  • When submitting poems to a publisher, should each poem go in a separate word document?

So when submitting poetry the publishing website often say you can submit 3-5 poems at a time. My question is, should they all go in separate word documents, or should they all go in the same word document? And if so, how should I seperate individual poems within that one word document?

  • What can I do with a MA/PhD in English Literature BESIDES teaching?

I want to pursue an MA, (and eventually, my long term goal is PhD) in english literature. But...I have no interest in teaching classes. I like the idea of being involved in academia, pursuing some sort of research while I write my own creative fiction in my free time. I LOVE being in school, learning, researching. But, I don't specifically care for talking to people. I'm not a social person, and this is why I don't care to teach. I guess I'm willing to teach, if I absolutely have to, in order to work at a University and be involved in academic research. But is there a concrete and practical academic career goal I can have that would justify the time and money I would spend pursuing graduate degrees in English that dosen't revolve around teaching classes? The alternative is to just get a MFA in creative writing and hope it helps my writing career....but I'm afraid going this route will not satisfy my craving for general literary knowledge, nor prepare me for any future in academia...

  • How to Remove Space Between Paragraphs in Word?

I have a large document and I want to remove the spacing between paragraphs, essentially doing away with the paragraphs. How can I apply that change to the whole document, without having to go and manually hit the backspace key and delete the space between every single paragraph?

  • I can t stop word from Adding Space Between Paragraphs?

I have a large document that needs to be double spaced between the lines. The paragraphs already have adequate space between them. I need to double space the lines WITHOUT adding additional space between paragraphs. How can I do this? Clicking the box "Don t add space between paragraphs of the same style" does absolutely nothing to the document.

  • How to Indent Every Paragraph After Document is Written in microsoft word?

In word, I understand how to go to paragraph and set the indent to achieve the tab affect on every paragraph. My question is, how can I indent every paragraph of a document AFTER it has already been written, without going through and hitting tab on every single paragraph. This is a 120,000 page book. I would hate to have to indent every paragraph manually. Surely there must be a way to indent them all at once?? Thanks!

  • Which wire one is the "hot" wire in my bathroom?

I have a house thats 106 years old. Don't know how old the wiring is or who installed it. But I am trying to change my single gang bathroom switch to a double gang for the sole purpose of having the exhaust fan on its own switch, as opposed to the one switch controlling both as it is right now. I am confused about the black wire being the hot wire. Because as I look at the wring, there is both a black and white wire that goes to the switch, and then a black wire is coming from the switch to the lights/fan, and then and then black wires are coming from the lights/fan back into the conduit that leaves the room. If black is hot, why/how is it going to the devices first, before the switch?

  • Kholer Lawn Mower Engine Died?

Have a kholer engine in a toro push mower. Its a little over 4 years old. I was mowing, and then it just suddenly died. I noticed it seemed easier than usual to try and pull start it. But it didn t start. Sprayed some starter fluid in the carb. It started for a few seconds, and made a loud knocking noise, then died again. What gives? Oil level and color looks fine, no gas in the oil. Any thoughts?

  • What is the point of researching Global Warming?

Science has shown that the Earth is warming at a rapidly alarming rate. Even if you don't believe that humans are at fault, the scientists believe the the earth is warming. So my question is, if the scientists "know" that the earth is warming, why do they continue to research this topic? Why do they "beat a dead horse" by "proving" the same thing the supposedly already know, over and over? And more importanly, how do they get funding for proving the same thing, over and over? If one wanted to make a difference, it seems to me that they would either go into politics in an effort to make policy changes, or they would go into engineering and develop more efficient and cheaper means of harvesting renewable energy. Why would anyone spend their time (and money) to show the earth is warming when we already know this?

  • Do companies get offended if their ad appears on an offensive blog?

I'm fairly new to "blogging", but I want to monetize my blogs just for the heck of it. I'm not really interested in writing stuff that appeals to the mass market, and I will most likely write about some offensive topics and not hesitate to include profanity where applicable. (I'm more into fiction writing than I am product reviews...) I mean, there are no rules that say you can't write whatever you want, right? What if I write some hardcore erotica, (or a review for it) and an ad for a diaper brand appears based on the readers recent purchases. Wouldn't the diaper company be a little put off by having the product for children associated with adult content?

  • How does sub woofer NOT drain car battery?

I m reading instructions for the installation of a powered sub woofer, and they all say connect the red wire directly to the battery. If I do that, how is it NOT going to drain the battery? Wouldn t I want to connect the sub s power wire to a wire connection that is only live after turning the ignition switch? I know, what i really need is a lesson in electricity haha... I know that i can plug a horn directly to the positive battery terminal, because its not going to drain the battery unless I m laying on the horn button. But if a sub is connected, how do I know its not draining the battery even if I don t have the radio on? ***I know I m not supposed to connect the automatic choke wire on my carb to the battery because it will drain it, even when when the automatic choke is not being used. This is why I have hesitation to connect anything directly to the battery positive terminal...

