Comma use in a list with abbreviations?
Is the following sentence correct? I know I could spell out 'incorporated,' but is it correct to put a comma after an abbreviation?
"Other companies include Company A Inc., Company B Inc., and Company C Inc."
1 AnswerWords & Wordplay8 years agoBuying a rebuilt title vehicle (totaled due to paint job): is it worth it?
I am considering buying a rebuilt title truck. It is in the shop for inspection but I have not yet signed the bill of sale.
It is a 98 dodge ram 1500 (3.9 V6 Magnum) with 142,000 kilometers. It was totaled due to the paint job. They are asking $3250 CAD. I am in Alberta.
Here is the info:
- Carpoof report shows no accident claims, but does list the "miscellaneous" claim for the paint job.
- After listed as a salvage title, the truck was fixed up to meet a stringent inspection. It is currently insured and on the road.
- Will be used as a work truck. My insurance company will insure it if it passes inspection today.
I know it will be difficult to resell, so I would probably keep the truck and run it into the ground. Is there anything else I should watch for? Does anyone else have experience with rebuilt title vehicles? What are some of the problems I might face?
3 AnswersBuying & Selling9 years agoWhen using a remote connection to a computer can you turn the Caps Lock function off?
In using real VNC to remotely connect to a computer, is there a where to turn the Caps Lock function from on to off? Or do you have to do that by manually pushing the keyboard?
3 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoHow do you build a 6 foot wide fence gate?
Some say you should have no more than a 5 ft wide fence before using two gates, but I wonder if there is a way to make a 6 foot gate with strong hinges so it won't sag.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWhat is the difference between origanum vulgare and origanum minutifloram?
Are the wild oregano types origanum vulgare and origanum minutifloram diffferent in some important way, or are they 2 different names for the same plant. Oil of organo is sometimes said to contain 1 or the other. One company seems to use the names interchangeably.

1 AnswerAlternative Medicine1 decade agoHow do we install ati radeon hd 4550 with Windows 7?
We get an error that windows 7 64 bit, can't open AsIo.sys when it starts up, and that seems related to the ati radeon hd 4550 graphics card. Everything seems to run fine most of the time, except for periodic switches to large icons from small. We reinstalled the new radeon drivers from their site but that did not work, even though it installed without apparent errors.
Thanks
3 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoInstalling CanoScan d1250u2 drivers for VISTA?
I found the drivers from the Canon website and unzipped them onto my computer. When I plug in the scanner and Windows starts looking for the driver, I manually direct it to the new folder. Windows then tells me that it cannot find the drivers.
I have tried this Canon driver from numerous sources without luck. I also have the installation CD, but my computer also doesn't recognize the driver on there.
2 AnswersScanners1 decade agoHow do you remove the drive axles from a 93 mazda so trans axle can be removed?
The manual says it can be disconnected from the trans axle without needing to remove it from the hub, but we don't see how. As well we tried to remove the axle nut, but even with a lot of force we have no luck, any suggestions? thanks
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade ago1990 subaru legacy 2.2 4wd overheats?
This is after a head gasket job. No coolant leaks, but engine overheats in under ten minutes on a cool day.
I have read suggestions to bleed the coolant system-how do I do that (i see a cap on driver's side coolant hose--do I just take that off to release pressure--do I do this while the engine is running?).
Also, I am not sure if the thermostat is in backwards (but I copied the picture in the Haynes manual).
One of the two rad fans doesn't work. Is having only one rad fan enough to cause the overheating?
Finally, how do you tell of the water pump is working properly--I wouldn't want to do a big job if this wasn't the problem.
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHow do you get a 1990 Subaru to start when it has spark and gas to cylinders.?
We replaced head gaskets and timing belt on old subaru legacy 2.2 litre engine. It turns over, and plugs spark, and smell of gas when we take them out. It does not fire up. It was running when we recieved it even though there was antifreeze in the oil and gaskets were very blown from being driven over heated. After putting it back together with attention to timing belt adjust as manual suggested, we are stuck. We changed to new gas, and tried to clean out fuel filter. Any tips would be great.

I was wondering if the American Government public image in other countries, inhibits people from being aware of how kind and generous a lot of Americans actually are.
3 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWhat role do we play in the 'moods' we experience?
We can wake up in a good mood, or bad mood, for no apparent reason. Do we consciously or unconsciously act or think in ways that bring them about?
2 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoDo TM siddhis practitioners actually levitate as claimed?
The TM people can learn to levitate or fly with yogic techniques. There are videos of them hopping around on foam. Is there any empirical evidence that they actually can 'float' or 'levitate' long enough that scientists accept their claims? Do they have videos of floating, or documented proof from independent scientific researchers?
3 AnswersMythology & Folklore1 decade agoIn winter is it best to turn down thermostat a small amount or large amount while away from home?
When we turn the temperature down to say, 40 degrees F, while away in winter the furnace has to run less. Someone told us it is better to just turn it down a few degrees ( ie. 65 or max 62 Fahrenheit), as it costs twice as much to heat the house back up to room temperature as we save by lowering it. The suggestion was that if we are away for quite a while, like a month, the much lower temperature would save money, but if only gone for a few days it costs too much to get the house warmed up again. Is it true that it costs much more to heat a house back up to room temperature, than we save by lowering the thermostat to a low temperature, and for what length of time would one have to leave it at the lower temperature for it to be a cost saving?
9 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoHow do you pick the correct welding shade for different types of welding?
For MIG and Flux core welding, do you need a differently rated shade. We have a # 10, and don't know how to tell when we could need a darker shade like a 12 for example. Somewhere we read about looking at a bare light bulb to see if you can see the outline of it as an indicator of needing a darker shade. We are just learning about welding and would like to know when an auto darkening system is better and how to pick a good one.

2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoDo newer high percentage filtration furnace filters damage furnaces?
A plumber told us that the newer style furnace filters that remove a high percentage of the dust and pollens restricts airflow enough to strain the furnace fan. He said to go back to the older style that filters out much less. Someone else said these high filtration filters are just fine and cause no problems. Does anyone have good information about this situation?
