Just an ordinary guy, with some extraordinary beliefs.

  • Would Salvia show up on a drug test, hair or urine?

My work is doing some extensive drug testing on it's employees and for good reason but I've been doing Salvia for awhile now but only on my days off. So I'm curious what tests Salvia shows up on, if any. Thanks.

  • Why should we get rid of Under God?

I know it's unconstitutional and it wasn't like that in the original but who does it hurt?

God is mostly a generalized term for a higher power in a religion and if you don't believe in God it shouldn't phase you in the slightest. It it would be like saying or reading "under Superman." So how is it harmful to anyone?

BTW before anyone answers with another "what if it said 'under Allah?'" Frankly it could say just about anything as long as it's not mocking someone in the process and I wouldn't care. (Again, no need to post another "what if it said 'God is a fairy tale'" since the religious bunch would find that offensive)

  • Atheists, why do you waste time?

To a believer, they believe they will have another life after they die however you guys know that nothing comes after this life. So I must ask, why are you here wasting your time knowing how short your life is on this planet?

  • What do I do with a pet's remains after it dies?

I've always live out in the country or on a family owned piece of land where I could bury the animal after it dies but now I live in the city and I just want to know what to do when this inevitability happens. My pets are fine but I don't to be scrambling around trying to find out what to do right after it happens, when I'm not thinking straight. Thanks.

  • If you apply to a college and it accepts you, how long does the acceptance last?

For example if I apply to a 4 year college and I'm accepted but wont have the money to go to it by the time the new school year rolls around, will I still be accepted a year later? (as long as nothing has changed academically or has only gotten better) Or do I have to reapply again the following year or until I'm certain I will have enough money to go there?

    Thanks

  • Gays, would you accept a marriage bill that lets you get married but gives churches the right to say no?

I'm trying to find a common ground on the whole gay marriage thing, from people I know (not everyone's opinion just from my observations) most religious people don't want gay marriage to happen because of the fear of ruining their religion or just doing blatantly blasphemous stuff in their place of worship. So the whole thing with kissing each other at the end of the ceremony would be really offensive to them in their church. So I asked my gay friends and they simply said they don't want to get hitched in a church, they aren't part of the religion and have no need to spend a happy day of their lives in a place where they are highly disliked. Now with this in mind, if we add on something to the gay marriage bill letting churches decide if they are willing to hold same sex marriage ceremonies at their place of worship it seems that everyone will get what they want out of this. Gays get all the benefits of being married and the religious bunch wont have to worry about gays "ruining" their religions since the will go to a church were it's not allowed.

So I'm just curious would you be for or against letting churches deny holding same sex wedding ceremonies on their grounds but still having marriage of same sex couple become legal?

Or if this doesn't work for you, what are some common grounds to help legalize it? Since it's obvious it wont be legalized by general acceptance currently and we all know how Americans get when the government forces them to accept something. (like what happened in California)

  • Why are people so protective of Obama?

I've never seen people be this defensive when it comes to a president. Anytime someone makes a joke about him or his politics everyone seems to come to defense damning the person making the joke in the first place. Kind of like CNN's fact checker of SNL's skits about him and how people are practically offended by their skit about the conference in China. So it make's me wonder, why are people so protective of Obama's image that many can't take a joke about him?

I mean every president in thelast 30 years has been made fun of in some way and no one seemed to be offended so why are people so protective of him?

  • Gays if I asked you to please not to talk about your personal life at work around me would you take offense?

Now let's say I'm a very christian person but don't push my beliefs or anything like that. Though to have you talk about your personal life around me does make me uncomfortable. So i just ask you to please refrain from talking about it around me, would you take offense?

BTW I'm not one of those people who will walk into a break room while you're talking about your personal life and expect you to stop but if you come into my work area or space, then I'd rather you not talk about it.

Also this is a scenario, not actually me so don't get too worked about it.

  • Blackface, does it offend you? What if they apply to look like a person not just a race? Is it still wrong?

There's been a lot of talk about blackface in the media recently (the Australian TV show, people dressing in it for Halloween, ect). So I'm just curious how you feel about it? Is it offensive to you? Why? Also, is it still offensive if they wear it to emulate a certain individual or character? (like dressing up to look like 50 Cent the rapper not Curtis James the person.)

  • What's your opinion on nudity in playboy vs nudity in movies?

I read an article earlier about Joanna Krupa posing for playboy and her questioning why feminists are in an uproar when someone poses for the magazine vs being in a sex scene or being in nude in a movie. So I was wondering what's you're opinion on it? Is it fair for people to judge someone so harshly for posing in playboy vs being nude in a movie? Why?

  • Would you kill off an entire race of peaceful beings in order to keep the human race from going extinct?

Let's say the human race will be extinct in 2 months (by our own doing) but we have found a habitable planet much like our own. The only problem is that the air is poisonous to us and there is a large number of humanoids on the planet. However we have built a device that would "clean" the air of the entire planet, so that it's very safe and breathable for us. The only downside to doing this is that well will kill every humanoid on the planet since the air we breath is poisonous to them. We don't have enough time to find another planet and even though the humanoids have shown no hostility towards us, we do not have the time to communicate with them properly.

So we either set the device on the planet killing every humanoid or we go extinct. What's your vote and why did you come to this conclusion?

Put a little thought into it but not too much since there is only so much information one can get in the time allotted.

This question was asked in my class the other day and we actually got into a very heated debate over this, so I'm just curious what you would do in this situation.

  • Anyone have any tips to treating mosquito bites?

Got eaten alive by the damn things and my back, arm, and ear (worst one lol) and they are driving me nuts. Anyone have any tips on treating them, like getting the swelling to go down or getting them to be a little less itchy?

Big thanks for any helpful answers.

  • Is it weird that I prefer to be alone rather than be around people I like?

After spending a summer mostly by myself I went ahead and signed up for classes at the local JC and I've noticed I really prefer being alone than being around people. There is nothing wrong with them and I like them but I would rather be alone than be with people I like. Even old friends of mine, if I had a choice to spend time with them or be by myself I'd rather spend my time alone. Now I'm human so of course I desire some social contact every now and then so I usually strike up a conversation at a bar, hitch a ride on a bus, or even just say hello to a random stranger. However I don't desire that often and I'm just curious if this is something I should look into or am I just thinking too much of it?

  • Do you think anyone can teach religion without being a bit one sided?

Like I would love for teens to learn about the various religions in the world but I think it would be extremely hard to find a person who isn't going to be one sided on the subject at the end of the day. So I am curious do you think anyone would be able to teach about religion without being a bit one sided or expressing their personal beliefs to their students?