    Thanks!!

  • Difference between 4 speed, vs. 3 speed with overdrive transmission?

Just wondering what exactly the difference is between a 4 speed transmission and a 3 speed transmission with overdrive.. What the heck is overdrive?

This is in reference to manual transmission. I know I have overdrive on my automatic truck, which I have never ever used, but was told it can be helpful for towing uphill at slow speeds? I am more interested in street rod application however, as I am looking at buying a toploader transmission for a ford galaxie... I will probably be going with a plain 3 speed as they seem to be the least expensive, but am curious as to what "overdrive" means in these transmissions....

    Thanks!!!

What is this block/spacer my Carb is sitting on?

I have a 390 fe and am about to install a new carb, but I noticed that the old on is sitting on this block/spacer thing, as opposed to sitting directly on the manifold. There are a couple of hoses that are going into it (vent hoses I think, one from radiator, another from the valve cover breather hole..). Should these hoses be plugged directly into the carb? Does it hurt performance any to have the carb raised up like this? And should I be using TWO carb gaskets here? A carb gasket UNDER this thing, between the spacer and the manifold, and another gasket between the carb and the spacer?

  • Underlayment for mosaic tile?

Ok so im trying to get a mosaic tile floor border the same height as the ceramic tiles. This is on a concrete floor that is not perfectly at the esges, which is why im doing edges with mosaic but the mosaic is really thin. Because floors not perfectly flat i cant use pluwood or backer board. I hear ditra is perfect for this, but i dont want to spend $300 on a roll when i only meed about 10-15 sq ft worth. Maybe rubber aheeting that is 2mm to an 1/8 thick would be perfect, but where can i find auch a product? Thinner the better because i can always build it up with extra layers... Im almost tempted to cut up a bunch of bicycle innertubes..that would be cheap, but take a lot of time. Theres got to be an easy (and reltively inexpensive) way to do this! And dont tell me to build up the thickness with thinset, because ive tried that and it dosent work. Impossible to get it even using thinset, theres always a mosaic here and there thats aunken in or raised up, its a disaster, i dont care what anyone says haha. Oh and metal lath is another idea that sounds like it would work, but in reality it is very impractical to try and cut into numerous 2,3,4 inch strips and have it lay flat. Any ideas?

  • Explain "Tuner" or Modern (computerized) Car Mechanics?

OK so I understand classic car mechanics, as in cars 1960s and older. Everything involving fuel injection, coil packs and computers (computers on cars?!?) is over my head, but I'm trying to learn. I've been reading about these things called "tuners" that you can buy and I guess plug in to somewhere on the car and make it perform better just by pushing the right buttons? Is that how ignition timing is set these days? Just watched that fast and furious movie recently where they were doing something to their engines by using laptops in their cars. I know that is just a movie, but still... I feel so behind the times! What the heck is going on with these newer cars? When did everything get so "computerized"? I'm only 30 years old, but I grew up learning "hot rod" style of mechanics, and have never personally known someone who is into the newer stuff so I never bothered to learn, but I guess my curiosity is getting the better of me. Perhaps there is a book or website somewhere that someone could recommend that might break it down for me a little better. I don't even know where to begin! haha. Thanks!

  • Will Replacing Intake Manifold do Much for Overall Power/Sound?

Got a 65 galaxie with a 390 fe. I plan on replacing just about everything, EVENTUALLY... but the intake im looking at, a edelbrock rpm performer, is a $550 part and I m wondering if its really going to make any significant difference in power (or sound), or should I hold off on the intake for now and get headers and exhaust instead. I will be installing a holley 4 barrel 750 cfm carb before anything else, and I was concerned if there were going to be any issues with running a new carb like that with the stock intake...?

    Thanks!!

  • Best car speaker / Sub system for overall sound quality?

Just looking to get some general ideas as to what brand, types, or options of car speaker and sub systems I might want to research and consider. Looking for best overall sound quality for all music types, but ultimately I listen to classic rock more than anything. Dosen t mean I don t like subwoofers though... I want it to sound good, and sound good LOUD when I want it loud, and sound good at normal volume when the wife is in the car ;)

I know engines, but I don t know the first thing about stereo systems. So any general ideas or advice on where to start would be appreciated. Its a 65 Ford sedan...so its a huge car with an enormous trunk.Money is not really an issue here, but how much should I expect to be spending all said and done? Thanks!

  • Why isn t confederate money notes worth more?

I was just amazed to see that a 1864 $10 bill of confedate money is only going for $25-$60 or so on ebay. Is there really that much of an abundance of that stuff still around?
