How can I make this career change - Marketing/Admin to Fine Arts?
I've been through 4 years of university and gained a bachelors degree in marketing and management communication after 2 (almost 3) years working in the industry, I've found that I rather passionately dislike marketing!
So for the last couple of years I've really just been bumming around working in odd admin jobs that are seriously unchallenging and uninspiring. To make up for it I've taken up art again and spend a lot of my spare time painting and sketching and am spending more time learning about the arts... I really enjoy it.
So what I've been thinking for a while is how I could make a career change into the art industry. I really like the idea of working in a gallery or something along those lines where I could be more exposed to other artists and events in the art world.
Is there a way I can do this? Without having to go back to school or beg for work?! I'm earning good money in what I'm doing, I'm also a bit worried about a major pay cut and how that would affect my current lifestyle. But then again I guess money isn't everything?!
Any feedback, tips or experiences you might have would be really great to hear!
Thanks for your help :)
PS - Here's some of my work from the last couple of years if you're interested http://kylaart.com/gallery
1 AnswerOther - Visual Arts1 decade agoCan you learn airbrushing skills with spray paint?
I've been wanting to learn how to airbrush but I'm a bit reluctant to invest in the equipment on a whim...
So I was thinking if you were able to develop your skills with spray paint could that possible translate into airbrushing skills?
4 AnswersPainting1 decade agoWhat's the best way to make a stencil?
I'm working on canvas but I want to give my painting a bit of a graffiti feel... I was thinking of spray painting over top but I want to use a stencil, just not too sure the best way to do it. I'm really wanting clean crisp lines and my previous attempts have gotten smudged around the edges.
Any advice would be awesome! thnx
5 AnswersDrawing & Illustration1 decade agoIs there any use in creating a Deviant Art page?
I'm working on establishing myself as an artist and as a part of that I'm trying to get my work more 'out there' online... I was wondering if there is much point in setting up a deviant art page to display my work? I've quite often browsed other peoples pages, and enjoy looking at other people's work but would there be much point in establishing my own?
I've got my own website www.kylaart.com but I'd also like to make images of my work more accessible. Any ideas or advice you have would be great!
