  • I Require Some Assistance With Understanding The Bible?

Ok, so I know that God sent Jesus to die for our sins, but exactly how does that work? I mean, how does one die for sins? Can I sacrifice a rabbit to stop climate change? And, if he died for our sins, why can we still make them/why should we feel guilty about them. Does Jesus' act not make feeling guilty for our sins like me feeling like I'm taking advantage of Netflix for watching something despite having this month's subscription paid for? Is the whole thing made null and void by the fact that he essentially cheated, not only did he come back from death, but he also apparently was better off after, so what exactly was the downside for him?

Also, did God actually write the Bible, and if he did, why the hell are there any contradictions? It seems to me that if an all-powerful, Omnipotent God wrote a book, it would have a fairly well thought out plot line, fairly consistent, not many holes, but apparently not.

Also, if Jesus' death opened up the Kingdom of God, then what happened to everyone that died before that? Did they go to Hell, were they just sitting around in Purgatory waiting? Did God freeze them in cryo-tubes? Were Moses and Noah just sitting there in Purgatory thinking 'well this is ****, what's wrong with him why can't he just make a ******* son already'.

Also, why would God choose to make Eve out of Adam's rib? Surely there's a better source of stem cells than a bone, assuming of course he used stem cells which really makes the most sense, again though, if he was all powerful why not just make her like he did with Adam? And why is it called an Adam's apple if Eve took the first bite? Also why the hell did God let the devil into the garden of evil? You'd figure he could just stop that from happening. And why was there even a tree of knowledge in the first place if it was literally just there to not be used? Also, if the fruit gave Adam and Eve free will, then before eating it they didn't have any, so surely they shouldn't be punished for doing what the snake told them to do if they had no free will to do otherwise.

    Anyway, thanks for your time.

  • Is it easier to be an Atheist or a Christian?

So following a rather awkward conversation with several Catholic family members about my Atheism in which I was informed 'It'd easier to be an Atheist, you don't have to explain anything', I am torn between hysterics and annoyance, and I'd just like to ask, what do people on either side think about this? Which do you think is easier to be in modern society overall?

  • A Question For Theists?

Hello, I'm Lorcan and I believe that the Earth is 4000 years old and was created as a breeding ground by the Evil Space Monkeys of Glankor Seven. However, during the intergalactic war of the monkeys someone accidentally pushed a button that made us all lose our hair and become stupider than our great cosmic makers, and simultaneously created a breed of ultra-stupid Earth monkeys, and our minds were wiped. Then a magical crocodile by the name of Zupoo came to Earth and told people of the greatness that was the Third Space Monkey Empire. It was then that the Evil Monkeys attacked and so Zupoo sacrificed himself to save us, but came back three light years later (because in my religion they represent time not distance) to say that it was okay and that we would live forever in magical monkey crocodile land if we pledged allegiance to the Ultra Sexy Monkey Emperor Gerp the Thirteenth. Of course, I was the only witness but I wrote it all down in a book so it's cool.

My challenge is this; give me one method of disproving this religion that can't also be used to disprove yours.

  • Theist Logic- does it exist?

Human beings are obviously the product of intelligent design, how could we not be? What do you mean who created God no-one did he isn't the work of intelligent design don't be ridiculous.

Gay people shouldn't be allowed to marry, so says the bible, now I'm going to put on my linen/wool mixed fabric clothing and go eat animals with hooves.

God can't stop people from doing bad things because he gave us free will so he can't interfere, now if you'll excuse me I have to go ask him to help me with stuff.

Disclaimer: Not all of them are like this.

But seriously, when will you people drown in your own bullshit and hypocrisy?

Why doesn't he just erase Satan from existence?

  • How many main characters is too many?

I'm currently doing world building for a series of fantasy novels, I have a basic plot in mind but I've gone into quite a bit of detail in the world and feel like I would need a lot of main characters to fully explore the world. I've already thought of about 10 and could easily have 10 more by the time I'm done building the world (I'm talking proper main characters, I have way more side characters as well). I wouldn't plan to use them all in the first book, but I still fear that it could become over complicated at its current rate. Can anybody advise me on this, and would it be better to reduce the size or detail of some parts of my world or just leave them unexplored in the story? Would it work if I only introduced 5-6 per book?

  • Should Missions Be Banned?

I put this question to both atheists and theists, as I know people from both 'sides' can be capable of rational thought. As we are all aware, people go on religious missions to other countries (usually third world countries full of impressionable people in need of help) and help but also try to convert them. Do you think this is fair? If you are a theist why does it matter how many people believe in your God? Is it morally right to only offer help to someone in need if you are also trying to shove religion down their throats? Do you think that people should help other humans out of a wanting to help other humans alone, not having some ulterior motive to convert as many people who will probably believe anything you tell them due to a lack of proper education?

  • Don't you think it's ironic?

How in some churches, Catholic, for example, the priests say homosexuality is unnatural and that we are here to make new humans despite being celibate themselves, which is even more unnatural and just as unlikely to produce more people?

Also, a question for people who believe it is unnatural, why is homosexuality found in almost 50 species of animal, but homophobia is only found in one? Now which seems unnatural?

  • Best Website Creator for an MMO Guild?

I'm looking to make a guild for the upcoming Elder Scrolls Online, and I want to make a Guild Website to organise events, make announcements and allow people to sign up etc. I haven't any coding skills and just want to use a free creator as the guild will be small enough. What's the best free website creator for guild sites?

  • Are these parts compatible?

Would all of these parts work together in a gaming PC?

ASUS (ecx-Pla-UK-37254810) ATX AMD 990X motherboard

AMD Phenom II X4965 Black Edition 3.4 GHz AM3 socket 6MDL3 cache 125W Processor

    AMD XFX Radeon HD 7870 (FX-787A-CNFC) 2048MB PCIe x16 Gen 3.0 GPU

Arctic cooling freezer 7 pro rev. 2

Corsair gaming series 2013 edition 700W 80+ Bronze ATX PSU

Seagate 1TB Barracuda Internal Hard Drive

Komputerbay 8GB 1600MHz single stick RAM

If not can you recommend a replacement in roughly the same price range? Also, if anyone knows of a way to download a free Linux operating system straight onto the computer once it's built without having to buy another operating system's disk to download the free software from the Internet that would be helpful too.

  • Gaming PC motherboard and operating system?

    Two noob questions here, I've decided to build a gaming PC and the components I'm hoping to add are;

    AMD Phenom IIX4965 3.4GHz socket AM3 6MDL3 cache 125W processor

    AMD Radeon HD7870 GPU

Arctic cooling freezer 7 pro rev. 3

Corsair Gaming Series 2013 edition, 700 watt, 80+Bronze ATX PSU

Seagate 1TB Barracuda Internal Hard Drive

Komputerbay 8GB 1600 MHz single stick RAM

So my question is what motherboard and case should I use for this setup?

Also, I want to start the PC on a free Linux os, but I'm not sure if this is possible or do I need to start with a paid disk?

Noob questions I know, but thanks

  • Route to becoming a game designer?

I want to be a game designer, I'd especially like to work on MMOs, and I'm wondering what the best route is, i.e. A-Levels, University etc. I'd rather not have to do a lot of programming but focus on the design side (creating characters, quests, props etc).
