Trouble connecting HP Office Jet Pro 8600 printer/scanner/copy to Chrome Operating computer.?
Printer and scanner use to work with a Windows operating system on a wireless system. When the computer crashed I was give a Chrome operating system computer.
Apparently downloading the driver does nothing on a Chrome. But this is new to me. Tried to connect computer and printer with a cable. Computer says new device detected, but I can't get beyond this.
(btw, 73, slightly visually impaired and no grandchildren for tech help.)

1 AnswerPrinters4 years agoWhy does red fade on a bumper sticker?
Why does red seem to go first on an outside banner or bumper sticker? Is it something to do with the wave length of the color or does the ink or paint have something in it that oxidizes faster than other colors?

1 AnswerLanguages6 years agoHow to collect self-adhesive US stamps?
I haven't paid attention to stamp collecting in years. Prior to self-adhesive stamps I could soak used stamps off envelopes and use hinges to attach to an album page.I would mount mint stamps using special mounts to preserve the mint never hinged condition of the stamp.
Now all US (and I presume stamps from other countries) peel off a sheet. How does a collector deal with these?
Thanks
1 AnswerHobbies & Crafts9 years agoHungarian tongue twister?
This was in the Foreign Service Institute Hungarian course. It was there to practice the "r". I assume it's a real sentence and tongue twister rather than a list of words, but there was no translation:
Répa. retek, mogyoró; korán reggel ritkán rikkant a rigó.
Because of its source, I assume it's "clean". Any help?

My source says this is a formal way to greet a lady. Is it still used today or is it archaic?

2 AnswersPreferences and Settings1 decade agoBeginning of sign language?
A sign language question brought this thought back to me. I learned that it started in France in the 16th Century. Would this have come from nowhere? I wondered if perhaps French explorers in the "New World" noticed that the native inhabitants with many different languages communicated with each other by a universal system of hand signals. The French then realized one did not need vocalization to communicate.
I've never seen anything about this. This is just my speculation.
3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoSwedish for "Little People"?
BP created a PR blunder using the phrase "Little People". I realize the Chairman of BP is Swedish and that in itself seems interesting for British Petroleum. I can remember personally being in a German speaking environment for a while and then speaking English in store in the US and asking the cashier for some "little money" (German Kleingeld = change).
Now I understand that most if not all educated Swedes learn English from an early age. I am sure the chairman honestly meant the "average person" or "ordinary working person" and was not trying to be offensive.
BP's technical work might be criminal, but just seems that it can't do anything right

Isn't it strange that there is not one question regarding the supposed true meaning of Christmas? Perhaps it is truly a secular holiday.
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs there a way to flag someone else's question for an answer?
When looking around on Yahoo answers, I often find a question, but don't know the answer. I would like to learn the answer, but don't want to go back and hunt the question down.
When I ask a question, I get an email response. Is it possible for me as a third party flag the question and to receive an answer to this question?

2 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoCharacter Codes using U+?
When typing foreign letter such as German ß, I like to use the key stroke character codes, in this case alt + 0223.
Many symbols in character map do not have key strokes, but are given a U+ followed by a base 16 four digit code.
Are these usable through a keyboard entry and if so, how?
Thanks
