Reading, writing, and selling stuff on eBay. Someday I'm gonna pack up my best friend and my cat and head for the West Coast.

  • I'm looking for good werewolf novels?

    Not romance.

I'm looking for books similar to the Teen Wolf television series on MTV, where the werewolves deal more with werewolf problems than their interspecies relationship. I don't mind if romantic relationships are a part of the plot, but I'm more interested in the culture/trials of being a werewolf.

I hated Twilight and the half of the Anita Blake novel I read. Blood and Chocolate was...eh, okayish.

However, I LOVED By These Ten Bones by Clare B Dunkle. I don't think it was ever explicitly stated that he was a werewolf, but it was the same idea either way.

I'd rather the novels not have vampires in them; I'm just interested in the werewolves.

  • Recommend to me good self-published ebooks on the Kindle store?

I'm interested in reading some self-published novels, but it's a bit hard to find good ones when you're stuck aimlessly wading through pages of the Kindle store. If you've found something worthwhile, I'd be interested in reading it. Genre isn't important as long as it isn't plain old romance, though I do favor fantasy, scifi, and horror.

You can recommend your own work, but I'd rather you list books you've read, not written.

I already have all of Steven J Pemberton's books on my list.

  • Tips for running with asthma?

I haven't done much running in the past seven or so years because I've exercise-induced asthma, which causes me to have an attack almost as soon as I start running. It was so frustrating that I simply stopped trying.

However, I've been trying to get myself into better shape over the past year, and my next step is "relearning" how to run. I'm not in exceptional shape to begin with, but I'm not overweight and am perfectly capable of pushing myself.

I don't currently have a rescue inhaler because I've taken to avoiding activities that will give me attacks. I intend to get a new prescription before I start going to the gym.

  • My cat seems to love me more when I'm in the bathroom?

My cat Ziva is a little over a year old, and for as long as we've had her (since she was eight weeks), she's liked us best when we're trying to use the toilet.

Ziva is not a cuddly cat, never has been. She dislikes being held; attempting to pet her usually results in her biting or running away; and if she wants to hang out with us, she sleeps on a blanket or piece of discarded clothing near us rather than on our laps. However, as soon as I go into the bathroom, she wants in. If she can't open the door, she paws at it until I let her in. Once she's in, she rubs all over my legs, demands to be petted, and often jumps up on my lap. It's a little awkward, but I let her do it because it's the only time she's the cuddly cat I thought she was when we brought her home. As soon as I leave the bathroom, she's back to being the same aloof kitty she usually is.

She is our only pet. We try to give her lots of attention, but she doesn't want it (unless we're trying to poo). She's always been curious about what we do in the bathroom, but she isn't like this when I'm brushing my teeth or getting in the shower.

Is there something I can do to redirect this behavior, or this is just a Ziva-specific quirk I have to live with? I don't mind, but my mother is pretty disturbed about the whole thing, haha.

  • Could you recommend some good online critique groups?

I'm trying really hard to improve my writing, but I know I won't get anywhere without some good, constructive feedback. I've always wanted to join a critique group, but I've no idea where to start. Can anyone recommend some online groups for me to try?

As a side note, I'm not looking for writing sites like Wattpad or Fictioinpress. They won't provide the kind of feedback I need to improve.
