She's really cut up about it. She's in seventh grade now and will have to wear them until the end of ninth grade. She thinks she won't be pretty anymore and no one will ever date her. ???

She's already had braces once, and she really was miserable about it the whole time. I wore braces for eight months when I was nine and nothing else since. She's been wearing headgear and retainers and other stuff since she was seven and she still needs to wear braces now. Invisalign won't do all the work she needs done.

How can I comfort her?

C just usually sits at lunch with me and A and B, but lately she's been leaving the table with no explanation. A and E really liked me when I was emailing them a lot, but then I got bored (most of the conversations were only random emoticons) and stopped emailing them as often. E stopped talking to me for the most part. A still sits with me but more and more often she doesn't appear at Brunch and instead stays with D and E. She also is missing through chunks of lunch, and has excuses like "I needed to return a book to the library." (She's also in a band with D and E which I'm not in.) B is really clingy and follows me around a lot of the time. She's getting on my nerves but she has basically no other friends, so I don't want to tell her how I feel so she'll be really hurt. I know for a fact that A really dislikes B, who sits at lunch with us, so is that the reason she's stopped sitting with me? I only recently met D through A and it was a blooming friendship until I stopped emailing A. Do you think A was complaining about me to D?

My goldfish is hiding in a corner hunched over. We've tried to take away the decorations around her, thinking she could be stuck, but she just floated around listlessly for two second and found a new hiding spot.
