I'm a Catholic, befriending a middle eastern Muslim?
I happened to become really good friends with an Iranian Shi'a Muslim in the U.S. We've been keeping in close contact with each other either in person or through instant messaging, e-mails and the like.
However, now he's trusting enough to tell me some of his political views since I've agreed with a lot of other topics we've spoken about. He's very aggressive about the U.S's stance towards Iran and hopes to return back to his native country should war ensue. I've tried convincing him that such a thing would never happen, not in the economic state we're in now, as well as how rash that decision might be. But he's determined.
He also believes 9-11 was an act done by the U.S alone and that our soldiers are doing horrible things in Afghanistan as well as other insulting insinuations about the military. He also disagrees how women are treated and should be punished severely for serving in the military alongside men-- the details go on, especially on the topic of religion. I believe the reader gets the jist of the problem.
My question finally is: should I continue being friends with the man? What I've typed up was some of the bad parts about him, yet he is genuinely a fun and good guy in other areas which is why I hang out with him. I try to advise him to change his cultural/political attitudes, but am I wasting my time? Will his beliefs become an issue if the time comes?

5 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoWhere does a gift card go on a gift?
Aside from this being a very, very simple question. Just think of it as free points.
I'm wanting to give a Christmas card along with a present I'll be giving to a friend at school. I'm wanting to have the contents of the present all in the right fashion, which is why I'm asking: Where does the gift card giving a 'to, from, and message' go on a gift? On the outside, or inside? Does the addressing of the 'to and from' go on the outside, and a card with a message go on the inside?
Something as simple as this can get me very confused. Thank you for taking the time to answer.

There should be a name for it. Question is as plain stated as it can be.
3 AnswersCredit1 decade agoWhat do you think of people who simply ignore politics because they don't want anything to do with it?
There are some people like this. They simply think that its useless to choose a side or vote, because they have no hope to change someone's mind on a certain issue. Or, they think that every politician is corrupt and therefore can't have faith in them or their ideology.
Please explain why you think what you think of these types of people. Thank you for responding.
6 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoDo I Need to see a dermatologist to have my toenail removed?
Despite excruciating pain when practicing this, can I simply, from home, remove one of my toenails(as I suffer from toenail fungus)? Are there certain procedures to follow to properly remove a toenail? Or just put a towel in my mouth and start pulling?
2 AnswersSkin Conditions1 decade agoAs a student, what would be the best gift to give to a legally blind teacher?
I'm a student and I see Christmas just looming over the hill, and I'm wanting to formulate some ideas that would be great for a teacher that I have who I would like to show my appreciation to by giving him a gift. Yet, he's legally blind and although he can read dark lettering, see figures and faintly see faces, I'm afraid he won't appreciate something aesthetically pleasing (i.e a snowglobe) compared to someone who is able to fully see.
That in mind, any ideas? Gift cost ranging from 5-30 dollars. He is also a mathematics teacher.
7 AnswersFamily1 decade agoWhat if I don't wash my body with soap?
I'm getting to be very, very cautious about my dry skin. Apparently I have a strain of Eczema called Atopic Dermatitis. I am wanting to go to extents of just washing my body thoroughly with plain water, and not using Dove body wash soap (although Dove is good at keeping moisture on the skin). To stem off any breakouts of AD.
I've noticed that even with not touching my body with soap, my skin still appears to slightly maintain smoothness and moisture.
So, again, I shower three times a day, but I'm beginning to not use soap on my body. Is this an unwise choice? Thank you for answering.

I have a P.E teacher whose voice has this year become more hoarse than what it used to be 2 years ago. As if it's getting worse as this school year goes by. Could anyone lend a suggestion as to why this is occurring? I would understand if it was a week or two weeks of a strep throat/coming over a sickness, but it's been way too long for that. What would develop that could cause the throat to block/roughen the voice?
1 AnswerOther - Health1 decade agoWould it be legal for a cat to be stuffed by it's owners after the pet dies naturally?
For the sake of immortalizing the cat? So you could see it's stuffed self sitting on the book shelf, and you would be reminded of it's great personality while it lived under your caring ownership?
Granted, the stuffing would be done by a person whose expertise is in stuffing live animals; so as to evidence that it was indeed dead by natural causes, etc.
7 AnswersCats1 decade agoCan a pet/dog conceive the death of an owner? Like they understand an owner being in danger?
When a pet, more so a dog (as they are common) has a close owner that dies; either unexpectedly or expectedly in the presence of the dog, does the dog understand that it's owner is dying/dead? I have heard stories of criminals murdering a person who is an owner of a dog, and after the crime has long been committed, the police find the dog staying at the side of it's master. Does the dog staying beside it's master understand the owner has just died or simply thinks the owner is taking a very long nap?
A bit of a depressing topic...
2 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoBase pay and housing pay for the military/Army?
If a person who is active duty in the military does not use military housing but rents/owns their own, they recieve an extra payment PLUS base pay in their salary. What's the actual name for this extra pay called (for those that are in the military)? Just housing pay?
Also, hypothetically speaking, if I were to rent a room from a person's house instead of renting from an apartment, or owning a house, would the housing payment then be allowed for me? Or will they see I'm trying to trick the system and just give me base pay? Hehe.
6 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoDo we or will we have the capability of finding the X and Y chromosomes in sperm?
Why I ask this, is because if we can now, I would like to know. If it's possible in the near future, that is great, because then man or woman will no longer need to play chance when trying for a son or daughter. The future daughter or son can be chosen through the selection of a donor's or the future father's sperm.
As a parent, you shouldn't pick favorites of the sexes, but men and women can relate when they have that feeling inside of them for a boy or girl. It's only natural.
So I ask again. Do we have this ability now? Or is it possible in the future?

2 AnswersTrying to Conceive1 decade agoWhat is the 3rd crew member's job aboard a CH-47 Chinook?
There is a crew of three inside a CH-47: two are piloting, and the third is doing something else. Isn't he usually the one that steps out to greet soldiers boarding into the aircraft? What is his main purpose if he isn't piloting? Does that make him an officer if he isn't the one piloting?
9 AnswersAircraft1 decade agoThe Air Force or Army?
I'm coming up to a critical decision in life and I've already decided I want to make the military as a career for myself. I am aiming to become a helicopter pilot. I'm having trouble deciding whether to go Air Force, like my mother (who works in the Army National Guard) is telling me to go, or the Army.
Why I am veering away from the Air Force, is due to the competition of spots being available for recruit pilots. I'm thinking that if I go Army, there would be more of a chance of pilot slots available because who would think to become a helicopter pilot when they join the Army?
I also am taking into consideration the well being of the recruits and members of either branch. I've read personal stories of how the Air Force cares about the quality of their food, sleeping quarters for their soldiers, condition of the soldiers in their bases, etc. While the Army just looks at number of trays to fill food with, number of beds that will be slept in, how much space a base needs for x amount of troops. As well as the attitude differences in both of these branches...
So, I just want to ask, which is a better choice for a career as a pilot? The Air Force or the Army?
