How do you pronounce the name "Goffine"?
To be more precise, it is a name of a Catholic writer, a Premonstratensian monk, Leonard Goffine, born in Cologne in 1648 (died in 1719), who wrote "Instructions on the Epistles and Gospels" in 1690. The original title was simply "A Manual". Thanks for any help.

1 AnswerOther - Diseases1 decade agoHow does one convert a PDF file made with Finale (2006) to a .doc file?
I have tried to do this, only to get a jumble of letters where there should be lines of music. I should mention that the PDF is made from many PDF files (using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro) when I attempt to convert it with both an online service or any program. Thanks for any help.
3 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoTo what extent is anti-Catholicism against the law?
If it is not against the law as both form of discrimination and of defamation, how does one go about changing the law? Other forms of defamation/discrimination are illegal today like antisemitism or racial/ethnic discrimination and rhetoric, but not does not seemingly apply to anti-Catholicism. Why would this be today? Thanks.
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhy do some persons have such a difficult time with mathematics?
Why do some persons, although they are perfectly fine with many other academic disciplines, and even possess a high IQ, have an almost impossible time with understanding some mathematical applications? I am not actually speaking of simple addition and subtractions, but math applications that begin with algebra and higher.
I understand that Einstein had problems, but still did what he did. That fact alone is perplexing in itself.
Is it a brain function that is not functioning properly? Is it the idea of numbers themselves as being abstract? Is it a perception problem?
Thanks for any thoughts.

We have commonly heard of those who cannot recognize letters. Could this apply to numbers, as well? What clinical explanation is usually accepted as to what dyslexia is?
1 AnswerPsychology1 decade agoWhat does the word "image" mean in Gen. 1: 27?
Does it mean that man "looks" like God and vice-versa, or that God "imagined" the form of man much like an artist would create form in a sculpture or painting?
Obviously this question is very open to personal bible interpretation, which should be avoided. The entire idea of actually attempting to know this may actually be impossible and beyond our actual understanding.
I am looking more at the wording aspects of the scholarship of the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek sources here. Try to give reliable sources, if possible.
Source of scripture is the Latin Vulgate:
Et creavit Deus hominem ad imaginem suam;
ad imaginem Dei creavit illum;
masculum et feminam creavit eos.
God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them.

11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow is IQ determined?
I realize it is a test, although I have always noticed the questions to be rather trivial in nature. How does one go about finding a legitimate test online for free? Most offers seem to be gimmicks that want you to purchase something ( which insults the intelligence, rather than measures it) and how do they know the IQ of a historical person, if no standard was known at that time? What is the case for an idiot savant who exhibits genius, but has a supposed low IQ level?

NOTE: The answers are to be used for part of a religious social studies research project on the question. Read the question very carefully before answering. Name or ID will not be published, but the answer will be. Read the question very carefully before answering. Thank you for your help.

2 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoWhy Does Anti-Catholicism Exist?
Please stay within the scope of Anti-Catholicism and reasons (other than ignorance) as why the sentiment exists in society. Avoid personal opinion and give me real facts. Consider the question more as it would pertain to history. Scripture may also be cited, but be sure to provide reliable references (evidence and proof), and not just personal scriptural interpretations.
Note: The question may be too broad for a real "answer", and too philosophical in nature (which would make it unanswerable), but any respectful and informative considerations will be appreciated.
Be respectful of others' beliefs/cultures when posting (you know who you are).

4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat does "Pray Without Ceasing" Mean to You?
St. Paul exhorts us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to pray without ceasing. Realistically, this is humanly impossible, but there are other ways that it is practiced in a practical way in everyday living . How do you "pray without ceasing"? Does he simply mean the act of not giving up prayer in general, or of literal continual prayer? Give me some inspiring and intelligent answers and remember to be courteous to others.
