We noticed the fish started to get fin rot etc so had our water tested and our nitrates and ammonia were high. We have done water changes and added some treatment in the water for the fish. Had the water tested again and all the nitrates etc are are very good now except the ammonia level is still high. Luckily the fish have gotten better now but I really need to get the ammonia level sorted. Before I do another partial water change this week we intend on getting the water tested again. Any tips to get the ammonia down?

Does soya milk taste just as good as normal milk in a cup of tea? Also what is an alternative to butter because I don't like dry toast.

I'm making pumpkin pie for Christmas and I want to put some decoration on it. If I cut some shapes out of the pastry, do I place them on the pie once it's cooked and then put the pie back in the oven for 10 minuets? This is because I don't think they will sit on top of the pie before it's cooked as the mixture is quite runny. Also if I make individual tartlets of pumpkin pie, is there a difference in the time it takes to cook compared to just one big pie?

I have a long tongue and a lisp. Is there anything I can do to make myself sound normal? I feel like people think I'm stupid because of the way I talk even though it isn't that bad. Just can't say 'Sh' or 'G' or 'J' or 'H' or 'ch'. I can say my 's' but my lisp is prominent when I say things like 'sausages' and 'sponge' because of the 'G'. Ive never been singled out because of my lisp and people often say I don't sound too bad but it does upset me when someone I don't even know occasionally mimics me.

My cat is an outdoor cat, he loves to sleep on the garage roof but now it's winter he occasionally sleeps inside. As it's winter my family are giving it a bit of extra food so the cat gains a bit of weight because he's very lean. And it's also so the cold doesn't affect it as much. However will giving it some extra food make any difference and is it actually bad? When it warms up a little it will get it's regular amount of food back.

Basically because I'm stupid and gullible, I've managed to get myself conned and gave the fraudster my home address, full name and date of birth. Ive told the fraudster to leave me alone but has still sent me 2 further emails claiming that he is on his way over to meet me. On top of this I'm worried about what he could do with the details I gave him. I called the police helpline and they said not to worry because Ive not given him my bank account details. I called my bank and they said don't worry because full name and address is public record anyway. Even though they have said this to me I've still paid for a credit check on my banking because I'm worried. I'm scared about other things too and don't feel the police took me seriously. Any advice on what to do next?!?

I put my makeup on as usual but then I always have to put up with eczema on my neck and chest and quite frankly it gets me down! I'm very pale so the eczema is very noticeable. Don't have much money so are there any products out there than I can purchase?

My current balance is more than the available balance in my bank account. Why is that? What is the difference? Ive only noticed this since I've started to do online banking.

It was quite severe and happened 7 hours ago. My nan and mum are urging me to go to the doctors because the feeling hasn't come back in my right hand completely and my neck and upper arms are in pain. But I don't want to look stupid going to the docs and I don't have any burns or anything. Also the feeling might have come back by then. Oh and just to add, it wasn't a little shock is was a big electric shock.

My father is a musician and so has to wear ear monitors that go right into his ears. Consequently it has effected his hearing when listening to radio, music and television because he always has them on loud. He's only in his 40's so very young for this kind of issue I know. I believe some sort of aid will help him just in day to day life so I mentioned a free hearing test that has been advertised but he point blank say's that his hearing is fine when we all know it's not. Yet we all have to put up with a loud radio etc. Tricky situation and I don't want to offend my father but how to you get someone to go for a hearing test?

My male Betta fish (Siamese fighting fish) is acting strangely since I put in my new Platy fish today. The new fish is female and still small. The Betta fish get on fine with the Sword-tail's and the other Platy which is why I thought to buy another Platy. Since I put the new fish in, the Betta fish is bringing out it's fins around it's face and going towards the new Platy until it moves away. I don't know what to do, is it being aggressive or is it attracted to the new fish? I'm worried for the new fish and luckily bought a breeding net just to separate any fish in the future overnight if they don't get along. Need answers PLEASE.

It's a Samsung fridge that isn't cooling the food as well as it should be. The temperature is 1 degree which is the lowest it can go on. It's only stopped being as efficient since a member of the family thoroughly cleaned it. Should we pay out for it being repaired or is it something I can fix?

My family are thinking of moving 3 hours + away from were we currently live. Can fish actually survive that long in a bag? I was thinking of getting a polystyrene box to put the bags into to soften the vibrations of the car ride. I'm worried if this move does happen because Ive not had my fish for long.

This isn't because I want any marine fish,I'm rather content with my freshwater tropical fish but I'm just trying to do some research for future reference. I love the different species of marine tropical fish and would one day like to become an owner of some. What size tank should you ideally buy, how many fish in one tank etc. I am going to buy some books eventually.

Grandma gave me an old 5 gallon aquarium that was in her garage and felt like I couldn't say no to having it. I don't know any fish that are suitable in a 5 gallon tank because fish need space! Should I just get a shrimp and have done with!?
