  • What is more likely to be causing a "knocking" sound in my vehicle when I go over bumps? The sway bar links or struts?

So I have a 2009 jeep patriot, I took it to the mechanic and he said I need to replace the front struts/links.

I want to look after one at a time so I'm wondering... what is more likely to be causing the knocking sound i've been experiencing when I go over slight bumps? I'm thinking sway bar links?

  • Can a bad waterpump rev like an engine?

So i'm told my waterpump is failing, however it was just mechanic opinion from listening to it (I work with mechanics). I was curious, because I do hear some grinding noises, he might be right.

Only problem is, my car makes a lot of noise when revving my engine and idling down from certain speeds sometimes. It's not JUST the grinding noise. Can this revving noise be the water pump revving with the engine? I've heard things about the water pump being attached to the same belt as the engine but the problem is the engine is chain driven.

Its a 2009 jeep patriot at 99,000 km

  • Can a bad waterpump cause rough idling and engine noise?

So I work for a mechanic company, and had one of the mechanics listen to my vehicle. There is a grinding noise, almost like a bearing. And he said it was probably the water pump when listening.

My question is, can faulty water pumps cause a rough idle? When I start my car it is HELLA loud until I put it in drive it quiets down a bit but I can still hear the gridning noise faintly. Also when I slow down, my car makes a lot of noise. The noise is also louder when I put on my A/C. So thats why I think it's a timing chain issue, the chain might be the grinding noise i hear and the rough idle could possibly be the chain throwing the timing off?

    Thank you for any help.

  • When I start my jeep it idles rough and high RPM. Also does this sometimes when slowing down.?

My jeep patirot is nearing 100,000KM and has recently started having some issues.

First, when it starts up the engine sounds so loud and idles at approxiamtely 1500 RPM which I feel like is much louder than normal. It goes normal when I put it in gear.

However, when I drive- in 1st and sometimes second gear it sounds much louder than normal but when I get to a higher gear it sounds better.

Also sometimes, when stopped at a light, i've heard a bit of vibration in the car near engine.

Can this be a spark plug issue?

  • Should it bother me that my girlfriends slept with way more people than me before?

Is it immature or is it a valid thing that might break the relationship? She's been with 10 guys and I lost my virginity to her. I never thought about it until recently when she brought up my past and I started thinking about hers. She was mostly in relationships but said she had a "slut" year.

  • Is a clunking CV AXLE enough worry to not drive before getting it replaced?

I've had a clunking noise from my CV axle when I accelerate and take my car off the brakes. I know it needs to be replaced but I'm leaving for vacation soon a 500 km drive.

Is the clunking just a noise or should I be concerned with safety?

  • Is there a natural chemical that makes mothers WANT to take care of their offspring?

I know that mothers obviously take care of their children because they love them and it's their responsibility. But I'm just curious, even in the animal kingdom mothers naturally take care of their young without knowing why they should or shouldn't.

So I'm just curious, is there a natural chemical released during birth or instinct that science has actually proven triggers something in mothers that makes them want to nurture their young?

  • Do 404 redirects make for bad SEO?

    I was curious.

Our website was redesigned, my boss chose the firm.

    They seem like amateurs.

I wanted them to keep the link structure for our store pages, which appear pretty good in google, like

    http://website.com/prov/city

    but they changed it to

    http://website.com/location

any time I google one of the stores and click a result it says 404 ERROR

  • Is it weird that certain things bug me about my girlfriend?

I'm curious if I am just being a total asshole or not.

I've been dating this girl for 4 months and really enjoy spending time with her and she has a great personality, BUT after having spent more and more time with her, is it normal that I find her kind of irritating, because she tries WAY too hard to CONSTANTLY be cute and like quirky around me?

For example, she almost always talks to me in a high-pitched really cute voice and says stuff like

" BAAAABBBEEE" and over-pronounces it kind of like a kid. And she'll just do random stuff like do dorky/cute dances in front of me in her underwear while I'm watching TV, which yea is attractive the first time but when you know someone's doing it for your attention you're kind of like... meh. And then like, when she does cute stuff and I try to ignore it I can see her in the corner of my eye like staring at me really hard to see my reaction to whatever cute thing she just did.

  • In Iraq/Afghanistan are IEDs typically planted in groups?

Was watching a video of a soldier stepping on one and I was curious ... if your squad were to find an IED or set one off, is there typically going to be more IEDs nearby? Or do insurgents usually only plant one per area?

  • How do I break up with my girlfriend if she's crying and all that?

What is the best way to break up with a woman? I know she is going to cry and want to talk it through-

I want to be respectful but still get it done and not have to stick around too much.

It's been 3 months, can I do it over the phone?

I was planning on going there but the phone would be easier. If I am there, should I just make it short and leave or should I talk to her about it...

if she cries do I hug her lol?

  • Can you sue someone for not paying rent if it's a verbal contract?

So my dads friend was living with him. My dad was on the lease, he was not (which is why it gets confusing).

Anyway, he owed my dad money so he told him he would pay rent. He kept going to the office and saying he payed. It turns out that he hadn't payed for 3 months and was actually just tearing the notices off the door when they tried to notify my dad that he wasn't paying.

He also hid a notice they received about my dad having to go to court about it. (we assume).

Because they had a verbal contract, are there any grounds to sue his friend in small claims court? Or are we out of luck?

  • Is it possible for your body to go into starvation mode from too much exercise?

Alright so I completely flipped a switch. I went from not working out and eating crap to taking up running and completely changing my diet. Was running a 5k three days a week and doing weights and lost like 9 lbs in a week or so. But then all of sudden I started climbing back up, feel like it was as soon as I had my one cheat a week.

Soo my question is, if I went from eating say 5000 calories a day with no exercise then suddenly went to eating 3000 calories a day while burning another 1000.... Would that drastic change put my body into starvation mode? Even though I'm still eating, feeling full, and working out?

  • If a girl texts you in the middle of the night?

So there's this girl from work, shes 26 and I'm 24 . She broke up with her boyfriend 2 weeks ago and she KIND of flirts with me but other than that I really have no read on her other than she'll send me the odd text about traffic or a joke. Anyway, last night she sent me a text while I was asleep at 3 AM And says "hey.. U awake?".

What are the chances this is a hookup invite?

  • In a football passing play, the offensive line always steps backward right?

    I'm coaching pee-wee. Haven't played since highschool.

From what I can recall, is a pass, offensive line takes their pivot step backwards, digs in and blocks and creates a pocket for QB. But this other coach says they should be stepping forward and initiating contact, which to me seems wrong and haven't been able to find any other sources saying this is right.

    Am I right?

Again, I know that in advanced levels some o-lines step fwd like it's a run but this is just pee-wee. I need the rule for MOST times.
