Should Yahoo Sell Out to Microsoft?
Honestly, I don't think Yahoo should even court the idea of selling out to anyone, most specially not to Microsoft. The possibility that Yahoo and Google worked together to dump MS into the garbage bin, if true, was a good one. Selling out to MS or to anyone is not an option. What do you think?

Are you predestined to win? have you ever won anything BIG in your life? Regardless of what you do, you don't seem to win. Why do you think that is?

5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs there really a need to undergo a drug and urine test to secure a Philippine driver's license?
Drug and urine tests can be manipulated, and those drug testing offices that do the testing can also be paid off. Is this really a practical and wise solution to curb accidents on the road? As many have said over the years, drug testing at the LTO is a "cash cow" of government. Useless and waste of tax payers money.
The increase in road accidents is caused primarily by DRUNK DRIVERS. If you visit any major PNP office in Metro-Manila you will find that most road accidents involved drug drivers. What is the (PNP) doing about it? Nothing! You don't get arrested for drunk driving in the Philippines. Just pay a fine and go home.
There is no law against drunk drivers (DWI) or DUI in this country.
The other cause of accidents? Poorly lit streets and those zebra striped concrete barriers. Shouldn't they be yellow and black instead, and loaded with reflectors you can see a mile away? Good grief MMDA.
Is drug and urine testing necessary? Heck, NO! Corruption reigns at the LTO!
2 AnswersSafety1 decade agoWhat is the purpose of the Philippine Department of Energy?
This is a branch of government that has yet to prove itself. Thus far the DoE has only echoedthe sentiments of big oil companies. It has done next to nothing (completely silent) about ways to ease the oil price increase. It has not conducted research or studies on alternative energy (we submitted a proposal for it to hear us out and see the benefits of portable desalination plants as well as wind turbines and they have flatly turned down our offer). A nation surrounded by water has a water crisis. Go figure!
Our Filipino inventors have found ways to use H2O to power cars. Instead of supporting our inventors the DoE did nothing. Our inventors went abroad and gave the technology to another country. Now they are benefitting from it. What a bunch of crack pots these DoE guys are!
DoE officials sit in their airconditioned offices, wait for 5 o'clock to come around and head for the nearest bar. How useless is this department? Do we even need a DoE?
6 AnswersGreen Living1 decade agoWhy does the Philippine government make life difficult for every tax paying Filipino citizen?
delivery of basic goods and services-slow to nil. When you apply for a passport; When you apply for a drivers license, when paying your taxes (can you imagine the long lines?), when applying for a social security number, when securing a birth certificate, even the simple act of voting (The comelec ha a bad habit of losing your name from the voter's list each and every election period). Simple tasks made difficult by a lazy government, A bureacratic government riddled with red tape and corruption.
1. Why are there "fixers" willing to take money from you at the Dept. of Foreign Affairs when you apply for a passport? A: because the average Filipino spends hours, if not days, falling in line trying to secure a passport that should take no less than two hours.
2. Why are there "fixers" at the Land Transportation Office? A: regardles of the campaigns by government versus fixers they still exist and work inside and outside this graft riddled bureau.
The government is just INEPT.
4 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoShould the Philippine government be held liable for human rights violations?
Should the IMF-WB penalize and stop all loans granted to the Arroyo government unless it takes concrete steps to curb human rights abuses against peasant farmers, journalists, and student activists? Shouldn't the United States and the International community condemn the PGMA government and the AFP for its alleged involvement in human rights abuses and disappearances?
Since 2001 there are now a total of 887 victims. Forced disappearances, killing of journalists, student activists, farmers, and including 59 children.
As Filipinos, we easily forget and forgive. It is precisely this attitude that makes us weak as a nation. It is this non-commital, non-caring attitude that will turn the next generation of Pinoys from freedom fighters into slaves. Just wait.
4 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoDid the PNP botch their job in yesterdays Manila Pen adventure?
1. The PNP ground commander it seemed failed to apply general police procedures during the "coup" attempt by Trillanes and company at the Manila Peninsula Hotel. Upon reaching the area, he should have:
a) Cordon/sealed off the area to unlookers, bystanders and the media.
b) Remove media and other non-essential personnel from the scene.
c) Keep civilians away and at a safe distance from the scene
d) Establish communications with both hotel management as well as coup plotters
2. The PNP Ground Commander failed to establish communications with the hotel management at the onset that resulted in crisis mismanagement.
3. The PNP constantly "telegraphed" or announced their intentions to the media (Gen. Barias was interviwed all the time). They should have kept their plans to themselves so as not to alert the plotters.
The situation became critical with the presence of media in almost every corner of the hotel including media surrounding the plotters.
3 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoShould Senator Trillanes be removed from office for his latest adventure against the government?
It escapes intelligence why he would again organize a move against President GMA in a five star hotel. He already failed in this tactic when he holed up in Oakwood hotel a few years ago with several of his men. Didn't he have the smarts enough to see how foolhardy a move like this would be?
For starters, the Comelec should never have allowed him to run for public office considering he was still serving time for crimes against the Philippines, and was on trial by a military court for treason and rebellion.
Should Sen. Trillanes continue to hold or retain his postion? He should pay the price for his latest misadventure. He put the lives of many people, local and foreign guests of the hotel as well a media personnel at risk. He destroyed the image of the Philippines again, and we are now going to have to work triple time to re-build tourism after this misadventure.
The Manila Peninsula is the only Philippine Hotel recognized by The Leading Hotels of the World.
4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoShould we even bother to clean our waterways or rivers?
We have the most polluted river systems in the world, and what are we doing about it? There should be a concerted effort not just from government but from everyone. There must be responsibility and accountability.
People esp those who live along the creeks and river banks (including industries that line the rivers) must be held responsible for contributing to the demise of our waterways. Our laws must be tough and penalties severe. No more "slap on the wrist" penalties. There must be strict enforcement of laws.
Littering begins at home. It starts with the way you raise your children. Kung saraula ka therefore saraula din ang mga magiging anak mo.
I am sick and tired of people who yell and yet do nothing. The time to act as one nation is NOW!
Why shouldn't we be jealous of nations like Singapore and Japan? Because the people act as a unit and think of their nation first before themselves. The result: PROGRESS!
Our rivers can be a vital source for commerce and tourism!
