s there a background-check website which is trustworthy and totally free?
I have some issues, and need to look up some peoples' backgrounds, but they suck me in until I get to the page that asks for payment. I believe we all have the right to know who is living amongst us, and has contact with our children, without having to pay for it.

I just got a new laptop with Windows 8, and I don't see any games on it.
1 AnswerSoftware9 years agoWhy won't my wireless devices connect to my WiFi?
I have been able to connect before, but since I was having trouble with my internet lately, I haven't been able to get my laptop or Kindle to connect. I was able to get my signal back after unplugging and rebooting several times, but now I'm unable to get my devices to work. My modem and router are showing that I do have a connection, but the devices are telling me that they are not connected. I've been through all the troubleshooting, and I'm really not crazy about calling tech-support. I'm thinking that it's something simple, since I am showing a strong signal.
I would greatly appreciate any help you could give me!!
2 AnswersComputer Networking9 years agoPrice of a Concrete Driveway...?
Does anyone have a ballpark guess as to how much a single-car, 80-foot driveway would cost in SE Michigan? I need the old one ripped out and replaced from garage door to street. I will call for estimates, but need to know about what to expect, because when you ask about price, they pressure you for a commitment.
Thanks for any help!
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoI'm not able to get an internet connection on my laptop.?
I was able to go online a couple of hours ago, but now it won't connect when I try over and over. My signal is strong, but nothing happens! Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong? Like I said, I was finally able to make it work a while ago (I am not very computer savvy), so why am I not able to get online with it now? Thanks for any help you could give me.
2 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks9 years agoI need to know how to find out what kind of car my ex is driving....?
After many appearances, and lots of legal fees, I was finally able to get a restraining order on my ex-husband. Before this, my co-workers and I often saw his car around my work, and I saw him driving through where I was living at the time. He has put gravel in my gas tank, slashed tires, and done dozens of other things to my car. I am still afraid of him, and need to know how to find out what kind of car he is driving now. I know that he had a lease on the one he was driving at the time, but that lease is up, and I'm sure he's driving a different car. I know his license plate number (at least the one he had at the time he was stalking me). I tried Google to get the information, but I just get the DMV, and general stuff about registering online, and things like that. I just want to know if he's driving by where I am now living, and what kind of vehicle to look for, so I can see who's driving it, and look for his license plate number.
And, no...I will not drive by his house. I don't want him to think I am trying to see any of his business. I just want to know if he's still stalking me, and what kind of vehicle to watch out for.
Thanks for any help!
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics10 years agoI need to know what to do about a clogged storm drain in my back yard.?
I didn't notice anything before buying the house, but when I moved in, there was a lot of snow on the ground. When it thawed, there was a lot of standing water. Then it rained (more water!), and then it snowed again. When it thawed, yet again, it was a total lake. Finally, it has receded to where I can go out and walk almost all the way across. Today, I noticed there was something round, and realized it was concrete. It must be a storm drain, and I didn't notice it before buying the house. Is this the city's responsibility? I live in Michigan.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWhat to put in a porcelain box...?
I saw for sale, in a department store, some cute little porcelain "boxes", approximately 5 3/4" square that I think would be a cute gift idea. The only problem is...what to put inside...? Any ideas? They look like gift boxes with lids (a porcelain bow on top). I was thinking, maybe bath salts, but I know that there are dozens of other things that could go inside.
I will so-o-o-o appreciate any creative ideas!
Thanks!
2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoCeliac Disease...Anyone Else have this?
I was attributing my symptoms to the antibiotics I was taking a couple of months ago, but the symptoms persisted for weeks after I was finished with the course.
I went online, and discovered that my symptoms pointed to Celiac Disease. For two days after my research, I have improved. I've stopped eating anything with wheat (or gluten).
Does anyone else have this disorder? And what were your symptoms?
I would appreciate any information you could give me.
Thanks!
2 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoHairstylists Only..Please!?
I have a client who came in for a touch-up. She is a natural level 8, and had approximately 1-1/2" new-growth. I went through the usual routine...kept it away from the scalp, then put it on the scalp to keep it from 'banding". I asked her what she used to get the level of blond that she was getting, and she said "Born Blond". I was not familiar with the product, but assumed it was just a run-of-the-mill Clairol product. Well, she also wanted black streaks on top, per her sister's suggestion. I complied, and made sure I slathered the rest of the hair with conditioner to prevent "bleeding" and off-tones. It was a disaster! The existing blond (not the mid-shaft, but several inches of the older hair) turned icy-greyish. She informed me that every time she colored her hair with the Born Blond, she ran it all the way to the ends.
After Googling and looking around on the internet, it appears that Born Blond is actually a bleach. She is coming in for a redo, and I haven't a clue what to do, or what to tell her. Her damaged ends will NOT grab any warmth, and she doesn't want to cut it (It's below shoulder-length).
Do you know what the ingredient are of Born Blonde? Like I said, all my research seems to indicate that's exactly what it it.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
1 AnswerHair1 decade agoA father and son are in a car accident......?
The father dies instantly. Later, as the son is wheeled into surgery, the surgeon takes one look at him, and says "I can't operate on this boy...he's my son!" Can you explain this?
And, no...there is no step-father.
5 AnswersInsurance & Registration1 decade agoHow Do You Get a Label off a Jar?

3 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoBug/mosquito-repellent for dogs......?
I am currently having my dog treated for heartworm. Although I will be giving her the preventative when the treatment is over, nothing is guaranteed. I want to either buy, or make a non-toxic (to her) repellent to keep the mosquitoes away from her, to further protect her from having this ever happen again. Does anyone know of an effective one that you have tried, or maybe you have a recipe for one that I can make.
Thank you for any information you can give me!
1 AnswerDogs1 decade agoHas anyone had a dog with heart worm?
My dog tested negative when I got her from the Humane Society in November, but now she's positive. She's barely a year old, now, and they said she must've had it already, but it was too soon to get an accurate reading then. I'm told that it takes about 6 months for it to show up in a blood test. I'd like to know if anyone has a happy-ending story to this particular disease. I am very attached to her, and I'm very worried. She's taking antibiotics right now, and at the end of this course of treatment, she will get some injections. I'm not looking forward to it!
Any words of encouragement for me?
