  • Rattling sound from heating circulation pump?

The circulation pump from my central heating system, which is about 10 years old, started making rattling noises yesterday and it continues. So far it's still working, but does anyone have any idea how much time I've got left? Would it make it until spring or could it break down in the following days?

Want to replace the complete system around May, that's why I'd like to postpone replacement of this part.

  • Compact Folding Ladder - experience?

    Hi,

I'm looking for a compact folding ladder for use in and around the house. I've seen two models I'm interested in:

    http://www.jcwhitney.com/jcwhitney/product.jcw?nva...

    or another model:

    http://nts2009.en.ec21.com/Aluminium_Multi_Functio...

Anyone any experience with such ladders? As easy to use as in the video? Stable or rather wobbly?

  • Would consumers buy from a .eu website? Would you?

For an internationally operating small e-commerce company, it's tempting to set-up a .eu European domain instead of buying a domain name for each individual country. I just wonder if that would affect the business.

What's your guess or personal attitude? If 100% of people would order a simple home product from a .co.uk site, how many would still order the same product at the same price from a .eu site?

    90%? 70%? 50%

  • Stains on my window glass?

We have terrible stains on our window glass for quite some time now. They look like the remainder of dried drops of hard water, but that's not what they are. We've tried different products, like calcium remover for coffee makers, saltpeter remover, etc. but nothing works.

Someone told me that they are coming from a product that's in the mortar of our brick walls and that you can only scrape it off, but that's amost infeasible.

    Anyone other suggestions?

  • Strange visual phenomenon off the coast?

A few years ago, I witnessed a strange visual/atmospheric phenomenon (mirage?) off the belgian coast. Lasted for about 20 min, then faded. Heavy rainfal?I still don't know what it was and I'm still curious, so I uploaded it on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BYA0KfeSE4

  • Good compost bin, minimum effort?

I'd like to buy a compost bin, but I don't really have green fingers and don't want to go out in the garden every second day to turn a compost pile. I've seen tumbler compost bins that look OK, but they can't hold much compost.

Then I've seen this earthmaker compost bin http://www.cleverandeasy.com/Time-Saving/earthmake... , which looks promising, at least it doesn't require a lot of turning. But it's not too cheap either, so I wonder if it's worth the expense. Anyone any experience with this one, or better suggestions?

  • Panasonic camcorder 16:9 problem?

I've got a 7 year old Panasonic DV camcorder. I always capture the footage to my PC hard disk for editing. I normally film in 4:3 mode, but I filmed some footage in 16:9 mode as well.

Now, this 16:9 footage is OK when watching it on the camcorder's LCD, it has black bars at the top and bottom. But when capturing it to my hard disk, a second pair of black bars is added to the image, vertically compressing the video and covering about 1/4 of the top and bottom of the screen with black bars. I've tried playing around with the camera's settings when capturing, tried 2 versions of Video Studio and 2 versions of Scenalyzer for capturing, nothing helps.

    Anyone an idea?

  • Plexiglas safety nearby lamp?

I want to cover a halogen lamp with a plexiglas acrylic cover. There's sufficient space between the lamp and the plexi, but I've read that halogen lamps can explode.

Does anyone know if parts from the lamp falling on the plexi could set it on fire? If you have link to more detailed info that would be great.
