  • How do you as a Christian view the Friday sundown - Saturday sundown Sabbath as it was in the Bible?

I have read the 29th Canon from the Council of Laodecia - after hearing about the Sabbath being changed by man. I then went on to read more of my Bible concerning the importance of the Sabbath as Jesus and Paul kept it (sundown Friday until sundown Saturday), with the main (but not only) scriptures being:

Exodus 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

We are grafted into Israel - Romans 11:17-27

The Sabbath will still be kept in the New Heaven and New Earth - Isaiah 66:22

Also, Jesus kept that Sabbath as did the Apostle Paul and the disciples... So I have been meditating on keeping this as Sabbath, as opposed to Sundays.

My question is really how do you (aimed at Christians like myself) understand the Sabbath and celebrate it and how do you feel about it being changed to a Sunday?

  • Is Y!A just a place where everyone is trolling each other?

I mean who doesn't enjoy a sound dialogue, dialetic, debate etc... But a majority of these questions are just silly or petty and the same can go for some answers (or worse). It's hard to ask a serious question here, find a serious question that is by someone who is really seeking an answer, and to answer without getting crapped on.

I haven't been here in a while - but it seems like a lot of people just spending time trolling on everyone else. Can we improve it here for all of us, or is it just everyone mud-slinging each other out of mere boredom etc? I am fine with controversial topics or whatever, but questions that are meaningful, thoughtful and for sharing views with respect without denying your own beliefs?

  • Someone using my account?

I logged into my Y!A account after not being on for a few months... I found someones used my account, changed my display name to "Franco T" (?, I changed it back), asked all these questions (in spanish !?) and has been merrily doing their own thing. What do I do now, is there someone on Y!A I can email about this? Might sound silly but it was a bit shocking.

    Thanks for your help,

    Take care, God bless

  • A Fraudster in my home...? Between you and me...?

I have a couple, who are friends of mine, that rent a room together in my house. I have known them both individually for a few months, thats how they got together. The man is a friend, and the woman (around 49 years old ~ but you wouldn't pick it!) I knew a little longer.

A few fishy things happened, and the lady has told me some stories of horrific incedences in her life. I thought I would just Google her name because something didn't feel right...

I found out she's been convicted of MAJOR fraud (incl. Government departments) for amounts around 20 to almost 50 thousand dollars at a time (three separate offences years apart), and has served time in jail. I also found out that the name she uses is not her real name, among many other things.

I tried to get her 'fiance' to 'google people's names cos its fun!' because I think he has no clue about her past & that made her nervous and he didn't. All I think about is "I know the truth" when i c her. can't tell anyone... Advice???

  • Jehovah's Witness discussion... serious only please?

**This is an honest question to which I want only honest and respectful answers. If you've had experience in this situation... all the better**

I am a born again Chritian (as alot of you would gather :-) )

A while ago I had a JW witness to me at my front door, and we had a friendly discussion during which we disagreed amicably. He recently returned with a fellow witness, and we have a discussion time on Friday.

I am hoping to see their point of view so I understand more of what they believe and why... and I wish to minister to them as well.

I know for sure that they have a point to discuss with me about salvation needing to be reached for daily (para.), and also a discourse on the '144,000' in Rev... amongst many things.

    I guess I am asking:

    * How would you approach this situation

    * What would you prepare for the meeting?

    * Anything else

    JW's

    * Do you think they would mind if we prayed before the meeting?

    * Will they continue meeting with me?

  • JW's... Jesus is Micheal the Arch-angel??

Hi guys, yet another question for you all... probably sick of me by now :-)

Just would like the scriptural references and any other info you could give me about the concept of Jesus being the arch-angel Micheal, because I can't find anything to support this myself.

Take care... blessings to you all :-)

  • Jesus is God? JW's?

    In Revelations 1:17-18 :

And when I saw him, I fell as dead at his feet.

And he laid his right hand upon me and said: “Do not be fearful. I am the First and the Last,

18 and the living one; and I became dead, but, look! I am living forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and of Ha´des.

And in Rev. 2:8 : “And to the angel of the congregation in Smyr´na write: These are the things that he says, ‘the First and the Last,’ who became dead and came to life [again],

How could Jehovah become dead, but is alive?

Rev 17:14 : These will battle with the Lamb, but, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, the Lamb will conquer them. Also, those called and chosen and faithful with him [will do so].”

How can Jesus be Lord of lords if Jehovah is the only Lord of lords (Deut 10:17) and Jesus is a son only?

How, in John 1:1 can it say "... the Word was A god", but then maintain that Jehovah is the only God?

I'd like to know your thoughts? No rudeness please guys

  • 144,000 in Revelations. JW's?

In Revelations 7 there is the 144,000 that are sealed. If this number is literal and only this exact number are sealed... anyone who is not a member of any of those twelve tribes will not be sealed for that 'heavenly hope'.

So if this is literal, how do you get to be one of them, if you are not PHYSICALLY born in one of the twelve tribes?

  • A personal email from JW calling Y!A user SATAN!!??

This is a personal message I got from Moises_Frias about a message I gave :

    ------------

    From: Moises_Frias

    Subject: heaven

Message: Please talk to other people, like Satan , that were JW's for such a long time, then freed themselves from it.

What references would give Satan about heaven? I guess a good one..... and if not then must be true... cause he says so....

    ----------------

This was based on an answer I gave to a question someone gave about the general hate of JW's... I don't join in on the hate, and never said I agreed with the hate, although I disagree with their religion...

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkPr....

They cut and pasted part of my answer, and took out Unsilenced Lamb's name, and pasted "SATAN".... what a demonstration!! The question is, does that sort of thing make them feel better? hmm.... I pray for them... ur opinion?

  • Forbidding to marry?

Read from 1 Tim 4:1 KJV

    1.Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

    2. Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

    3. FORBIDDING TO MARRY, and commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving OF THEM WHICH BELIEVE AND KNOW THE TRUTH

So what are your opinions on this?? Priests being forbidden to marry, does this show that they do not know the truth? I am not meaning to be disrespectful, and I am aware of Paul saying that in HIS opinion it was not the best for a man to marry.... Anyway, I just want your fair opinions ~ and keep it nice please!!

  • Do you know that God consider's you righteous??

When you are born again, you are made righteous ~ you were justified ~ you were sanctified!

You can read in Rom 8:1, we see that "there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit".

Did you know that you were justified? We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23), but thankfully we have recieved the righteousness of Jesus when we were born again (Rom 5:17) and justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus (Rom 3:24). We have been made the righteousness of God (2 Cor 5:21). You have been sanctified throught the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all (Heb 10:10). Read HEB 10~God doesn't wish for us to feel guilt and less than worthy due to sin.

God sees us as righteous even tho we repent of our sins.

I know many follow a more 'sin conscious' doctrine, but do you consider these scriptures? Do you feel the weight of sin? No judgements please :D
