I would really like to become a stable hand at the place where I ride next year, and yes, I know that it would mean having to get up early on weekends, but if it's for horses, I'm willing to do almost anything. I would be in Year 10 at school, so I would only be able to do it on Saturdays or whenever I can. I have no time this year as I still have too many activities such as ballet, which happens 3 times a week.

Any tips, advice or logical arguments you guys could give me to persuade my parents with? I would mainly need help in the academic, time and transport areas, but I do know that I shall be willing to help out with more chores around the house so that my parents will be more willing when I ask them to drive me there.

There is an deafening silence in the scene and the murderer is trying to hear for any sounds; the protagonist is deadly still. At that moment, a rat runs out from beside/near the protagonist into the view of the murderer, so then he leaves, leaving the protagonist safe and relieved

I'm writing a mystery chapter, and I want to describe the protagonist's feelings (it's in first person). She was hiding in some crates, and the murderer heard something from her general direction, and is advancing towards the crates. How should I describe her feelings and what she's going through? Also, to make her vulnerable, she has a medical condition where she gets random asthma attacks.

I need to improve my writing... I do like a lot of adventure, fantasy, action and thriller themes, and a little too much bloodshed sometimes for it to be normal. Any more suggestions apart from these ones?

2) Hint at possible conflicts/dangers/problems without actually giving anything away

3) Don’t let the characters know everything

4) Make it dangerous and scary!

5) Set the story somewhere isolated and/or dangerous

6) Have a vulnerable – maybe some kind of medical condition or personal experiences

7) Use figurative language – metaphors, similes and personification to make descriptions vivid and interesting

8) Use a healthy dose of adjectives and adverbs to set the scene

9) Use pathetic fallacy – when environment mirrors tension/conflict in story

10) Use sensory imagery – sight, sound, smell, taste and touch

I don't really know how to explain it, maybe like onomatopoeia? The character just woke from a nightmare...

It's about these twins (Nicholas and Sienna), Sienna disappears somewhere for four years, everyone thinks she's dead (except for Nicholas). One day, he also disappears to the place where Sienna was taken. He's pitied by an old man (wizard in disguise) who takes him in and teaches him simple magic. Sienna comes into the town one day as a commander of a troop, and they reunite (they both have identical necklaces). Nicholas goes with Sienna to live at the palace barracks. News comes that the evil overlord of the mountains is planning something, so they prepare for war. Nicholas learns swordplay and also learns battle magic from the wizard (wizard's a prime healer). That's as far as I got :(
