipper?
Also, is there a website that lists proper needles to use for specific fabrics and procedures?
1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoCan Anyone help, I am having trouble with sewing a zipper with a machine?
I have a 1950's singer featherweight, and though it's a nice machine, i'm ready to throw it out the window out of frustration. Everything has been ok up until I tried to sew the zipper on the skirt I made. The needle kept getting stuck, and sounded too blunt, to I changed it to a sharper, thinner needle. I put it in and made sure it was tight and secure and proceeded to sew. But, only I couldn't sew. The needle would bob up and down, but no stitches would form. The thread then flew out from the needle a few times, so I checked the threading and the tension....everything looked fine......I am stumped, and because I am very new at this, I spent two hours last night trying to figure out what was wrong. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
6 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoDoes anyone have a pair of those goth summery sandals (the ones with studs)?
I saw a pair and was cautious to buy them because they were like $25 or $30, and I need comfortable sandals to walk around Disney World for a week. Or could someone tell me of a pair of sandals (preferably black) that would be very comfortable and keep my ankles from sliding to the sides?
2 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoHow can I sew flimsy fabric to stiff fabric on a 1950's sewing machine?
I am making a skirt that has two types of fabric. soft/stretchy/flimsy, and stiff/firm/easy to work with......I try to sew the two together and as I hold the fabric tight and strait to make a strait seam the softer fabric usually ends stretching out past the stiff fabric....or bunching up because I didn't stretch it out enough. I don't have a machine that does zig zags or anything modern...it's very simple. Should I keep it stretched as much I can so it won't bunch and cut the access off? Or should I use some interfacing or fabric stabilizer to make the fabric easier to work with?
1 AnswerDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoFor any experienced sewing machine oporators, should I use fusable interfacing?
I am new to sewing, and am working on my first project. I have books that are great with detail, except one problem I am having. I am making a two colored pleated skirt (without a patter..I am duplicating one that I bought), with two different types of fabric. The black fabric is stiffer and easy to work with, but the pink fabric I have is soft (what I wanted) and flimsy. As I sew the two materials together I keep the pieces tight, and stretched out. The soft material seems to stretch out more and makes for a uneven stitch. Not only that, if I don't stretch the soft material out as much as I can, it bunches up and l have to remove the stitching and do it all over again. Whats more is that the soft material rolls up on the edges after some time, so it makes it even more hard to redo stuff after that point. My question is should I use fusible interfacing to make the softer material slightly more stiffer so that it is easier to work with? Or should I just stretch the soft material out as much as I can, while sewing a strait line and cut off the access material that extends past the stiffer fabric?
1 AnswerHobbies & Crafts1 decade agoHas anyone used "Just like Sugar", if so does it tase just like sugar?
I am a little hesitant to try it because 1. I have order online because no one carries it around where I live, and 2. It's a bit pricey at $19 lb. I can't find any reviews online either. I've heard about beet sugar, and that it is gross.
4 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoDoes anyone know a website I could find gothic lolita style clothing patterns?
I like goth/lolita style and can find clothing online, but I want to make my own. But I can't find any stores that sell actual patterns for that type of clothing. The only thing i've been able to find are holloween costume patterns. I had to resort to disecting one of my pleated Tripp skirts to figure out how they were put together...I don't want to have to buy stuff to disect just to make copies...I'd much rather have a pattern. Any ideas?
3 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoCough drops for singers?
I like to keep a Menthol Halls in my mouth during band practice and shows, because it keeps my throat from getting itchy, lessens the need for constant water consumption, and keeps my nose and head clear with the vapors (I have chronic allergy and sinus problems).... but I've heard recently the menthol is bad. Why? and what other cough drops would anyone recommend. Are the spearmint halls just as bad too? Please only recommend some I can buy at a drug store.
5 AnswersSinging1 decade agoAny recommendations for a singer with daily allergies all year and a dry/sore throat every morning?
I already see an allergist that gave me Astalin for my allergies. It helped a great deal, although not completely. I also use a Neti pot every evening. I drink plenty of water. I usually drink 2 liters at practice alone, and probably 3 liters on a normal daily basis. I even bought a humidified (warm mist). First night I had it it was all the way up and I woke up stuffy. On low setting though, my throat is not too bad when I wake up, although still a bit scratchy. I'm planning on buying a singers throat spray, but how often will I need to spray? I suck on menthol halls sometimes just to keep my throat lubricated and it helps my stuffiness. Is menthol OK for my voice? If not, what are some alternatives, and is there anything else I can possibly do to prevent waking with a dry throat?
2 AnswersAllergies1 decade agoAny advice for a first musical live band performance?
I recently joined a band, and it's my first. We are booked for a Performance for a small local club. They club is no big deal, but it's my first REAL live performance. I did karaoke clubs a lot just for fun, but now that it's a real band I actually care about my performance, and voice control. I've heard alcohol before a performance is bad, so how do I loosen up, especially for a first timer? I know to drink a lot of water, and I usually down at least 2 liters at practices, so i'll have that covered. But I'm nervous about the PA system. And I'm especially nervous that their floor monitors won't work properly and I won't be able to hear myself to keep on track. The band is just a rock band, so the guys are just going in black jeans, and whatnot......will it be appropriate for me to wear the gothic dresses, and cute fairy style outfits that I like so much (and spent money on).....i feel pretty unsure of everything right now....accept the fact that I can't wait to finally perform......any advice?
