I am a writer and philosopher. In my books, I try to encourage people to free themselves from the prejudices of our society. I challenge people not to allow their thinking to be constrained by what happens to be popular at the time or by what society deems to be 'acceptable.' Some people might find my ideas offensive. I believe, however, that the willingness to question accepted ideas is the key to a brighter, more intelligent future. My website: http://imos.org.uk/
Is cannibalism morally wrong - and, if so, why?
9 AnswersPhilosophy8 years agoIsn't it both sexist and patronising to have separate sports competitions specifically for women?
Shouldn't women and men compete directly with each other? If women cannot compete at the top level, shouldn't they simply compete in lower leagues, just like everyone has to if they can't compete at the top level?

6 AnswersGender Studies8 years agoShould employees be allowed to discriminate when employers are not?
If an employee is legally allowed to discriminate and refuse, for example, to work for a female boss, then why aren't employers allowed to discriminate and refuse to employ females? Isn't this difference a clear example of discrimination?

8 AnswersLaw & Ethics8 years agoCould you be friends with a pacifist?
A genuine pacifist believes they should stand by and refuse to use violence even if their own children are threatened with torture, rape, mutilation and murder? Would you admire such a person or despise them?

4 AnswersPhilosophy8 years agoWhat age of consent would you be prepared to fully enforce?
In the UK, the age of consent is 16 and the age of criminal responsibility is 10. Therefore, if two 15-year-olds have sex with each other, they're both liable to be found guilty of rape and sent to prison for many years. Many people would consider this totally unreasonable and so our age of consent laws are rarely enforced.
If age of consent laws were to be strictly enforced, however, with rigorous prosecutions against anyone believed to have broken these laws, at what age would you set the age of consent?

Most people seem largely incapable of intelligent thinking? What do you think it is that gets in their way?
1 AnswerPsychology8 years agoWhat would be your definition of terrorism?
'One man's terrorist in another man's freedom fighter.' When people agree with their cause, they call them freedom fighters. When they disagree, they call them terrorists. Is there a way of defining terrorism that fairly distinguishes between the two, without reference to which side of a conflict they happen to be on?
5 AnswersCurrent Events8 years agoDoes UKIP's popularity mean that we ought to change our voting system?
UKIP is currently polling at more than 20% in the UK, but, if a general election were held tomorrow using our first-past-the-post voting system, it's entirely possible that they still wouldn't get any seats in Parliament. Can a country still reasonably call itself a democracy if a political party is supported by 20% of the electorate, but has no representation in Parliament whatsoever?
9 AnswersElections8 years agoDoes one-person-one-vote actually make any sense?
Why should a genuine expert in Politics or Economics get no more voting power than someone who is completely ignorant on these subjects and who hasn't even been bothered to find out what policies the different political parties support?

11 AnswersLaw & Ethics8 years agoWould Socrates get offered a job in a school today?
Socrates was one of the greatest teachers the world has ever known, but, if he were here today, what would his chances be of getting (and holding on to) a teaching job in a modern school?
9 AnswersPhilosophy8 years agoIs it wrong to use the word, 'Gaystapo'?
I oppose prejudice against gay people, but there are some homosexuals who want to take away people's freedom of speech and take away their right to express their personal opinions about homosexuality. They also want to accuse anyone who is critical of homosexuality of being 'homophobic.' Is it wrong to refer to these homosexuals as, 'The Gaystapo'?
