Searching for the truth through the veil. I am a Righteous Gentile. Which means that I follow the Noahide Covenant (the promise that God made to Noah after the flooding of the world which included seven laws for Gentiles to follow). If you plan to email me please take note I am happy to answer any questions or have an open interfaith dialogue. You will not like my answers though if you: 1. Write to rag on Catholics and about how demonic they are. 2. Write solely to try and change my religion back to Christianity (I spent many years of my life in Christianity - I am well aware of what it is and who Jesus is). I answer all emails - but be careful what you wish for. As I stated above - you may not like what I have to say to your rant.

  • What are the most unusal things your cat steals?

    Mine has stolen:

    - Lighers

    - Cigarettes

    - Bullets *

    - Gun Clips *

    - Underwear

    - Knives

    - Scissors

    - Anything else that counts as sharp including shaving razors. (Fortunately she has never harmed herself)

    - Her ear medicine

She also steals the TV. She apparently doesn't always like our programing and sits on the remote until the channel changes. She likes nature shows with lots of animals especially bears.

    * We did not have weapons or bullets out where she could have easy access to. We eventually had to put them in a high cabinet and tape the door shut to make sure she couldn't get to them. When we cleaned under the couch and found her "stash" we found that she had still gotten some. They are now in the gun safe.

  • Strange Cat Behaviors?

What does your kitty do that's just completely abnormal? Is it a special trick or bizzare personality quirk?

Mine has several. There are times when I think I got a dog instead of cat:

    1. She likes to drink out of the toliet. We don't let her, but sometimes she gets by us.

    2. She knows how to turn the facuets on. These actually have to turn clockwise to be able to turn on - it's not just pushing up a lever. There's been times when one of us has been showering and we hear running water only to find that kitty has turned the water on - again.

    3. She dances with dust

    4. She hangs up side down from the couch.

    5. She coos like a dove

    6. She moves her water dish around the kitchen and gets touchy when we put it back. Apparently she doesn't like it next to her food.

    7. She opens doors by turning the knobs.

    8. She likes to watch intimate moments.

    9. She stares at you in the bathroom.

    Yours?

  • How many here think that depression...?

is something that can be cured by praying hard enough or having enough faith?

Or by bringing someone into your life that can cheer you up?

My question comes from some of the answers given to the recent 'do suicides go to hell' question. A lot of people seem to have a misunderstanding of depression. That it is just an inability to cope with life and those with it just need someone to come along and cheer them up. Or that they don't have enough faith in G-d to help them cope.

I have suffered from depression before in my life, and my other half suffers from it greatly. I can say it is an insiduous disease that haunts you, and hunts you. It is not about being unable to cope, but to have your whole world disintergrate and you feel completly helpless.

I am curious to hear from those who believe that G-d can cure depression, or if there are those on here that believe depression is an infliction from Satan etc.

  • Do the Christians Here...?

have a distinct opinion about converting Jewish people?

Do you view it as something that is absolutely necessary?

Or is it not so important?

Do you believe the Jews keeping their faith essential to your second coming prophecies to be fulfilled?

Or the way - that Jews have to be converted prior to the second coming?

I'm curious to hear views on this - both personal and religion based. I would rather receive answers that contained BOTH personal views and scripture - not just scripture alone.

  • Outrage over Vaccine?

I have a question for all of you in R&S that think cervical cancer is some disease that is striking down hundreds of thousands of women each year.

Do you actually know how prevelant cervical cancer is?

Ovarian Cancer is listed as a rare disease. It is also a silent killer. 1 in about 12,000 women this year will develop this deadly and heartless assilant. And many will not know until they are in stage three or four of the cancer.

Cervical cancer affects 1 in about 21,000 women. And HPV is easily detectable on a yearly pap smear, easily treated and cervical cancer can be avoided.

Seeing that Ovarian cancer is rare -then Cervical cancer is almsot unheard of.

So why should parents be forced to treat their children with a vaccine? Why should it be mandatory?

And why do you disagree with the Christian groups who say that this is something that can be prevented - if one abstains. I did. Why not teach self control instead?

