I yelled at another person's child after he hurt and laughed at my daughter. Now what?
A 9 year old boy chased and hurt my 10 year old daughter at a friend's house. I did not know the boy and his parents were not present. He started laughing when she cried so I went to talk to him. His response was to snicker at me. This got me very angry and I yelled at him. He snickered more. I put my hand on his chest to try and get him to listen. Eventually I walked away. His parents are livid and accusing me of assault. I regret engaging with the child and I know I shouldn't touch him. The boy is now saying I held him by the throat (I didn't). I called Dr. Laura today saying I know I was 100% in the wrong and she disagreed with me. She said if it were here she'd have slapped the child! She said he's probably going to grow up to be a rapist because he thinks it's funny to hurt girls and make them cry. She said he showed me such disrespect and his reaction to smirk and snicker was sociopathic. She says I did nothing wrong. I still regret it and it's eating at me. I've apologized to the family and taken responsibility. They are legitimately upset and I am very remorseful. Still, I can't get it out of my head and I don't know how to move on or what more I can do and would love advice.

3 AnswersSingles & Dating6 years agoHow old is too old for a car seat?
My ex-husband has my almost 10 year old, 60lb daughter in a huge car seat (not a booster...a full child car seat) in his Mini Cooper. According to NC State laws she's allowed to be in a seat belt only. Is it still safe to be in a car seat? Does it provide more protection than the seat belt alone? My understanding is that the car seat gets them into the right position for the car's seat belt to be effective, so if the child is technically the size for the car's seat belt to work properly, is the car seat providing more protection or is it redundant? She's squished and uncomfortable in that small car as it is! What would you do?
7 AnswersSafety7 years agoWhat's the deal with men and redheads?
I'm a natural redhead...40...sorta 3/4 Julianne Moore and 1/4 Meryl Streep. Who cares...it's been normal for me for my whole life. But for some guys it's clear that they see redheads as different than blonds or brunettes...like a fetish almost. Why? What's the appeal? I'm a professional in the health care industry, consistently clad in Ann Taylor suits (i.e. not Jessica Rabbit). I'm just curious, when men see a redhead, what's the deal? The stereotype? Just wondering.
2 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender10 years agoHow can I cancel my Money Merge Account?
I fell for the United First Financial Money Merge Account presentation but it does not work for me at all because it doesn't link to my accounts or quicken and I'm just not using it. When I signed up I felt I had nothing to lose because they said there was a money back guarantee. I come to find out that it's if the software fails to do what it says it will (pay down debt in a fraction of the time) but you have to follow the instructions carefully everyday or your void your guarantee.
I'm stuck with paying almost $100/mo for more than 3 more years, which will also result in an additional $1,000 in interest in addition for the payments for the software. Does anyone know any loopholes or have any advice on how I can get out of this contract and either get my money back or stop paying from this point forward??
I appreciate any advice.
1 AnswerPersonal Finance1 decade agoCanadian Capital Gains Tax for American selling property in Canada?
I am a 25% owner of a family property in Canada that will likely see a $600k ore more capital gains. I'm a dual Canadian/American citizen living in the US. What would the capital gains tax be and would I also be taxed again by the IRS when I bring my profit to the US? Does the fact that I have dual citizenship come into play (favorably or unfavorably)? I've lived in the US for 15 years.
3 AnswersCanada1 decade agoWhat can un-friended people see in Facebook?
1. I unfriended someone.
2. He then blocked me
3. A couple of months later he unblocked me (but we're not friends)
4. My profile is public, his is private...totally locked down
5. He just showed up in my news feed as having become a fan of something (his fan pages are public as they appear to be for everyone on FB).
Why did he show up in my news feed? Also, since my profile is public, do I show up in his news feed or would he have to go to my profile to see activity?
