I'm a man who just had a bad first date. Should I contact (text, email) her at all about our date?
I don't want to see her again. It's pretty clear to me that she doesn't want to see me again either, not even for friendship. What's the etiquette in this situation?
2 AnswersSingles & Dating2 years agoWho are your sexy middle aged people? Mine are JK Rowling, Nigella Lawson and Colin Firth.?
I'm approaching forty and I'm not as handsome as I used to be. Still I'm inspired by those classy men and women who with a combination of good maintenance and sophistication are sexy as hell.
5 AnswersPolls & Surveys6 years agoMy boiler fires up and heats my home up when I don't want it to - advice please?
My Ideal Isar gas boiler obeys my Drayton thermostat settings to fire up to raise the room temperature. The problem is that it fires up at other times too and this is wasting gas and heating my home up to temperatures above the ones I set. My room thermostat is set to 20 deg C right now but the boiler is making the room temperature 24 deg C and appears to want to maintain the temp at that despite the timer setting. I would love to fix this without resorting to switching the boiler off completely when I don't need it.
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs8 years agoWhy are foreigners so oikey at the bus stop?
An oik from continental Europe jumped the queue and then went and sat on a seat meant for disabled people. I see this behaviour regularly from European tourists and I find it disgusting.
6 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups9 years agoDoes England have the best defence in world football?
If not, then who does?
I'm thinking of John Terry, Ashley Cole, Gary Cahill and Jolean Lescott in particular. In addition we have players such as Micah Richards, Leighton Baines, Glenn Johnson and Phil Jagielka.
Maybe we have a better chance of winning the European cup than many people think...yes?

2 AnswersOther - Computers9 years agoWas a message that is in your sent items in Yahoo Mail definitely sent?
I was in the process of sending a message and then my internet connection broke down for a few seconds. I went to the sent items folder and that message wouldn't load initially because the connection was lost. Eventually it did load up and is showing as sent in the sent messages folder.
Does this mean that it really was sent or is it possible that it failed to send even though it's showing in the sent messages folder.
4 AnswersOther - Yahoo Mail10 years agoHome electrical circuit trip-out and my PC, seeking an explanation please?
The scenario: My PC was plugged in directly at the wall socket but not switched on. Suddenly the electricity tripped out so power was cut to everything in my home. I checked all the fuses and they were fine. I went around my home switching things on and off to see what caused the trip out. I discovered that switching my PC on caused a trip out. I then decided to plug my PC into the wall via a multi socket extension (gang of four) instead of directly into the wall socket to see if it made a difference. It did work. So far I have had no further trip-outs. My PC has previously been plugged directly into the wall socket for years without causing trip-outs. My question is what could cause it to trip out today and also why would plugging it in through a socket extension rather than directly into the wall socket apparently (touch wood) make it okay again?

To me it seems like they care about what the English speaking world thinks about them...but why?
8 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoDo you think Ed Milliband should congratulate the government for dealing with Labour's mess?
Britain's cost of borrowing is falling thanks to our higher credit rating. This will make it cheaper to cut the deficit.

"Moreover, the coalition parties have shown a high degree of cohesion in putting the UK's public finances onto what we view to be a more sustainable footing.
"We have accordingly revised the outlook on the United Kingdom to stable from negative. We have also affirmed the 'AAA/A-1+' sovereign credit ratings on the United Kingdom."
4 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoMy PC's clock won't keep the correct time. Do you have any idea how I could fix it?
It changes randomly every time I switch on. The PC is only three years old so I'd be surprised if the internal battery is the problem. I run Windows Vista and Symantec anti-virus software on it. Could a faulty software update cause this to happen? I have to manually change the clock each time I boot up the PC.
5 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoWhy do you think most people prefer to have a male boss at work?
This has come up many times before from various surveys so it's not just a Daily Mail rant.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1302096/...
Two-thirds of women said they preferred a male boss because their straight-talking, ‘get to the point’ attitude makes them easier to deal with.
They are also much less likely to have a hidden agenda, suffer mood swings or get involved in office politics, workers said.
16 AnswersGender Studies1 decade agoDo you think that the Ground Zero mosque is an appropriate memorial for the 9/11 attacks?
I've read a few op/ed articles from optimistic commentators claiming that the new mosque will promote peace and inter-faith understanding. Do you think this will be the result?
<As critics of the Islamic center rightly noted, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, one of the project's principals, parroted the Saudi line immediately following the 9/11 attacks, telling "60 Minutes," "I wouldn't say that the United States deserved what happened, but the United States' policies were an accessory to the crime that happened.">

7 AnswersFIFA World Cup (TM)1 decade agoWhy is the 40% American owned BP Oil company suddenly being referred to as "British" Petroleum in the US?
BP stopped calling itself British Petroleum in 1997 to reflect the fact that it is a transatlantic company. Americans are clearly angry about the Gulf Oil disaster but they seem to be unaware that the accident happened under the watch of BP America and everybody at fault was American.
Is knee jerk xenophobia commonplace in America and if so should America and the UK now review their trade and diplomatic relationships? The UK is currently the biggest foreign investor in the US economy. Should British companies regard American xenophobia as a financial risk of doing business in America?

"Whenever you hear someone with a British accent talking about this on behalf of British Petroleum they are not telling you the truth. That's the bottom-line"

The whole might of American wealth and technology is displayed as utterly unable to deal with the disastrous spill - so what more natural than a crude, bigoted, xenophobic display of partisan political Presidential petulance against a multinational company?,' he said

When I arrived at my desk on the very first day as chief secretary, I found a letter from the previous chief secretary to give me some advice, I assumed, on how I conduct myself over the months ahead," Laws recalled.
"Unfortunately, when I opened it, it was a one-sentence letter which simply said 'Dear Chief Secretary, I'm afraid to tell you there's no money left'
4 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoDo you think that highly attentive care giving fathers hurt a mother's self esteem?
One study claims that if a man is a better caregiver than the child's mother it hurts her self esteem. (This might be analogous to the way some men feel about their wives being better breadwinners than they are).
http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20100318/sc_li...
"When mothers perceived fathers to be competent caregivers, the more time those dads spent solo with children, the lower was mom's self-competence rating".
What do you think of this? Are men damned if they do and damned if they don't here? Did feminism create this self esteem issue? What's the solution?
