  • Sentencing for involuntary manslaughter?

What is the average sentencing for involuntary manslaughter? About how long does it take to do the hearing and questioning and everything before the verdict is given and the culprit is sentenced?

In cases of accidental manslaughter is there always a sentencing? Say a man fell asleep at the wheel, accidentally hit another mans wife and kills her, but the husband doesn t feel the need to press charges. Does the driver get off the hook? Or is there still a sentencing?

I guess I m just looking for someone to walk me through what happens in cases like these. And if anyone has any websites where I can find useful information, that would be great.

    Thanks!

  • Recovering a replaced document in Word?

I finished a document last night, woke up and saved it this morning. I had multiple documents open and I went back to make sure I saved it but I accidentally saved another document over it. There was a pop up asking if I wanted save over the original and I wasn't thinking and hit yes!

So for example (because I feel like I didnt explain that very well) I saved the document I wanted as 'reflection' and I came back a few minutes later thinking that I didnt save an updated version. So I took what I thought was the updated version (just a different scrap document) went to save as, hit 'reflection' and replaced the original with the scrap! Same file, same name, but the wrong document. Is there any way to recover the original? The version I saved first before I replaced it? I tried going to the recycle bin but I did not find it. I also tried right clicking but the 'restore previous' did not show up on the drop down box.

I am near tears. Please tell me there is a way to recover that first saved document!

  • Non fiction, historical reads, along the lines of David McCullough, Bill O'Reily and C.S. Lewis?

I'm Christmas shopping for a friend. He's very smart and reads a lot of history, religion, Christianity type books. Some of his favorite authors are listed above. He's mostly interested in religion and humanity. I really don't know how else to describe him, except for extremely smart; lots of knowledge about Jesus Christ, the founding of America, the bible and things like that. He's Mormon and Republican, if that helps.

    Other books he's read:

The Age of Reagan by Steven Hayward

Jesus the Christ by James Talmage

    Gospel Symbolism by McConkie

    Intelligent Design by Dembski

    Citizen Soldiers by Stephen Ambrose

I swear he has read every book there is, but any suggestions are welcomed! Thank you!

  • Need to write a check but I dont have a check book?

I need a new passport and when I made an appointment to get one they said that I would have to pay with a check. I have a checking account but no checkbook. I told the woman I could pay with cash but she said that wasn't an option. The bank I bank with dosnt have a branch out where I'm living right now, so I don't think I could get a cashiers check? Are there any other options?

  • Looking for unique, classic car?

I am planing on buying a car by the end of this year (hopefully by August) and I need some help. I'm looking for something classic and unique but also sturdy and at a reasonable price?

My dream car would be a 1969 Ford Mustang but realistically, that will probably not happen. I really love the classic American muscle cars but I don't have that kind of money (I'm looking for something under $10,000) and I need somethig for a daily driver.

I was thinking about a 1968-1975 VW Beetle? They seem hardy and they're definitely head turners.

I'm 21 and this is going to be my first car. While I'm very interested in cars, I'll be honest, I don't know a lot about them. Any advice is welcome. Thank you!

  • What POV is this?

I know what first, second and third POV is but I recently read a story where everything was written as he says, she walks, they look instead of he said, she walked and they looked. Is that third person present tense? Any information on what kind of POV this is and how to write it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • What happens if you have cancer but decide not to do chemotherapy?

Let's say you had kidney cancer and by the time you found out it was to late. The cancer was fatal and chemotherapy would only slow it down and buy you more time. What would happen to your body? Would it just start to deteriorate? Would it be painful? What would the symptoms be like? Would you die in your sleep or would it be more aggressive than that? What could the doctors do to make you more comfortable? How much time would you have?

I'm not asking for any reason other than I'm curious to know what the cancer would do to your body without chemotherapy.

  • Types of diseases that kill?

So I'm writing a story and I would really like this one character of mine to eventually die due to some type of disease but the only one I can really think of is cancer? I thought about letting him have some type of fatal leukemia without treatment but cancer seems really over used. I thought about epilepsy but it's a fairly manageable disease with medication so that's out.