  • Defective DNA?

Piriate Sean wrote this as an answer as to whether atheists believe homosexuality is nature (I'm not picking on anyone, I just thought it was interesting):

"Its not against nature, who told you that? Nature is whats making them gay to weed out their defective dna. Pick upo a science book and get out of your fridge midge."

Does this make homosexuals uncomfortable - to think that they may have some type of defect that must be stoped from continuing? That we may have to accept homosexuality for the betterment of society?

  • Why is it that those that demand tolerance....?

Are the slowest to give it to others?

So often there are questions on here by people who target audiences that they know aren't going to agree with them. They ask for other people's opinions. And then they cry and scream when they aren't supported.

One of the big ones is homosexuality. Obviously, Jews and Christians aren't going to support this. And because of this, they aren't going to support gay marriage. I can tell you from a Jewish point of view it's not just about following some ancient rules that you may believe to be outdated. The union between man and woman in the covenant of marriage is the most sacred between humans - and it has many secrets that are unlocked when this union happens. Secrets of the Torah and the relationship between G-d and man.

Why do people seem to crave approval from those they can't get it from? Why is my opinion and belief less then yours? And why be so angry and full of hate towards us? I do not treat you this way.

  • How Many Here....?

feel that it is necessary to have sex before marriage or before taking a relationship to a more serious level? To test and see if the two of you are compatiable?

I'm curious - because I personally believe that it is not necessary. That if the two of you truly have a deep connection there is no need to worry about the physical - it will take care of itself.

We are told often now-a-days that we need to check physical compatiability before we engage in a life long relationship. Or that we some how need to gain skill, as though sex is a sport instead of an intimate gift of oneself to another.

So, I am curious on other's views - and if you felt that because of the physical problems you had to end a relationship. If that was the only difficulty or if there were actually other problems and that one was just the last straw.

And also how many are influenced by their religious beliefs - or lack there of - on this matter.

  • Blood and Forgiveness?

    In Hebrews 9:22 Paul says

"In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the cleansing of blood there is no forgiveness."

This statement - that only blood can forgive sin - cannot be found in the Old Testament. Yes, there were blood sacrifices, but that was not the only way to get forgiveness from God.

A lot of Christians I have met point to Lev 17:11 as the proof for this statement. When in fact it is merely an injunction for not eating blood. No where does it say that blood is the only path to forgivness. And no where does it say this through out the law.

I would like to know where Paul got this idea from. And if it can even be supported by the Old Testament.

  • Only for the Simple-Minded?

The belief that theists are uneducated, inbred, and generally stupid people seems to abound here.

Is that the only way an atheist can justify wide-spread belief in the world?

Honestly - if that's the case, that's pretty sad. Yes, there are some theists out there that are not the brightest stars in the heavens by a long shot - but so are some atheists. I have met some atheists that are dumber then a rock. Should I then say that all atheists are uneducated and stupid?

It seems more of a statement based in desperation. That the only way to explain it is to insult another's intelligence.

There are some brillant people out there who are theists. Note, I didn't say Christian - just that they have some faith in the Divine. And I have met others that have discovered so much through science that they became theists.

Please - I don't insult the intelligence of atheists. Is this the only way atheists know how to interact?

  • Baptism by immersion?

For all of you who continue to claim that one can only be truly saved by baptism by immersion, answer me this:

What about the theif on the cross? The one who asked forgivness of Jesus and Jesus told him there was a place in heaven for him. I didn't see him jumping down from cross and running to the nearest river. Jesus didn't say - "I'd take you to heaven, but you haven't been immersed in water. Oops."

Sometimes it is not possible to be baptised - some people are 'saved' and do not have a chance. Some it is just not possible - chronically ill.

Nor did Jesus give guidelines to what baptism was supposed to entail. Show me where it says that - that it must be carried out a certain way or the person isn't saved.

  • An extension on the Jews demanding Jesus's death?

This is an extension based on the answers I got before on the verse Matt 27:25 "His blood be on us and on our children."

