  • How to get cat to eat good quality food?

I adopted a cat a week ago. I was actually looking for a dog, since I lost my 18-year old Tibetan Spaniel 2 months ago, but I agreed to foster this cat and he has already found his way into my heart. He's very sweet and affectionate. Guess I am officially a "cat person" now! I'm signing the adoption papers this week. He was found abandoned in a foreclosed house, and managed to survive for several weeks with no food, so he is very skinny.

Anyway, it appears that he likes AIMS food, but I want him to eat something better quality. He will eat a little of the Blue Buffalo food I got him, but not enough. My friend gave me a small bag of AIMS and yeah, he loves it but it is crappy food with corn and by-products. I also am giving him canned food - Nutro Ultra since it was on sale, but may end up cooking chicken or fish and some vegetables for his "wet" diet. Anyone have any recommendations for a super premium food that picky cats actually like?

  • Job boards - reaching recruiters?

I am a telecommunications and Cisco Networking project coordinator.

I am networking and applying to jobs with limited success.

My last two positions came up via recruiters who found my resume online.

I'm currently posted on Career Builder, Monster, Yahoo HotJobs, Dice and ComputerJobs. I also have a profile on LinkedIn.

Any other sites you might recommend to increase my exposure? Any other ways to reach recruiters?

  • What do you think of my first video?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsJpsXBDX-w

Honestly I didn't set out to do a plug for Obama. I was just trying to figure out how to use my videomaker and chose the shortest song on my ITunes. It just seemed to fit... (the men who hold high places) ;)

Technical or creative feedback is welcome!

Political opinions, well, as we all know, opinions are like a**holes. We all have them, LOL!

  • What do you think of this headline?

---Tornado Leaves 45 Dead, Bush Offers Special Prayers to Victims---

    From here: http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/20080206/tornado-b...

"Prayers can help and so can the government," said Bush during his address in Washington. "I want the people in those affected states to know that all American people are standing with them."

These people don't need prayers! They need assistance!

Sure let's all hold hands and sing kumbaya while these people go through the same nightmare that those in New Orleans are still going through.

  • Why do I have to declare my state tax refund as income?

As far as I know, state tax is not a deductible on my federal return, so the feds already taxed me.

How can they justify my state tax refund from 2006 as income for 2007?

    Isn't that double dipping?

    I hate the IRS...

  • Disturbing dream about my grandkids?

I'm usually quite good at interpreting my dreams, but this one has me stumped.

I was at a strange house with my daughter and 2 grandsons (Justin age 3 and Kyle 10 months) and some other people. We were sort of having a picnic in the back yard which was very lush and green.

Daughter asks me if I could take the 3 year-old in to put him down for his nap. We go inside, and the house is like a maze (as are most of my house dreams, which are frequent - I know the house symbolizes my inner life)

We open a door and there are twin beds and a television on. I decide it's the wrong room and we start climbing a large flight of stairs. I turn to check on Justin behind me, and I see baby Kyle crawling up the banister. I yell out to Justin, "oh my god, get your brother before he gets hurt!" Justin reaches out, but then the baby starts sliding down the railing and lands headfirst on the floor at the bottom. At this point I woke up with my heart pounding.

  • How has synchronicity worked for you?

It shows up in the strangest ways for me. Songs, billboards, license plates, cereal boxes...

  • What is the point of marriage?

I can understand the legal protection if one is planning to have children, but what about people who do not want or cannot have children, or those who are past the age of childbearing?

    Does love need a guarantee?

I don't want archaic rules from religious books. That was all well and good for those times, when women could not survive very well without a man. Thankfully, times have changed. I support myself. I see absolutely no reason to get into a binding contract with someone I love.

  • How would Jesus vote?

Assuming he were alive today and a U.S. citizen, a carpenter and itinerant preacher?

What I want to know, is HOW would He decide? What issues are REALLY important to Him? Would He do his own research on the candidates or would He make up his mind based on sound bites from the media, or based on what his friends, family and followers think? Would He vote at all? Would He get involved in a campaign?

If you think He would vote for a particular candidate or party, why?

  • Religious figures are simply archetypes. Do you agree?

A few recent questions made me reflect on the idea that most, if not all religious figures/personas and symbols are simply archetypes; a way for us to connect and meditate on the qualities of that person or object.

For a Catholic it could be the figure of Mother Mary or Jesus on the cross as symbols of compassion or sacrifice. For a Buddhist, a figure of the Buddha or Quan Yin for enlightenment or compassion. For a Hindu, Shiva/Shakti/Ganesh as the masculine and feminine principles of creation. This is not "idol worship" but simply a way to focus on desirable moral traits that we are trying to achieve.

  • I need a portable blacklight for hunting scorpions. Recommendations please?

I live in Arizona. I found a scorpion in my garage last month, and last night I almost stepped on one in my kitchen. I don't mind them so much outside, but now that they are getting in my house, I have got to do something.

There are LED black flashlights, and this cool head light, which is nice because it will leave my hands free.

There is this battery operated flourescent one that is really cheap. I'd like to pay less than $40-50. Not sure which one will work better.

Any other recommendations for scorpion hunting? If I can find a good set of long tongs I might even consider catching and releasing in the desert a few blocks away.

(I know, I'm weird. I hate killing any kind of critters)

  • Agnostic looking for Christ... Which Christian sect truly teaches the loving message of Jesus?

I gave up on Christianity when I went to college because I grew up in a bible-beating religion. I don't do dogma, guilt, or shame.

I have strong spiritual beliefs, and would be open to attending a church that teaches the TRUE message of Jesus Christ, that is - love and acceptance, no hell, no dogma, no human judgement, with kind and loving people in the congregation. Caring for the Earth and future generations is also a great concern.

Which church would you recommend and why?
