How many nutrients in green juice are lost by freezing?
I want to juice my dark leafy greens (kale, beet greens, chard) make ice cubes with this juice and then toss them into my smoothies each day. If I plan on using them up in a week or so, is this feasible or are too many nutrients lost by this process?
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness9 years agoIs Poland worth a trip overseas?
I'm a 52 yo Polish woman from the US and would like to take my mother (who is still healthy) to Poland. She knows Polish but I do not.
Two questions:
1.) Is Poland worth a trip overseas? (This would be like the only big trip I've ever taken in my life)
2.) I'd like to learn some Polish before I go, do you know of any good software that would help with this?
7 AnswersPoland9 years agoOld-fashioned, less sweet brownie recipe?
I'm looking for a recipe for nut brownies that doesn't seem to be popular anymore. I don't even know what kind of brownies they are, but I DO know that they are not really fudgey - they seem less sweet somehow. A woman I use to work with brought them in. I told her I remember tasting brownies like that a long time ago, and asked for the recipe, but she just kept ignoring me when I asked. I'm trying to figure out what the difference is - maybe coffee? I seem to remember them when I was younger, but nobody makes them like that anymore. Today, most brownies are too fudgey / too sweet. Anybody know what I'm talking about? Anybody have a recipe? Thanks so much in advance. (It's my mother's birthday Sunday...)
2 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years agoWhere can I find help understanding the King James Version Bible?
Hi. I'm planning on beginning to study the Holy Bible from cover to cover (I know it will take me the rest of my life!). I collected a series of versions for this purpose such as the NKJV, the NASB and the HCSB thinking that the KJV is just TOO HARD to understand and make sense of. Yesterday, however, a pastor of a Bible-based church told me to focus on the King James Version. I wasn't able to spend much time talking to him, but he told me that there is some type of "defining" bible / literature / information (not sure which) that could help me make sense of the pronouns such as "Thee", "Thou", "Thine" and "Ye", endings on verbs such as "eth" and "est", and archaic words, idioms and phrases that have lost or changed meanings. He made it seem like there was a specific KJV Bible (a "defining" Bible-?) that gave a LOT of help in these areas. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay around long enough to get and understand his complete answer. Does anyone know of such a Bible or other source of information that I could use to familiarize myself with the terminologies of the KJV? In the past, every time I tried to use the KJV, I got frustrated and gave up. The NKJV and the NASB seem to be so much easier, but he claims that the KJV is the best. Any help and/or suggestions in this area would be truly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoQuestion about computer game: Cake Mania 2 - are there more levels?
I'm not sure what level I'm on, but it appears to be the last one in the Moon building. I start the level with $2999 for purchases. I upgraded the middle oven for $2000 and it leaves me with $999. I play the level and have succeeded in completing the level and collecting the "Time Bender" award. (I've done this 3 times now.) But when I try to continue to what I'm thinking will be the next level, I'm back with $2999, without the oven upgrade, and it appears that I just keep playing the same level over and over. Is this the end of the game? Is there a secret at this point, or maybe a glich in the game program? I am playing on Windows XP and don't appear to be having any other problems with the game. The characters in this level (I don't know the correct names) are: the purple Alien and the Clown-looking guy or alien dressed in white with the freaky eyes, the Biker-looking dude, the Cop, the Granny with the baby, and the Samurai. Once in a while a guy who looks like an actor or someone in a black suit pops in. Any ideas on what the problem might be?

1 AnswerPC1 decade agoInformation about asbestos siding?
Does anyone know of any regulations concerning asbestos siding when purchasing a home? My son is planning on purchasing a home and just found out it has asbestos siding. The siding looks like it is in very good shape, but I'm worried that FHA might give him a problem about the siding. Does it have to be removed or encapsulated? In your opinion, should he look for a different house?

