I currently live in a guesthouse. The mail always goes next door and my mail often gets misplaced. Is there a way to put up a box to separate my mail from theirs?
2 AnswersOther - Home & Garden8 years agoHow do I send a letter to hospital's IT department?
Extra Details
--------------------
I live in a small town off the coast of GA. I have a lot of experience working with computers. I have an associate's in business with an emphasis on information technology. I was working on my bachelor's in IT and had to leave for family health reasons. Going back to college right now is up in the air. That probably kills a lot of job prospects, but I'm curious about our local hospital. They probably work with Cisco and I did a lot of work with Cisco's IOS back in college. Maybe I could get my certifications and get a job that way. So I thought of writing their IT department and seeing what certs would make sense there.
Questions
--------------
When writing a letter intended for the IT department, who would I address the letter to, administration? Should I write, "Please forward to IT department" or what? And should I even write them a letter in the first place? Would that hurt my chances? It just seems like that would give me an idea what they are looking for.
1 AnswerComputer Networking8 years agoCan you do similar work as a licensed private investigator without a license under a different title?
I live in GA. I'm essentially an independent researcher. I just sort of incidentally fell into this career via word of mouth. I've never called myself a private investigator, but I do similar work. This parallel includes finding information for the general public. I don't follow people or conduct physical surveillance. But I am apt at finding information for people.
What kind of information? Almost anything. As long as it is legal, I can find it. The whole thing started primarily with computers. For example, someone gets an error message and I figured out what it meant and fixed the problem. That's how it started. But it quickly grew faster than I could predict. I started getting stranger requests. It spread. Even though it still somewhat relates to computers, such as digital surveillance or data recovery or penetration testing, but I'm afraid of getting into trouble. Can I set my business up like this and do this kind of work without being a private investigator, as long as I don't use that label? I usually explain this to my clients ahead of time. I just want to cover myself legally without infringing on any protected frameworks.
1 AnswerLaw Enforcement & Police8 years agoWhat should I know about living off grid in a tiny home?
I want to know what legal obligations there are for living off grid in GA. Is there a minimum house size requirement? I want one of these small homes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qghZ2ao7GKM
It may be slightly larger than the house in the video. I just don't want the federal government stepping in from left field and saying, "Oh sorry. You're violating XYZ ordinance. The penalty is death."
Worse case scenario. I know. But I don't want any surprises. I just want something off grid where I can always go if things go south. I know I need water or a well. I'd prefer to harvest my electricity using solar energy, wind, personal nuclear reactor, etc, etc. Whatever. Just off grid. The land doesn't need electric or water connections. I'm just worried about square foot minimum requirements. I don't want the government all up in my cool-aid. Any suggestions?
7 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)8 years agoWhere to find documentation on murder cases?
I'm writing a compilation of murders, but I need more material. What courts should I visit to pull murder cases that have already been closed? I don't know if I should go to county or state court or what. And how exactly do I request the right records? I'm looking for a very specific range of cases -- namely concerning young women. It's for a school paper tailored to women readers interested in true crime. So the project should be about people they can relate to. But how do I find those kind of records? How much does it cost?
1 AnswerLaw Enforcement & Police8 years agoHow do you write true crime?
For example, what if the case has not gone to trial? Do you have to wait? I don't think they publish all the details until after the investigation is complete -- aside from unsolved cases. But I'm wanting to write about a specific case that happened in my town. They've arrested a young man for the murder. But they only say so much. I don't want to wait around years for a trial. How do you find out more details that might not be published in the papers?
1 AnswerMedia & Journalism8 years agoWhy the longest you've gone without sleep?
I'm just curious how long other people have been able to stay awake in one sitting. In other words, what's your limit before crashing? One day, two days, three days, four?
6 AnswersMental Health8 years agoWhat type of marijuana existed in ancient Bible times?
There are typically two classifications of marijuana -- sativa and indica. In the US, in our modern era indica appears to be the most common. But in other parts of the world, one class or the other tends to be favored more by that particular environment. There are also many, many, many different types of sativa and indica and hybrids. But I'm talking about ancient times like during Bible days in the middle east. What type do you think was most common in the era and areas where the Bible was written? In other words, if Jesus was a stoner what kind of class would he had direct access to? Sativa or indica?
2 AnswersBotany8 years agoWhat the cheapest way to get a house?
Right now I'm making my way through college in coastal GA. I'm curious because I'm currently living in a guesthouse. I want to buy a house and am curious what's the best route to take in my situation. I want something small and off to itself. My only real expense is my student loans -- which can always be lowered if necessary. So I want something that's mine. I don't care if it's a trailer or pre fab tiny home. I'm single. I don't plan on having kids. Just a little shack some place would suit me just fine. It's not exactly something I'm gonna do now. Maybe within the next year or two.
