  • Groomsmen Dinner Guests?

My future daughter-in-law just told me that I am supposed to pay and make the Groomsmen dinner for 52 people. That is a large amount of people and I have not gotten to know my future daughter-in-law at all. She is already has my son only seeing me once a month at most, while she sees her family members multiple times per week. I think she is invited her entire family plus the wedding party. Only myself and 2 sons (in which one is the groom and the other a groomsman) is invited to the Groomsmen's dinner that I am aware of in which I am preparing and putting together. I am a single Mom and have very little income. I almost died when she told me the count was 52 people. It was 50 and I decided I needed help from 2 people that I have to change it from 50 to 52. I will be paying and preparing all the food myself. No help from anyone. I realize this is a special occasion, but I think this is a bit much. I am also paying for 1/2 of the liquor for the reception, social hour and dance. I was under the impression it was going to be a small gathering, but 52 guest in my opinion is not small. I have not even been told how many people are invited to the wedding. I have been left out of everything and have asked multiple times if I can help in anyway. Financially this is a heavy burden for me. I am afraid to ask questions as I don't want to make anyone upset.

  • I would like to know what to watch out for in a Attorney Contingency Retainer Agreement?

This is in regards to a employment discrimination case.

    1. What should the retainer fees be? I am being requested of 40% of settlement + costs after the 40% is deducted from settlement. Shouldn't this be done on a sliding scale....ie: 25% if settled with a letter, 33% if settled with arbitration, 40% if goes to trial? What is common in California Law?

    2. Costs + Expenses & bills...What should be put here and shouldn't costs be deducted prior to the percentage of settlement?

    3. Lien...what should be and not should be shown on the verbiage? Is the lien only applied towards settlement?

    Lien Verbiage: Is this okay?

"You agree that we have a lien for our fees, costs and expenses which we incur and earn in representing you. If we are discharged as attorneys for you for any reason, you agree you will pay fees we have earned and costs and expenses we have incurred to that time. This lien will be against any recovery you might obtain on your case. You understand that you have the right to consult other legal counsel with regard to Attorneys' lien and that giving Attorneys a lien against the proceeds of your case may result in adverse consequences to you under some circumstances. You have either consulted with other counsel in regard to this lien or you hereby waive your right to consult with other counsel and agree to the provision of this lien.

I would like to have advise if the above information is standard or not.

    Thank you!

  • Home Loans: I have applied for a home loan & now want to cancel...it there a cancellation fee?

I have applied for a Home Loan and the loan company wanted me to pay off all of my bills, I did so and now they are asking me to Close out 3 of my Credit Cards. The credit cards I have had for decades and feel I should not have to do this. I have no debts and it is for a small loan of $70,000. that I plan to have only for less than a year. Can I cancel this Loan Application without penalty? I have found an alternative to purchase the home myself without taking out a Home Loan. They have been holding up my Home Loan purchase. Any advise would be appreciated.

  • disability harassment?

How much proof does one have to provide to the EEOC if they were harassed at work about their disability? Apparently, rules for some employees don't apply, but it does for the person with a disability at this job. Constant picking, riding on this employee, inside phone calls every half hour asking how much this person did, write-ups weekly if not more often, while others are working at the same pace don't get the same. Then when the employee blows the whistle, the Managers say "oh, we did not know this person had a disability" even tho it is very apparent. What actions can be done to show proof? This is a really sad ordeal for this person. Any advise would be grateful.

  • ceramic tile installation?

I have installed ceramic tile in my shower and it turned out beautifully. Beneath it I put in the backerboard and then applied a coat of Ceramic Adhesive (that I purchased from Lowe's) with the tiles on top and then mixed my own mortar with a sealer completing the job. Next we decided to tile our bathroom floor and same thing....and it turned out great....no problems what so ever. Now for my problem....we decided to do the same in our Laundryroom and kitchen floors....with only one difference and it is the brand of Ceramic Adhesive called Acrypro from Home Depot. Since we have been using this Acrypro Ceramic Adhesive...the tiles don't seem to adhere to the ceramic adhesive/floor. It is the same install with backerboard, tiles, etc....only thing different is the adhesive. I am so disappointed as I have tried to remove it, clean it up again and re-install and still seem to have problems. The only thing that seems to help some is by putting heavy weight on the tiles, but it is hard to do for all. I am wondering if it is just the brand that is causing me so many problems. This is the second pail we bougt at $30.+ a pail. I am prepared to return the last pail to Home Depot and go back to Lowe's to finish the job....correctly! Has anyone else experienced this type of problem and what did you do to resolve it? Any suggestions would be helpful (for this project and future projects). Thanks!

  • My cat is having a hard time eating/drinking & coughs up phlegm.?

I had 2 cats, Sonny & Tags at 17 years old each. I say had because Sonny had to be put down on Friday and this hurt me more than ever as he gave me so much love, affection & fun over the past 17 years, but I know he is better off now as he was suffering the last few days and the vet said it was best for him and not much could be done for him at this time. Tags is also 17 yrs old and she just started to get sick where she has one runny eye and she can't keep food & water down because she keeps throwing it up... but it is mostly phlegm. The Vet took some blood test and then put her on an IV drip for a couple of hours to hydrate her more and then we picked her up. Next day, Vet called and said that she has hyperthyroidism and put her on Methimazole, a prescription medicine that she will need take for the rest of her life. She also got an antibiotic injection plus Clavamox drops to take to help her get better. Problem is....she has been on the medications for 2 days now and she still can't keep her food down. I am able to give her medicine by an eye dropper and she struggles with that, but I have been successful. I then bought some pill pockets and she LOVES them and is working to give her the pills, plus I've given her a few extra if she will take them. But I have tried to give her cat milk, tuna, chicken soup/broth, water, pasty cat foods, you name it. The Vet's office called this morning to check on her and I told them about this and they said that they will let the Vet know and he may return my call later....but they did recommend baby food (like chicken and rice or something like that). So I will try that too. Last night I did force down about 2 droppers of the cat milk. I am hoping that the little bit I got down her is doing some good and she will start to improve, but I am so worried about her. So far I have spent over $700.00 in the last 3 days. By the way...all of her other tests seem to be normal for her age and the Vet did say because of her age that they could not promise that she will recover. I just could not put both of my pets down, especially Tags since she has been healthy until just the last few days. I am wondering if anyone has experienced the same with their cats and can share some good suggestions, feedback or input. Please do not tell me to put her down...it is the very last resort. I know that she probably needs to go back to the Vet....but maybe I am not giving her enough time to respond to the medications. She is responding to me when I call her and walks around. This morning she was all excited for her food, but that changed after the first couple of licks. Thank you for your kind thoughts/suggestions....anything you have to offer is and will be most appreciated.