6 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoPLEASE HELP: How to copy e-mails from a computer onto CDs?
I've been trying to figure out how to do this for a couple years now so that I can give my computer a much needed reformatting. I hate to lose my e-mails since I belong to a couple groups that send out info on health and various other subjects that are important to me.
Finally, while reading our local newspaper this morning, my husband came across an article with instructions on how to do this under a column entitled: "Help Desk".
It says that you must first create a new file folder by going to Internet Explorer and opening My Computer. Then highlight the C disk. In the File menu choose "NEW" and then "FOLDER" and the new folder will show up on the C drive's list of folders.
Then it says you can copy e-mails from Outlook "one at a time or in groups" by clicking on the "EDIT" heading, then using the "COPY" (for individual files) or "SELECT ALL" and "COPY" (for all the files in one Outlook folder) commands, then go to the new folder and "PASTE" the e-mails. Then from there you can burn to a CD.
First of all, Internet Explorer is the web browser and I don't see a way to access My Computer from it. So I went to my desktop and accessed My Computer from there and followed the instructions for creating a new folder.
Then I went back to Outlook Express. I tried to copy a list of e-mails, but Outlook will not allow me to access the C drive from it, only the files in Outlook. I tried copying the e-mails, minimizing Outlook, opening the new C drive folder, but it will not allow me to "PASTE". I tried "SAVING AS", "MOVE TO FOLDER" and also "EXPORTING", but they will not give me access to the C drive either. "SAVING AS" will allow me to copy ONE email to the C drive at a time, (which is useless), but as soon as I select more than one e-mail, the "SAVE AS" option is no longer available.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I have more than a thousand emails I'd like to copy onto disk.
3 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoWanting to learn more about Partial Preterism?
Does anyone (who understands what "preterism" is) know of any churches (esp. in the Cleveland area) or on the internet where I can learn more about "Partial Preterism" and what it means to today's christians? I believe in partial preterism, but when I look it up on the internet, all I can find are articles refuting (full) preterism. Also, is there another term I can look under that doesn't contain the word "preterism" in it? It seems that as soon as the word "preterism" is mentioned, walls of refuting go up.

2 AnswersMovies1 decade agoI've got my yams pealed, cut, and ready to steam...?
but I'm not going to use them until tomorrow (getting too tired). I wanted to get part of the process finished today. Can I store the cut yams in the fridge as is, or should I steam them first? Do they need to soak in water or anything while in the fridge to prevent them from going bad since they are pealed? I'm going to be making sweet potatoe pie for Thursday. Thanks in advance for your help.
8 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoHow do I substitute dry herbs for fresh when the recipe calls for 1/4 bunch?
The marinade recipe (for wild boar) I want to make calls for 1/4 bunch of rosemary and 1/4 bunch thyme. How many teaspoons or tablespoons of the dry herb can I use in substitution when it calls for 1/4 bunch? I was at the grocery store today and they seemed to have all the other fresh herbs except for these. Thanks in advance.

5 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoHow to cook wild boar?
My daughter shot a 750 bound wild boar the other day. She shared a lot of the meat with friends, but I now have two shelves of it in my freezer, various cuts. I need to learn how to cook it. Without thinking, I tried cooking a couple chops like regular chops - 425 for a half hour, but of course it was extremely tough - I wasn't thinking. I'm guessing it HAS TO be cooked slow - 250 degrees - is this correct? Also, does anyone know if wild boar carries the same dangers as store bought pork, ie: trichinosis? Does it have to be cooked fully? I'd really appreciate any recipes you might have. Thanks in advance.
8 AnswersHunting1 decade agoChildren and hunting. When and how to expose a child to their parents hunting for food?
My family has always lived in the suburbs and I don't know much about hunting. My daughter and her husband "legally" hunt year round for most of their meat, fish and fowl. Although I don't think I myself could hunt (except for survival if I had to), I am not against it. In fact, my husband and I have been eating quite a bit of wild game this past year, thanks to my daughter and son-in-law. My granddaughter just turned two years old a few weeks ago and is starting to understand more and more. She watches her parents go out with guns / bows, dressed in camouflage, and come home with their catch. Together they watch television programs about hunting. Today, my daughter called me to tell me that my granddaughter connected a picture of a gun and a picture of a deer with her crayon, saying "Shoot". My daughter asked my opinion as to whether I thought this exposure to "killing" animals might negatively affect their daughter. Since no one in my family has ever hunted, I didn't know how to answer her. Coincidently, this past Sunday I happened to be flipping through TV stations when I came across a program showing a man bow hunting an actual buck in the woods on camera. When the arrow hit the side of the animal and the animal jumped into the air, I flinched and then felt sad for the deer. I was suprised at my reaction since I've been eating quite a bit of game for over a year now. Are there any hunters out there with children who could give me advice on this subject? I know that hunting for food is a "natural" thing, but I'm not sure how and when to expose a child to it. Thanks in advance for any help on this subject.
