  • Army Reserve Pay Schedule?

I'm curious about which time of month you receive your pay for doing Battle Drill. For example, does it come on a fixed date such as the 15th of each month? Or is it usually a certain number of days after your weekend Battle Drill?

  • Dying polyester blend?

Hello everyone, I am trying to recycle my Halloween costume from last year, this involves a white doctor's lab coat that I would like to dye red. Now I understand that dying 100% polyester can be very difficult and dangerous, but the lab coat is 20% cotton and 80% polyester. My question is, is there enough cotton in that to take red dye well enough to effectively dye the lab coat? Thank you for any help, I will choose a best answer.

  • About the Hi-Point 995. . .?

I am considering buying this firearm as a bit of a novelty/fun gun and to satisfy my hunger for another firearm. If it helps I already one two .22 LR's, one 12 gauge, one 20 gauge and one .223. This question is for those who have had experience with 995, not those who have never even handled one before or are going by the opinion that they have of other Hi-Point firearms.

To start off this question, how reliable has this firearm been for you? By this I mean how many malfunctions/jams do you usually have, if any at all? Does it jam up when taking different types of ammo?

The next question is how far can you accurately fire this weapons with ease? Are the sights accurate enough to your liking?

Now how ergonomic does this firearm handle? Does it feel natural when picking up and shouldering? Is the recoil/barrel jump easily manageable for quick shot follow ups?

If you have any advice on how to make the firearm more enjoyable/accurate please feel free to include that in you answer!

I will chose a best answer!

  • Which .223 55 gr. or less ammo?

Ok, so here it is. I have a single shot .223 rifle with a "lazy" 1in12 RH twist out of a 18 1/2" barrel, I plan on using it for mostly varmint (prairie dog up-to coyote) and small hog (more around the range of piglets). Obviously with the slower twist I am going to be using 55 grain at max, so my question is what would you recommend for best penetration and expansion at this weight? This is for the coyote/fox and hog, I would just use V-Max for the small varmint. Any hog/coyote shots will be well under 100 yards.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • So how has your luck been with 20 gauge slugs?

Here's the question, how has your luck been with 20 gauge slugs on deer in the past? Say out of a mod-choked 23" bbl? I would like to know the farthest distance you have successfully taken deer at, your preferred ammunition, and what you would consider the limits to be of your preferred ammunition.

Ok, I am going to throw in another question just for the heck of it. So we have had many questions about military rifles, and their use in military combat, the past few days from a certain member of YA! that I have always tried to be nice to and give my best answer to when they asked a question that I felt I could answer. My question is this, do you think that people should post military questions (which contain no hunting references in them) in the hunting forum and then we should get them banned for continually posting in the wrong section? Or what would you consider to be proper course of action to help better the YA! hunting forum?

  • What do you know about the Judge Circuit from Rossi?

This is referring to the Judge Circuit, which is a carbine and not a handgun. This is it http://www.usacarry.com/forums/long-guns-discussio... . I would like to know about action reliability, accuracy, velocity and ergonomics (accuracy/velocity compared to single shot break-action .410) as well as anything you woul like to throw in. I like the idea of a revolving cylinder .410 carbine, but I do not know if I like the outcome. This would be a multi-purpose firearm, hunting, plinking/fun-gun.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and a top answer will be chosen.

Thank you, God bless and have a great day!

  • Czech Vz. 58 price an quality?

Ok, so I was walking through Gandermountain yesterday and noticed that they had a sporter style Vz. 58 for sell. It was in absolutely pristine condition, a new skeletal composite stock and fore grips. The chamber and bore were in great shape as well was the rifling.

I was wondering if anyone knows what a good price for one of these things would be. Also, does anyone know how reliable they are?

Any help will be appreciated! Thank you.

  • Which lever action, in handgun caliber, should I buy?

Ok, I am not looking for a lever-action in a rifle cartridge, any answers stating that I should get one in a rifle cartridge instead will not be chosen as best answer. I have always been more of a bolt-action man, so I do not have a great amount of knowledge on lever-actions. As the headline states, I am looking to buy a lever-action rifle in handgun caliber, I am debating between .44 Mag, .45 Colt and .357 Mag. I am somewhat leaning towards the .44, I have handled a few and like the feel of it, but if this is not the optimal round please state so. I plan on doing some hunting eventually with this rifle, but mostly for my personal enjoyment at the range. Also, I live in Texas, just in case you are wondering for my local firearm laws. My price range is some where around $500-600, I would be willing to buy a good used one if I must. Now that you have the information, I would like to know you're opinion on a good make and model as well as round for said firearm, as well as the pro's and con's of that firearm.

