  • what do you think of Leo Cordero Cahoon?

Im nine days overdue and still dont have a name for this kid!! :)

what do you think of this one? Cahoon is our last name.

the meaning of the name refers to the bible, where it talks about the lion and the lamb. leo means lion and cordero is spanish for lamb.

  • does anyone else feel a little psychic while pregnant?

ok, so last month I dreamed that my friend jessica had just conceived another baby and she came in my dream and told me she was pregnant. when I woke up I just had the strongest feeling that it was really true, and I've been waiting for her to announce it ever since. so, today on facebook she told someone she's expecting in June!

whoa! I knew she was newly pregnant a month ago. strange.

anything like this happened to you while pregnant? Im 37 weeks pregnant. I think being pregnant makes you more intuitive.

  • a good middle name for Leo?

Ive been thinking for months, but I cant figure anything out. I cant even decide how many syllables it should have. our last name has two syllables with the accent on the second. this baby is going to have two middle names because of a family tradition. his second middle name is being chosen by my husband.

Id like something really unusual or even strange for his first middle name because Leo is such a normal name.

  • Tomiko for a non-japanese baby girl?

me and my husband are white. do you think it's stupid to use a japanese name for our daughter? I think the name Tomiko is SO cute sounding, and it doesnt sound VERY obviously japanese to me.

anyway, ethnic names for white kids. what do you think? what if it were a russian or finnish name? we're not russian or finnish, but we're the right skin colour for those names at least! :)

  • Professional negative scanning vs buying a scanner?

I am no photographer, but I have 400+ negatives that I would like to digitize. They are mostly (very) amateur pictures of friends and scenery. A quick look online makes it look like I will be paying at least $200 for this service. Would it be better for me to purchase a scanner and do it myself? I have access to photoshop, though I don't know how to use it very well. I would like to have decent scans with minimal dust/scratches, but I don't need to blow them up to crazy sizes.

    Anyone?

  • What would you like to ask?Anyone have experience getting 3 carseats in a sedan? is it safe?

we have a midsize sedan and I think that when my third baby is born I will be able to get three carseats in the back of it. Im trying to save money by avoiding buying a new vehicle.

my two older kids are in forward facing toddler seats, and the newborn will be in an infant seat where the base is left in the car.

I think that in order to fit all three seats in the back, I will have to cram them together pretty tight and they may be touching the doors of the car. is this dangerous?

if I can buckle them all in tightly and none of the carseats wiggle at all, then is it still dangerous to have them crammed together like that?

  • what do you think of Leo? have you heard of many baby Leos?

I dont know if this baby is boy or girl, but Ive just become obsessed with the name Leo. I think if it's a boy that will be the name. I think most people know that Leo means lion, which is a cool meaning.

what I want to know is: do you think this name is getting popular or that it's overused? I personally do not know any little kids named Leo, but when I named my daughter Averie 3 years ago, I didnt know any other kids called Avery/ie! lol, and we all know how that's gone!

  • should I worry about my sudden lack of morning sickness?

this is my third pregnancy. the first one I was sick for about 13-14 weeks. the second one I was sick until about 17-18 weeks. now I am 12 weeks with my third, and I have suddenly started to feel better for the past three days! I dont feel totally fine, but I feel much less sick than I did last week.

is this a bad sign? can it mean Im going to lose this baby? I know if you totally lose all pregnancy symptoms, it's a sign you may be having a miscarriage. however, is it the same if you just feel "almost normal"?

  • Are the fumes from caulking toxic?

I live in a rental house, and the landlords (grr idiots) just came and replaced all the doors in the house including one in my bedroom that leads to the balcony. they caulked all around the edges with some white caulking stuff and it STINKS!!! it's giving me a headache and making my nausea even worse. I am 10 weeks pregnant, and I have two little kids. is this bad for me to stay here?

I cant really open the windows properly because it's flipping FREEZING here today. like really really cold. I hate this city.

as an aside, I hate my landlords also.

    thanks!

  • how do you feel when someone tells you about homebirth?

hi everyone! I am really passionate about natural birth and the ability of most women to give birth without intervention. most of my friends are hospital birth and epidural devotees (I understand that viewpoint, because my first baby was an epidural hosptial birth and it had a lot of positive aspects).

anyway, Im well educated about birth because I read and read and Im really interested in learning about it. I love hearing all my friends stories and thinking about them. however, I find that when I give my opinion or tell my story, many women feel like Im trying to be "better than them" or some kind of macho know it all.

how do you feel when someone tells you that they had a painless homebirth? or that most c sections are unnecessary? or that induction is a bad idea? these things are all facts, but they seem to get a negative reaction from a lot of people.

Id like to understand what goes on inside your head for those of you who feel angry at the idea that someone else had a positive birth experience.

here's a link to a good birth story. it's not mine, but it's good :)

  • how hot does water have to be to make good tea?

when Im home I use boiling water to brew my tea, but I just bought a travel tea brewer, and if you use boiling water, the steam makes jets of water spew out from under the lid. ouch.

can I use just hot water from the tap, or will that leave all the tea-goodness locked into the leaves?

  • have you made a long distance move without visiting your new town?

we're moving across the country in two months to a place we have never been and where we have no family or friends. it's a small town we're going to, so it's nearly impossible to find classified ads for house rentals online. has anyone else done this? I really dont want to have to live in a hotel with two toddlers. the town we're going to is called Deep River, Ontario (canada).

  • dont you think it rocks that michelle obama hugged the queen?

I think it's fantastic. the obamas make such an impression on everyone they meet, even the queen broke a strict no-touchee protocol to give michelle some love.

  • I THINK it's positive!!?

it's still three days before my expected period, but I did a test that says it's good for up to four days before your period. I think it may be positive, but if it is, then it's the faintest line EVER! here's my question: have you ever been so hopeful that you actually hallucinated a positive test? like, have you stared so hard at a pregnancy test willing it to be positive that you've convinced yourself that it might be?? lol. Im nuts.