2 AnswersRenting & Real Estate8 years agoWhat is a good "free" boot CD for troubleshooting computers in the field?
I am a college student. I do a lot of computer work to generate extra income. I often run into issues where it would be nice to have some kind of utility suite boot CD to use when I'm repairing PCs and running diagnostics. I looked some up. Some of the ones I saw were really expensive. They have "commercial" licensees that are very expensive. I don't make a lot of money as it is. Are there any open source or free options available that you can use commercially? A suite of bootable utilities would make my job a lot easier. Any ideas?

5 AnswersCleaning & Laundry8 years agoHow do Muslims attend worship in a community with no mosque?
I live in Brunswick GA, and I've heard a lot of stuff about Muslims; Muslims believe X, muslims believe Y, muslims x, etc, etc. I've been told not to read to Quran in English. I've been told a lot of things. But I'd really like to talk to some actual muslims instead of just listening to what I hear. Unfortunately, I can't find a mosque in or near my town. I know we have some businesses in town that are Muslim owned. But I can't find an actual place of worship or a community-like get together where I can meet and talk to real muslims in person.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhat does it mean to "know" HTML?
It seems pretty straightforward. There's just a bunch of tags to memorize. Now of course, there's HTML5, which should be much more involved. But I'm mainly referring to HTML in general. What does it mean to know the HTML language? It's much easier than learning a programming language like C or Java. But I don't know how to really gauge my grasp of it when it's essentially just a bunch of tags. How much do you need to have memorized before moving onto things like PHP, AJAX, JQuery, web frameworks like Django, javascript, databases, etc?
4 AnswersProgramming & Design8 years agoWhere to get large data sets for playing around with?
I'm learning about computer programming. Right now I'm working with Python. I seem to learn better when I have data to work with. Google did a Python class where the instructor used a data set of names and a whole bunch of associated information. Using Python we were able to learn some fascinating stuff. I was trying to think up some other ideas for some data to work against. Does anybody have any suggestions? I'd prefer the data to be relatively easy to access. I don't want to mess with sockets or parsing XML files or anything like that. A text file or something comma delimited would be fine.
1 AnswerProgramming & Design8 years agoHow exactly does Django work when it comes to the visual design of a website?
I am a huge Python programming fan, but I want to branch out and learn new stuff. I'd like to work with Python's web framework Django, but I've read into it a lot so far and I'm still not sure how designing the logic through Python incorporates into the actual visual appearance of the final project. Maybe I just don't understand enough about it yet. I'm pretty sure it must work with HTML and CSS. But I'm not exactly sure how that works or where it comes in. So far in my studies, the books are just talking about how Django is designed. What it is. What it does. Who it was created by, etc, etc. But I still haven't seen anything about the actual appearance or design of websites themselves. How does HTML and CSS work with Django?
1 AnswerProgramming & Design8 years agoWhat does it mean when it seems like a woman is never in a relationship?
I've liked this girl for a long time. We've been friends a few years, and I've always like her. At least one time she hinted she wanted sex, but I expressed too much interest in her romantically and she in turn lost interest in me. I think she just wanted a friends with benefits deal and I blew it by sending relationship vibes. For while I thought some guy would come along or she'd get married or something. But it's been 3 years I've known her and she's never had a regular boyfriend -- at least none I've noticed. What does that mean?
4 AnswersSingles & Dating8 years agoIs there a social networking website for my neighborhood watch initiative?
We have a lot of scammers come through our neighborhood. Some are door to door scams and others are letters. I wanted to set up a social network for my neighborhood where we can all talk and share information concerning things happening here. Only those people that living here will be given credentials to log into it. I thought about Facebook, but people want something more secure. Do you have any ideas?
3 AnswersComputer Networking8 years agoCan I call the police department to see if someone was arrested in particular area?
Yesterday two young men, perhaps teenagers or early 20s cam by soliciting. They appeared to have a permit. It was bizarre though because I'm still not clear about why they were there. They may have been selling magazines, but I believe they only asked me for a donation. When I told them I had no money, they asked to use my phone. I told them I didn't allow teenagers in my house. Anyway, they eventually left. But my neighbors were not as easy on them. Somehow it escalated and the police were called. I thought they got away, however, someone at the local store said they were arrested. I was curious what they were arrested for. They might have been casing the neighborhood. Maybe they had warrants. Who knows. Can I call my local police department and ask?
3 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police8 years agoWhy do atheists accept this godless theory?
Be honest. You only accept it because you want to continue on sinning! The theory of gravity is a lie perpetuated by Satan. Newton even recanted on his death bed! I'm sick of my kids being fed this evil pseudoscience by these crazy Newtonists and their godless theory of gravitation. Why don't they teach the controversy?! Why don't they teach any competing theories?! There are huge holes in gravity. Let the kids decide for themselves! Gravity doesn't explain how life got here, nor can it account for morality. I'm fed up to here with this nonsense!