    1. Stoning took place all the time in Jesus' time. It's in the NT. Saying that the Jews couldn't stone Jesus is paradoxical at best.

    2. Jesus' supposed crime was supposed to be blasphemy against God. It was not a political crime - hence Pilate shouldn't have even been involved. So, which was it - a relgious or a political crime?

    3. There were other Messiah figures at the time put to death by being nailed to the cross. The Romans had no problem with this. Pilate thought he was innocent. Hence - there was no political crime so he wouldn't have been crucified.

    4. Saying that the reason they didn't stone him because it wouldn't have fulfilled prophecy is pretty bad. Christians pride themselves on being historically accurate - that the bible can be 'proved'.

I actually want answers - I'm not askings to attakc Christians, etc.

  • "His blood be on us and on our children"?

The above is from Matthew 27:25. The Jews chant this when Pilate comes back and says he cleans his hands of Jesus' death - that this man is innocent.

    1. Why would the Jews actually chant this?

    2. Why would Pilate care what the Jews thought? The Pilate from historical documents that we have was a cruel man who slaughtered the Jews right and left whenever they refused to follow Roman law. Pilate claimed he was innocent. The Jews were a minority - and not a well liked one at that.

    3. Why wouldn't the Jews just stone Jesus to death if they truly thought that he was so guilty that they would take the blame not only on themselves but on their children? There are numerous mentions of stonings throughout the NT. Including the one Jesus stopped. Obviously the Jews were still able to do this - they still had their own courts. They had already found Jesus guilty - why drag him to the Romans?

  • Islam Questions?

I have some questions concerning the following verses. I want to know how Islam can be peaceful with the following verses being in the Korean. And how it can be accepting of other religions.

Surah 5:51 O ye who believe! Take none among the Jews and Christians as your protectors and friends.

Hadith 9:57 Mohhamad says if anyone changes from the Islamic religion, kill him.

Surah 5:29 Fight all those who do not believe in Allah.

Surah 4:34 As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill conduct, admonish them, refuse to share their beds, and beat them...

Hadith 9:57 Any action against Islam results in one's death. (paraphrased)

Hopefully all the references are correct - I don't have a copy sitting in front of me right now. If I missed spelled anything or miscited anything I apologize. It is not my intention to misrepresent a religion.

  • Question to Christians?

This is something I have seen both when I was a Christian and as a non-Christian. Assumptions about a person's faith and actual background.

I asked a question about where the idea of Christians only be able to understand the bible came from. The assumptions:

A person told me this and cost me my faith

That I only read the bible to disprove it

I was never in a relationship with Jesus any way

I pick and choose what I want to believe in

I must have read the JW bible (I have never in my life read this)

When I lost my faith, it wasn't because I was trying. I read the bible and really studied it, asking for God's help so that I could understand my faith. The last thing I expected to do was lose it.

I also had a close and personal relationship with Jesus.

So why does it seem impossible to just answer a question without assuming about the asker? What is the reason for this? Why must my personal background be such a intergal part of answering a neutral question

  • Proper reading of the bible?

Where does the belief stem from that if one is not a Christian then one cannot properly understand the bible?

If one cannot properly understand the bible - then how in the world can them become Christian? That's where the entire story and minsitry of Jesus is contained. Where all the 'fulfilled prophecies' that 'prove' he's the Messiah are written. How can one convert to Christianity and accept Jesus if they don't understand the bible and the actual message before becoming Christian?

This always seemed like a Catch 22 to me - and something I am always accused of when I talk to Christians about the bible. I am told that I just don't understand when I try to talk to them about certain prophecies, looking from a more Jewish perspective.

Ironically enough I was a devout follower of Jesus - until I really looked at the bible.

  • Older Men - Younger Women?

My husband is 16 years my senior - and we have met some people that find it strange that such an age difference wouldn't hidder us. (I'm in my thirties, he's in his forties).

I'm curious how many women are out there with an significantly older husband/boyfriend (more then 5 years her senior) and your thoughts about age differences. What attracted you to your partner? Was it his age and that he was older and seemed more mature? Or were you attracted before the two of you ever realized there was such a gap?
