The Fisherman's sister, daughter of the Big White Wolf, niece of the Goddess of Dusk and of the Prince of the Northern Dominion. But everybody tells me that I look like my fourth degree cousin Shannon.
"If you do deed X, something awfully nasty is going to happen to you". Free will?
I mean, if even this kind of contract is said to grant Free Will / Free Choice, then what could still possibly deny it?...
(of course, this is a Tree of Knowledge question)
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCould you write a very short story using the following religion-related words...?
"sky", "pink", "rapture", "evil", "suddenly"
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWas the Tree of Knowledge God's way to tempt Adam and Eve?
That's what some people have answered at one of my previous Tree questions.
TEMPT?! Who, the Christian God?!
:D
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDid the Christian God know what's going to happen with Adam, Eve and the Tree?
If yes, ...then how did that free will thing function? I mean if he knew what they *will* do, how were they not bound by some kind of fate?
I come to you and tell you "you'll wake up tomorrow at precisely 11:32 AM". And I know what I'm talking about. Would that make you feel that you are free like a bird to choose your own path in life?...
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAnd anyway, what was the Tree doing in the garden of Heaven?
Who needed it?
God couldn't have needed it. He was already omniscient.
The humans were not allowed to eat from eat.
The angels, perhaps? Though I seriously doubt it.
Or was it perhaps in the "endangered species!" area?
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSo how were Adam and Eve supposed to know that...?
...disobeying God was wrong, since they had no notion of right and wrong?
You do have to be able to tell one from the other in order to understand the meaning of "command" and "obey".
And anyway, how can you punish somebody who didn't know that what they were doing was wrong when they did it. Especially since they *couldn't* have known it.
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoATHEISTS! How do you make sure that....?
...you'll be able to get up on time tomorrow morning? I mean, I do seem to not hear my alarm clock at crucial moments, no matter what I do...
Ah wait, and a spiritual thing: how fast can you get out of the house once you've realised that you didn't wake up when you should have? (I mean from the "ah $hit $hit $hit!!!" moment until you're out)
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHey Atheists, what if we actually *do* go to Hell?
...Would the punishment appear in the form of a sneering Believer telling us every 5 minutes "I TOLD YOU SO!!!!" ..?
:D
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat if God is not omniscient...?
...and you find Him in Heaven listening avidly to various stories told by various humans, while exclaiming from time to time "No way!!" or "Come on, that couldn't have been Me!"?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHe condemns me. And then He saves me...?
...and all this, without me even having been born. So I wake up and, immediately, I find myself wronged by some ancestor, and then indebted to another one. Honestly, I wish they had asked me first...
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoPoll: what is your religious belief (or lack thereof), and...?
...could you imagine changing it, at some point in the future? If yes, what would it be then?
(Me, I'm an agnostic, or an unhappy atheist :D.
I can imagine becoming a believer of some sort - most likely a Christian, but Buddhism or Shinto are also a possibility. Of course, I might just as well become a happy atheist :D)
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat if there were a god out there, but not the one you were expecting?
(...or, instead of nothing, as you were expecting)
Would you sigh in resignation and get ready to go straight to hell (or hell-like place)?
Would it scare the living daylights out of you?
Would it surprise the living daylights out of you?
Would you just go to him and say "yo man, so what was this all bout?!"?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat dreadful thing should I do to my old wicked (computer) mouse?
So, the situation is like this. I had this very, very dysfunctional mouse, and I had kept on forgetting (or being too lazy) to buy a new one for a long, loooong time. After the said long, loooong sufferance, today I have finally convinced myself that I DO NEED ANOTHER MOUSE (again, it's a device with buttons I'm talking about, not a living creature), and I got myself a new one. The thing is, what horrible revenge should I take for the misery caused by that old wicked mouse? Give me some distructive ideas, please.
("it wasn't the mouse's fault!" won't do. *It was* precisely the mouse's fault)

9 AnswersOther - Hardware1 decade ago"very short story", 4th edition: the Wild West?
Please write a short western-style story involving "lonely / alone", "cigarette", "hot noon" (you can make it "high" too - kind regards to Gary Cooper) and, somehow unavoidable given the context, "whiskey-smelling breath".
Not necessarily more than (approx) 7-8-9 lines in the compose box.
Please, don't just build up a sentence / some sentences with those expressions, try to make it coherent, in the form of a story (or a fragment of a story). The best one will be the most melancholical or funny one. You can even make it western-style in a SF context - you can do lots of things, so let it flow.
(sigh - if I could only answer my own questions...)
2 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agocould you write a very short and weird story...?
involving "house", "North / Northern", "3 o'clock" (noon / evening, as thou wishest) and "sinister grin". Not more than (approx) 7-8-9 lines in the compose box.
...But don't just build up a sentence / some sentences with those expressions, please make it coherent, in the form of a story (or a fragment of a story). The best one will be the strangest one.

4 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade ago"very short story" strikes back. Ready?
write a very short story involving "white", "snow", "true" and "if and only if". Not more than (approx) 7-8-9 lines in the compose box.
But don't just build up a sentence with those expressions (certainly not because this were impossible :D , but because I want a story)
