  • Anyone have an opnion on this guy Pope Michael?

So yesterday I run into a man named Bawden during the course of my work day who turns out to be a somewhat widely known pope of the vatican in exile. Anyone else ever heard of this guy, I live only a few hours from him and never had before that day.

  • Wiccan.witch type folk question about eggs.?

Another question got me to thinking about this. I had an employee six years ago or so who was a witch of sorts. I do not know if she had anything to do with the traditional Wicca or not but if anyone can give me an idea of what she was/did or the reasons from the following description I would appreciate it.

She was from northern Mexico around Zacatecas. Most of what she did seemed to utilize chicken eggs in one fashion or another and a little chanting in a language I did not understand(not traditional Spanish anyway). What ever it was people (mostly women) from many countries Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Columbia, Etc. seemed to respect/believe in what she did. They would come by the restaurant looking for her for help (this was all in Las Vegas so serious cultural diversity). Nicest woman you ever met but she was unwilling to ever tell me what it was she did (I never pushed none of my business in my opinion). She also had five younger sisters none of which practiced the same thing. I never recall seeing her wear a cross but many of the women who sought her help did. Thanks for any ideas or answers.

  • recommend Books by Creationist Geologists.?

In an earlier post someone mentioned a considerable number of creationist scientists. This included a few geologists. If anyone could point me towards a few books by creationist geologists I would appreciate it. I am an atheist so pointing me towards a straight out conversion book will do more harm than good but I would like to learn more about their perspective.

    Thanks.

  • Dark Matter?

Can anyone point me towards a book on the subject of dark matter and dark energy. I have read a fair number of stephen hawkings older books so I have a basic understanding of physics but a dark matter for dummies book may be about all I could handle.

Thanks for any ideas or suggestions on where to start.

  • Are Atheists embarassed that they have nothing to back up their beliefs on?

So I see this statement and I wonder do they even understand what an Atheist is? A few days ago one expected the majority of atheists would vote to put all christians to death. Makes me a little mad. But then I see people here like Monte and others so I remember that their are plenty of inteligent thoughtful ones as well.

  • How could any sane person look at the complex beauty of the world and NOT believe?

I just read this statement from a theist poster. Thought I would give it its own little question spot.

My answer would be I have never seen any other simpler worlds

  • Catholic view on children born out of wedlock.?

If a Catholic woman gives birth to one or more children without being married what standing do the children themselves have?

Is the mother required at some point in time to repent the sexual act itself in confession? Or some other aspect of the birth?

Does it make any difference in the standing if the woman eventualy marries the man ( in a civil ceremony) and they continue to have children?

    Thank you.

  • The politics of forgiveness.?

Several answers to an early question about being an abused spouse and dismissal from their church for divorce brought this question to mind.

Have you as a Christian been in a situation when your church put the survival of the church (spiritual or physical) above what was right or decent even under your own teachings?

This is in no way meant as a condemnation of all Christians but I have only twice spoken with a church going person who has agreed with me about the politics all too often eclipsing the message. I’ll ad 2 personal examples below. I am more or less looking for perspective her. Thank You.
