  • fairy party assistant wage?

I run a little party studio and i occasionally need someone to assist with the parties. I'm struggling to figure out how much to pay an assistant. The parties only go for 1 1/2 hours so i was thinking $30 per party?

Obviously, i would pay more if they were actually in charge of running a party, but this is more of an assistants role.

Does this sound ok? Has anyone here worked as a party host or assistant? What did you get paid?

  • Can you freeze cheesecakes that have lemon butter/curd on top?

I have an abundance of homemade lemon curd that i need to use up so i will be making lots of little cheesecakes and spreading it on top. I know you can freeze the cheesecakes, but is it ok to do it with the lemon curd on top?

  • For those that have had both a water birth and a non water birth?

Did you find the water birth made a huge difference as far as pain went...compared to a non-water birth?

I'm considering home birthing my next baby and using a birthing pool...just interested in others experiences with it.

  • For the pagans in the S'thn H'sphere?

Do you guys do the whole Santa/Tree/Presents/Xmas thing in December and then celebrate Yule in June? Or do you cut out the xmas celebrations altogether?

Just curious as to what other pagans do in their households. Our families are all christian so we celebrate with them, just not sure what we are doing in our own home this year. Our 3 year old has just figured out about Santa (from family etc), so she's expecting him to turn up, lol.

    Cheers :)

  • Do you use dual flush toilets in the USA?

I was just wondering how common (or not common) dual flush toilets are over there.

I'm in Australia and dual flush toilets are pretty standard here...the only ones that aren't are usually pretty old models.

I was watching t.v (american show), and they were talking about a dual flush toilet and how great it was, but like it was some kind of great new invention.

I just found it odd...i thought they were pretty common worldwide. What about in the UK..do you guys use dual flush?

    Just curious.

For those who don't know...dual flush toilets have a 'half flush' (for wee's, lol) and a 'full flush' (for everything else, he,he).

  • Why do you think breastfeeding statistics are so low?

Research shows that there are only a small amount of women with 'true' supply issues and most people can overcome many breastfeeding problems with advice & support, so why do we have so a low statistic of breastfeeding mums?

Everyone seems to say, "i know breast is best", but then go on to formula feed by choice, why?

I realise that every mum has the right to feed her baby in anyway she wants...but what about the baby's rights? Doesn't he/she have the right to the best food source available?

I'm not trying to be a breastfeeding nazi, but i know some of you will call me that anyway, i just wonder why something that is the PERFECT food for little ones, isn't given more frequently.

Why do you think there aren't as many breastfeeding mums? Do you think it's not convenient for some? People don't like being 'tied' to their baby.

I do realise there are exceptions, having to go back to work etc, pumping can be hard (i know i couldn't pump full time).

  • Slow 'letdown'?

Just wondering if it's common to have a slow letdown as your baby gets older.

My son is 7.5 months and i've just noticed in the last few weeks he has to work fairly hard to get the milk flowing. It doesn't cause much of an issue...he's just gets annoyed that he has to wait so long for it, lol.

My friend has a baby the same age and she says it's the same for her...is it common around this age?

I breastfed my daughter till she was 22 months and i can't remember it happening with her.

Not really concerned about it, just wondering if it's common.

    Thanks :)

  • Do you think they should show more babies being breastfed on kids t.v?

Or t.v in general for that matter?

I notice when i watch shows with my daughter that they only really ever show babies being bottle fed. The only time i think i have ever seen a breastfeeding baby was on 'playschool' (an aussie show). A little boy was talking about his baby sister and he said 'now she is having milk from mummy', and they showed the mum nursing (discreetly).

I'm in Australia, so most of our television shows are from Australia, the US & the UK, is it different in other countries?

I'm not saying don't show bottle feeding at all, because there are a lot of babies who are bottlefed, but don't you think there should be an equal mix?

Do you think too many people would complain?

    Thanks :)

  • Do you think some people in western cultures are a little detatched from their children?

I'm sure i'll get abused for this, but some of the comments i read on here make me sad.

I read about so many people being worried they are 'spoiling' their kids for picking them up too much when they cry, or co-sleeping or sharing a bedroom with the parents. Everyone seems to think that children need to be in a strict routine, and are trying to make them mini adults. They are concerned when their 2 month old isn't sleeping through the night., why won't my 7 month old hold his own bottle etc, etc...i think you get my drift.

I've seen people use the excuse of 'i'm too busy' or 'it's too time consuming' when talking about why they don't breastfeed.

My friends and family think i'm a bit different because i co-sleep, won't use controlled crying or cry it out methods, breastfed past 1 year old, but to me all these things are just about being close to my children and letting them be children and really enjoying them.

    Would love some opinions.

  • Do you have a problem with your toddler/child seeing a woman breastfeed her baby?

I will admit to being a little shocked to read some comments on here about people wanting to keep their child from seeing a baby being breastfed. I've read cmments along the line of 'want to keep their innocence', 'what do i tell them', etc.

I'm curious to hear from people who feel this way? Why do you think your child shouldn't see this? Do you see it a dirty or perverse?

Do you think that if more children knew a bit more about breastfeeding, then more women would choose to breastfeed when they had their own children?

    Just curious....

  • Won't poo in the toilet!?

My daughter is nearly 3 and pretty much toilet trained through the day...for wees. Now poos are a different story. She just refuses to poo in the toilet. She will wait till night time till we put her pull up/nappy on her for bed and do a poo then. I can't leave her in undies over night as she still wets overnight.

We try to make the toilet as fun as possible, i've tried bribing her, we read books about it, nothing works.

Has anyone elses toddler done this? How long does it go on for? Any suggestions appreciated.