    I greatly appreciate all help.

  • Sick duckling, what's wrong?

Ok, my brother's girlfriend has some ducklings, we went to change there water this morning and one of them was laying underneath the heat lamp on it's back, while the rest were away from the heat lamp. The duckling was also breathing heavily with it's mouth open. We removed the duckling to see what was going on, it was VERY hot and had a high heart rate. After a few minutes if threw up. We took it into the backyard and let it walk around a little bit, as well as had some water for it to drink from or swim in. It will NOT drink, swim or forage in the grass, this duckling is usually VERY active. Any idea what it could have and how to treat it?

  • Threading size for an AR-15 stock?

Original: "I'm working on the design of a side folding stock for a small rifle, this way it will be more compact for use with long term backpacking and kayaking. I plan on using a spare stock for a rifle and reworking an AR-15 side folding adapter in. What I would like to know is what are the threading measurements on an AR-15 stock.

And just to let you see, this is the adapter in question http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B002TUSDQ2... . It is designed for the AR to AK adaption, but that part is of no concern in this particular project.

A top answer WILL be chosen. Thank you for your time."

Ok, so apparently when I asked this NO ONE could understand that this is NOT for an AR-15 of any sort. This hinge http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B002TUSDQ2... goes into this http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AKS165-6.html . So now that you understand, I hope that you will answer the question. What is the thread size? If you don't know the answer, then please don't try to answer. Like I said, this is NOT for an AR-15, and I'm fully aware of Stoner's buffer tube.

Thank you and have a great day.

  • Different .22 LR ammo to try out?

Ok, so I bought a Marlin 925 .22 LR bolt-action and I was wondering y'all's opinion on the ammo I should try so that I know what it's preferred "food" is. So far I already have the following .22 LR ammo: 40 grain Federal Champion 510 LR round-nose solid lead, 40 grain Winchester Wildcat 22 LR round-nose solid lead, 38 grain Remington 22 Subsonic LR round-nose HP, 33 grain Remington 22 Yellow Jacket LR truncated cone HP, and 36 grain CCI Mini-Mag LR. (note: I have already used the Yellow Jacket LR HP to kill a 200 lbs hog with a pump Savage 29b "Ranger" but have never target shot with them. I have target shot with 510 Federal Champion, using the 29b, and would get about 5 duds out of a box of 50.) So now I was wondering if there is any other ammo that you would recommend me trying out in my Marlin 925. Also if you could tell me the most effective range for your recommended round I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for all your help.

  • I'm looking for a good .22 Magnum auto or revolver. NOT a main sidearm.?

Before anyone starts telling me to get a .40 S&W, .45 ACP, 357 Magnum, etc. I know what a .22 can do, I put a LR Yellow Jacket hollow point .22 clean through a 200 lbs boar, and yes it did mushroom, I found the second one in the opposite rib cage, fully expanded.

Now that we have that out of the way, I would like to know your honest opinion on what type of .22 Mag handgun to get: auto or revolver, make and model; and if you know anyone that produces a .22-250 revolver. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I intend on using .22 HP only in it, except at the range of course.

  • Looking for any info on the Savage model 29a "Ranger" edition. please?

I was wondering if I could get some answers about my rifle, a Savage Model 29a "Ranger". I would really like to know the date of manufacturing. It has a 23" round barrel. Tube fed pump action. Tube magazine is 19" long with spring rod in place. Right side ejection port. Take down knob on left side of receiver directly above trigger. Internal workings are in a removable block form. Pump grip is 7 3/4" long walnut with 16 ribs for grip. Pump grip is attached to the slide of the action with 2 screws, one on each side, near the rear of the grip (screws are placed between two ribs on the grip). Butt stock is smooth walnut with NO checkering or other patterns/markings. Metal butt plate attached with 2 screws. Marked "22 S L & LR" on left side of barrel just in-front of receiver. Serial Number 7690K ("K" is located directly under Serial Number), Serial Number is located on the front of the receiver below tube magazine. The word "Ranger" is engraved on the left side of the receiver. Rifle is mechanically and physically identical to the Savage Model 29a, with the exception of the word "Ranger" on the left side of the receiver.

Any information would be greatly appreciated, and thank you for taking the time to read this.