Any ideas? Preferably a type of disease that has enough symptoms but isn't too violent, so my character won't be bed ridden throughout the whole story? Something that kills kind of swiftly? Any answers are greatly appreciated. Thank you

  • Book recommendations?

I need a new book read and I am open for suggestions. I'm usually into the classics, Lord of the Flies, The Giver, Of Mice and Men, Pride and Prejudice, 1984 and stuff like that but for once I'm looking for something light, but good. I've read Harry Potter, Hunger Games and enjoyed those. I'm considering the Olympians books? But they might be to young for me. I think I want something fantasy related? I don't know. I never know what I want hahaha. So suggestions? Your favorite books? A short description would be nice but not necessary. Thank you!

  • How to kill off this character?

So I really want to kill off my main character but I'm not sure how to go about doing it. I want to do it so that one character sort of accidentally kills the other character without realizing it. So they blame themselves. Like Inception, where Leo feeds his wife the idea of inception, which drives her crazy and then leads to her suicide. But he was completely innocent. Any ideas?

  • How to maintain rocker style while still dressing classy?

I figure my style is borderline rocker? Think, leather, muscle tee's, skinnies and combat boots. That kind of stuff. But Im in college now and I want to update my wardrobe style to something a little more mature and classy without loosing that tough rocker style. I just bought myself a faux leather dress that has a few studs on the shoulders. It's simple, a little elegant but still rockeresque. But I'm stuck after that. Can anyone help? Maybe, shops that would sell similar styles, Instagram accounts that I could use as a reference? Thanks.

  • Funny but harmless pranks for the apartment next door?

We are at war with the apartment next to us and we need ideas. We started the prank war by wrapping their apartment in cheap Christmas wrapping while they were gone over the weekend. We wrapped everything from their TV, to their couches, to their sinks. They got us back but hiding dozens of alarm clocks in our apartment and having them go off in the middle of the night. We retaliated by filling a kiddy pool with water and putting ducks in it and leaving it in their living room. No worries! We did it about 20 minutes before they got home and the ducks belonged to a friend of ours so we could return them safe and sound. It's their turn and then ours but we are fresh out of ideas. Anyone have a creative but harmless prank we can pull? Something elaborate without being mean and getting us evicted? Thanks

  • Evaluation paper topics?

I just need a list of topics for an evaluation paper we have to write for English. It's pretty much everything goes, so I'm looking for something interesting to write about. I have a bunch of ideas floating around in my brain but I would like a list for some inspiration and maybe to help me narrow down my topic. I considered doing my paper on the high school education system.

  • Which version of Les Miserables to get?

I grew up on the Complete Symphonic Recording so I've always had that but I just realized that they're missing a few little parts (like Enjorlas saying "Damn their warnings, damn their lies, we sill see the people rise") and some other things that I can't remember. So I thought that the Original London Cast would be nice but they're missing the second attack and Gavroche's death, right? Plus a few other things. The 10th Anniversary looks promising, should I get that? The 2010 cast also seems like it has everything but I did not like the singing in that version. So which version is complete? I might just be missing some songs but Im not sure. Anyone has a list of pros and cons on which recording of Les Mis to get?

  • Help with transferring iTunes from Mac to PC?

So I just got a new Windows PC laptop. All my songs are on my Mac. I need to put the songs in the Mac on the PC. I thought that I could just load them from my iPod but I ended up restoring my iPod to the default setting for the PC on accident. So that's out of the question. Could I load my songs from my Mac to my iPhone then to my PC? Or is there a way to transfer them straight from the Mac to the PC?

  • Versions of Les Miserables?

I need some help deciding which version of Les Miserables to read. Of course everyone says the original because, well, its the original. But lets face it, it can be dry. I have the complete unabridged version and I sometimes read my favorite parts but never the full book. Last year my English teacher gave me the ONLY version of Les Mis they had in the whole school, which was like the kindergarden version. There was so much missing that I didn't enjoy it. Nothing anything on Les Amis de l'ABC! Can you believe it?

Anyways, I'm looking for a version that is abridged but not to the point where it warps the story. I've only ever had my hands on the two extremes and I would like to find a nice medium. Is there a version like that that exists?
