  • Pickling Lime. How much to use?

I want to make some pickles. I've done it before but never used pickling lime. So here's the extremely simple recipe I use:

Drop my spices in the bottom of the jar

Fill the jar with cucumber slices

Fill jar with 1/3 water and 2/3 vinegar

So that's it. Now, the question. For what I'm doing, how much pickling lime do I add to each jar?.

  • What is the optimal speed for good gas mileage?

When I first got my license I was told that faster speeds were better on gas. Then, later, I was told that the speed limit is best, which doesn't make since because there are so many different speed limits. They can't all be the right speed for the car. Now I've been told that around fifty is best for gas. So what is the truth? Is there a "perfect" speed? Is there a certain speed which will give the best gas mileage?

  • When does FX show UFC fights?

Back when UFC was on Spike I always knew when to catch the fights. Spike had a regular schedule. On certain nights every week they showed a few hours of fights. Now that Fox has the rights to UFC I can't seem to catch any fights at all. When does FX play the fights? Or do they only show live fights now?

  • Where were all the viruses?

I understand that the Americas and Europe were separated for tens of thousands of years. When the Europeans came to the Americas they brought with them a host of viruses that the Native Americans could not cope with. It had a devastating effect. But why weren’t the Americas host to a slew of viruses that the Europeans couldn’t handle?

If the many years of separation had allowed unique viruses to evolve in Europe, why didn’t the same thing happen in America? Why weren’t the European explorers hit with a bunch of viruses for which they had no immunity?

  • Jason Collins out! Good or bad?

So, your answer will obviously depend on where you stand on homosexuality. Jason Collins coming out of the closet could help gay people all over the country. Or his coming out could be seen as another strike against family values. Where do you stand? Is his coming out a good thing or a bad thing?

For those who don't know, Jason Collins is a pro Basketball player who just announced that he is gay.

  • Michael Jackson conspiracy theory?

Ok, so the King Of Pop is dead. Has anyone thought about a possible connection between Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley? Michael idolized Elvis. He named himself the King of Pop. That was not a title given to him. When he went on an interview with Oprah it was written into the contract that she would have to call him by that title several times during the interview. Yeah, she was the first person to call him that but it wasn’t her idea. He wanted a title to rival that of Elvis. He even married Elvis’ daughter. And now he has died at about the same age as Elvis. Yes, I know he had a heart attack. But could it have been drug induced? Many prescription drugs have severe side effects, including heart attacks. Something as simple as a migraine drug can cause a heart attack. And if he was intentionally overdosing on a regular basis, death was inevitable. If this is the case, the autopsy would not catch regular overdosing. It would only show that at the time of death there was an overdose and that would appear to be accidental. Actually, a heart attack is fairly easy to induce if you know how. Jackson could have caused his own heart attack in order to assure that he would be remembered in the same light as Elvis.

Now, this is just a bit of trolling. I don’t really believe this. But I’m wondering if anyone will pick up on this and run with it. What do you think? Did Michael Jackson cause his own death in an effort to emulate Elvis?

  • Miley Cyrus new song?

Hey folks. First, let me say that I'm not a big country music fan and I'm even less of a Miley Cyrus fan. I find her to be horrifyingly annoying. However, I recently heard her new song, The Climb, and I think this style really suits her. It's the first time I didn't cringe when I heard her voice. So I'm wondering what other people think about this song. Especially her fans. Do you like a country song from Miley or do you prefer the bubble gum pop music she usually does?

  • Pokemon Platinum question?

Does anyone know the ID code for Pokemon Platinum? I've seen this question asked before and I've tried the codes suggested but they don't work. One problem is that all the codes I've seen require a space in the middle of the code and Action Replay doesn't allow spaces. I've also seen codes with lower case letters and, again, Action Replay won't allow that. Can anyone help?

  • Pokemon Diamond & Pearl?

I have in my game something called a Red Scarf that helps with the Cool Contest. I was wondering if there are any other items for the Smart, Cute, etc... that are similar and where to find them. Also, at this point I am not all that interested in the challenge of the game anymore and would be happy to use cheat codes for Action Replay if there are any that will allow me to win contests automatically. Please help if you can.

  • Critique my poem?

Ok, this is dedicated to everyone who has ever posted a poem here and asked for a critique.

    Critique This!

It's hard to critique my own work.

I genuinely like the poems I write.

So I'll ask you to read a small sample.

Tell me. Do you think that you might?

And now that you've read what I've written,

I wonder, what do you think?

Should I go on writing poems?

Or am I simply wasting my ink?

  • Bible question....love?

In 1st Corinthians there is a deffinition of love. It goes on to describe various different kinds of love. I want to break down each aspect of God's love but I'll start with the top. The first aspect of love is, "Love suffers long." Can anyone give me an example from the Bible of how God demonstrates that kind of love?

  • Any moms out there with potty training experience?

My wife and I have a son who turns four in February. He is still having trouble with potty training. When he comes home from day care dry we make a big fuss and tell him how proud we are. If he comes home wet we let him know we are unhappy. When we have him at home we try to take him to the bathroom often and when he goes we do the same big fuss thing. The trouble is that we have to force him sometimes to go. He doesn't seem to want to go to the bathroom most times. And if he gets excited he forgets all about the bathroom and just goes! Are we missing something? It seems to me that we are doing the right kinds of things here but it's not working. If he's not completely potty trained when he turns four the day care won't advance him to the four year room. We don't want him held back but we don't know what else to do? Is it possible that he just isn't ready? Shouldn't he be potty trained by now? Help! What else can we do to help him?
