Who supplied our carbon monoxide detector?? (England)?
Hi there - silly question maybe. A couple of years ago we were sent a carbon monoxide detector. I could swear it was sent by our gas & electricity supplier (npower). Now the battery has run out and apparently when that happens, the whole device must be replaced. I contacted npower and they said they have no record of sending it to us. Anyone else had one sent to them? Who could have sent it??
Thanks in advance!
3 AnswersOther - Home & Garden9 years agoShould I watch the movie 'Orphan'?
I am 13, but very adult-ish. I know it's rated 15. I read everything bout it on IMDb (including the parents' guide) and I would be OK with watching it. I have watched horror movies before, I am not easily disturbed, read horror books and I never have nightmares. My mom is totally against me watching it, but my dad is OK with it. What should I do?

2 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoWhy is Father Christman called Santa?
Santa means Saint (female) in Spanish, so it makes no sense to call a MALE saint 'Santa'. Why not 'San', which is the MALE saint?
3 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoWhat name would you give to a fictional Witch?
I am writing a story.
The Witch is a modern day witch. She is 15. She is a bit boyish and tough but empathetic and nice.
What names do you suggest?
(Please no 'Sabrina' suggestions!)

I just swallowed a lot of gum. For fun, I decided to chew an entire pack (nine sticks) and then I accidently swallowed it. What do I do? And now my stomach hurts... by the way, please don't answer if you're just gonna call me an idiot, 'cos I know that already.

I feel REALLY furious about someone. (I'm not going to tell you what). It's not anyone's fault. But I feel furious. I feel like I want to destroy the laptop I'm typing on right now. How do I stop myself taking my anger out on other people?
6 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoIs "Graffitied" a word?
On Microsoft Word, it keeps telling me that "Graffitied" is not a word. "Graffitied" as is someone doing graffiti.
How can it not be a word? If Microsoft wrong? Am I spelling "Graffitied" wrong?
2 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoHow could there have been nothing before the big bang (assuming there was a big bang)?
I just can't wrap my head around it. WHAT is nothing? How could there have been nothing, since there is always something? You might say that there would have been no particles, but then what created the big bang?
For example, you want to make a chicken sandwich? You need chicken and bread. But how do you make a chicken sandwich without the ingredients? Answer: You can't.
So how can the big bang have happened?
7 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoEgyptian users of the Egypt section of YA: Why don't you create a Yahoo group?
This is just a friendly question/suggestion - please don't take it otherwise.
I'm relatively new to Yahoo answers and have occasionally answered questions on the Egypt section. I could instantly feel the friendly atmosphere here and how the same faces keep popping up again and again - but I also couldn't help noticing how irrelevant so many (most?) questions are to the topic of Egypt and how puzzled many answerers were ("what does that question have to do with Egypt?" is a typical question).
Despite the entertaining nature of some Qs and As, doesn't this actually defeat the purpose of YA and distract from the relevant questions?
My suggestion is therefore to create a Yahoo group to discuss anything you like. The advantage is that you can actually DISCUSS with each other endlessly, get to know each other better, find and archive each others questions more easily etc.. There are in fact already thousands of Egypt groups, so you may even find it easier to join an existing group.
10 AnswersEgypt1 decade agoAnyone else sick of the amount of kissing/dating on kids' tv shows??
I have 3 kids aged 10, 8 and 5 - who (esp the older two) love TV shows like Zack & Cody, That's so Raven, High school musical etc .
I find them mostly harmless and funny, but I can't help noticing that almost every single episode there has to be an instance of kids kissing each other (in the case of "The suite life" they're not even teens yet). And more often than not the story revolves around how terrible it is not to have a girl-/boyfriend, and how great it is to have one.
Now I don't think I'm so conservative but why do kids (and these shows are obviously addressed at kids 8-12) need to see this all the time? What message is this giving them? The sooner you have a boy-/girlfriend the better? And don't forget to kiss on every occasion? Without these shows, this would be the last thing on their minds, but I'm not so sure anymore.
I don't want to suddenly ban certain shows without explanation. Should I talk to them about it? What's the right thing to say? Or should I be more relaxed?
4 AnswersFamily1 decade agoWhat is a nice, family-friendly neighbourhood to live in in London?
We may be moving from Devon to London soon (myself, hubby, 3 kids). We only go to London for short sightseeing/shopping visits so we really don't know much about London's boroughs/ areas. Where would be a nice neighbourhood to move to, not too expensive, not working class, no council houses, nice schools, leafy if possible... Some first pointers would be very helpful. Thanks!
