Notification of half day closure for a school?
Does a school have to give notice to the parents days in advance, if it decides to close the school for half a day to have an Ofsted inspection?.
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics9 years agoWhy does Jacqui Smith hate whistleblowers?
I can't believe this news article, surely it must be April 1st already.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1228739/Th...
Why when this sham marriage is brought to the attention of higher Home Office figures, including Ms Smith, nothing is done about it.
What do you think will happen, when they have a sham divorce, do you think the Home Office will send her packing or will they just say "ohhhhhh you tricked us, well done, here's a visa for your real husband and 4 kids"?
Your thoughts on this new article please -

After two interviews this week on Sky News and Channel 4 news and Nick Griffin's appearance on BBC Question Time, will you now be moved to vote for the BNP, or continue to vote for the BNP, because of their policies?
Or have these recent interviews changed the way you see the BNP and their policies?

18 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoSentences for paedophiles (UK)? for lawyers?
I asked this this morning and never got a proper answer, It seems we all hate them, but no one knows why they get light sentences or even let off.
After watching ITV's "How to catch a paedophile" I was amazed that since 2005 Scotland Yard have prosecuted an amazing 350+ men convicted of various crimes against minors. apart from a few who received life sentences, the vast majority got between 6 month and 18 months. Some even managed to escape imprisonment, later to re-offend.
I ask -
Why are our Courts and our Government so lenient on what I and many consider the worst crime a human can commit?
And how can any Lawyer (especially female ones) defend these monsters?

13 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoA Question on Devolution in the UK?
I'm trying to understand how devolution works, having studied a few articles on the web, I can't understand how the Scottish Parliament works in connection with the UK Parliament.
The SP is made up of 129 members from various parties, Now seeing as Alistair Darling and Gordon Brown are from the Scottish Labour Party, they should hold seats in the SP. But do they? Have I understood this correctly? and if so who sits in their place whilst they are busy running the UK Parliament?
Also do all Welsh and Scottish MP's elected but do not hold a cabinet position, sit in both parliaments on a regular bases or do they just stick to their home parliament?
Please shed some light on how these parliaments work with MP's working in london most of the time?
2 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoCan Women be Paedophiles?
This was highlighted in episode of Southpark a few years ago, involving a female teacher and a kindergarten boy. Ok an extreme situation, but not fictional
Over very many years, there have been a few cases of women having relations with under 16 years old boys and girls, yet these cases are not treated in the same light as the male paedophiles are.
why is this?
And what could drive a women to do this to young children?
This link gives an account of a male who was molested by his own Mother.......

21 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoThe Inconvenient Truth or Untruth?
Ok I need to know if I'm the only person that think "what a load of rubbish"..
I bought the film last year, after hearing it won an Oscar, I watched it with my Partner, It started well, talking about the effect of CO2 and the theory of the damage man is doing, I say Theory cause there are other theories I have watched that say the CO2 we emit will not effect global warming cause it's caused by Sun activity..anyway
We watched half hour of the Inconvenient Truth and turned it off, after seeing Al Gore standing at a podium banging on about the effects of CO2 on global warming, we then get a flash over to him SAT in the back of a limo talking about himself and his family, then we go back to main subject at another Al Gore conference, then we get another flash over and we see Al Gore sat in the a nice leather seat aboard what looks like a personal Jet-plane, and the film continued like this until I turned it off in disgust, He wants people to reduce their CO2 and there he is sat in a gas guzzling cars and planes.
Oh and did I mention his family made Millions from Tobacco farming, a major contribution of unnecessary CO2.
So am I and my Partner the only two people who think this film, which is repeatly shown on British telly and in our childrens schools as part of the curriculum, IS the biggest load of hypocritical bull ever to spout from Al Gore's mouth.
In my opinion this film is nothing more than the Al Gore show and a lucrative way to line his pockets, yet most powers that be have swollowed it hook line and sinker
Whats your opinion on this film and Al Gores role?

If Digital is the future why does my signal play up so much at the slightest breeze or whatever it is that causes the picture to break up and the sound to fade in and out, plus I have a Digital radio and I get a worse signal than on FM...
Why Why Why are we being told it would be a clear signal with no distortion????
1 AnswerTVs1 decade agoAdvertising hordings Mystery?
I have noticed an advert addressed to PM Gordon Brown on the Large road side hoardings, saying something along the lines off - "I know how to get the people working again, If you want to know give me a call on 0207 ??? ????, You might be interested from Polly Tommey.....
I cant find anything via the internet as to the meaning or idea behind this large white ad. The ad carries no identification or logos and is really just black hand writing on white background.
Can anyone shed some light to this ad??
1 AnswerOther - Advertising & Marketing1 decade agoThis is a Statement, not a Question?
To all British People no matter what your creed is........
If you are guilty of abusing our soldiers when they are home on leave, cause you disagree with the wars they are fighting, you should be ashamed of yourself.........
These people choose a career to take up arms on behalf of our Goverment, the United Kingdom and in the name of the Queen, they follows orders laid down by our Goverment and have no choice but to follow these orders.
If you have a problem with anything out troops do when in conflict then I suggest you take it up with you local and central Goverment who calls the shots and sit back in Parliment watching it all go on and not with our soldiers who are proud to serve the United Kingdom and wish to show it...........

If this is true then all law obeying citzerns give up now. Its seems if a career criminal or anyone attacks you, you better not fight back, incase you kill them accidentally
What had become of this world,
NOTE : Take up a new career in the criminal world, got better protection than the real world.............
34 AnswersOther - News & Events1 decade ago6 Months on and this is all they got!!!!?
Its now 6 months on and police have just reveled they know the type of gun used and even what type of bike the killer was riding
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/7254...
Yet they still no closer to charging anyone...
Why is this, just lack of evidence on the culprit or is the silent treatment by the community hiding the true killer????
I hope it isn't the latter!!!
9 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoWhat is Virtual Memory?
OK ive seen many answers from previous questions and it doesn't explain why every time I close a Game down it says "virtual memory low, system is working in the background to increase momery size" or words to that effect, I can't be low on memory in the hard drive as I have only used 40% of my hard drive.
Is this just a clich on my system (one of many) which really isn't effecting the running of it?
or have I got to do something computey?
