I'm creating a VB.net program where a character seeks objects. If it were located at 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees to the character, it would adjust its X or Y by 1 square at a time. I need to know how to calculate the amount to adjust the X and Y co-ordinates for other angles so that the character moves the same distance as though it were going straight.

I want to build a system of sensors that detect when someone passes through a doorway. I was thinking of putting one on each side so that I can detect whether they enter or exit, and feed the information to a PC.

What kind of sensor would be best?

In Genesis 2:16-17, God instructs Adam that he may eat from every tree except for the tree of knowledge of good and evil. If Adam and Eve needed to eat from the tree of knowledge to know the difference between good and evil, how could they know that it was wrong to disobey God?

I am buying a power adapter to replace one that is broken. I've found one online that says it's a fixed voltage power adapter. Is that just a normal power adapter or will it be incompatible with the device.

I am trying to find a plant for a lady I am interested in. She says she remembers a plant from when she was a child that had black bat-like leaves, and small flowers which she thinks were possibly purple. She thinks there might have been Dracula in the name of the plant, but she's not sure whether that was just what she called it as a child.

I live in the UK, so it'd have to be a plant that is available in the UK. I will relay any questions back to her if you need further details.

She says the plant was lower than knee-height.

Or is it a shrimp like animal like it is in the UK? My fiancée says that scampi is a sauce because there's a Campbell's sauce called Shrimp Scampi, but all the sources on the internet says Americans use scampi to refer to a shrimp-like animal.

I looked at my bin and I saw what I thought were very small grains of sand, but then I noticed they were moving. The rubbish in the bin had started to compost and smelled like mushrooms. What could this be?

I'm in a long distance relationship and visiting as often as I can, but I am planning to move to America sometime down the line. In the mean time, I do a lot of shopping from US stores online, and shipping the goods to my girlfriend's address, but I have found that a lot of shops don't accept UK billing addresses.

I have a travel money card which I can load with pounds sterling, and make payments in US dollars, but the billing address is my UK address, so it still doesn't work on some sites.

I am repairing a laptop that has overheating issues. Upon removing the heat sink, I found that there was thermal compound around the CPU chips, not just on them. As the area around the CPU chips is circuit board, I want to know if the thermal compound can be removed using acetone as I used on the chips themselves, or if I should leave it.
