  • Bachelorette Party - can't afford it?

My college roommate (for 4 years) is getting married in August. I was disappointed that I wasn't invited to be in her wedding party, but I'm invited to the wedding, and the bachelorette party. The maid of honor has planned an extravagant bachelorette party in Boston (about 2 hours from me) including a full rental of a party bus, and expects everyone to chip in for the hotel, food (she wants to go to a fancy restaurant), drinks, gas, and parking. I added up the total cost of everything and it looks like it's going to be $100/person. I am hesistant to spend this much anyway, but especially on a party for someone who didn't even bother to invite me into her wedding party after being best friends for 4 years in college. Yet, I don't want to destroy our friendship. We hardly talk anymore, but I still consider her a friend & she has invited me to her wedding... but I just feel this friend is a money-drainer... she always has been.. she came from a well off family & I don't, she was always wanting to go out shopping, etc and I could never afford it...

Should I fork over the money and go to the party or decline to go & just attend the wedding? Is it rude?

  • My checks, debit card & ID were all stolen -- what do I do?

I panicked and went to the bank and closed my card today -- but what to do about the checks? I don't remember the check numbers (I hardly ever use them) so I can't put a Stop Payment on them.

I didn't know what to do, so to prevent anyone writing a huge check from my account, I opened a new account and transferred all but $30 into my new account.

What if the thief writes a check out now though and it bounces???? Will I have to pay the fine for the fraudulent check??? I'm just trying to protect my money. :( This is such a hassle.

  • Purse with picture ID was STOLEN -- got a paper replacement ID with no picture, can I still get into bars?

I am just at my wit's end. My purse was stolen last night - with my driver's license and state ID in it! My debit card, keys, and phone was stolen, too. I have been going out my mind all day canceling my cards, phone, and trying to get replacements.

The DMV/City Hall is closed until Monday. From their website, I was able to get a temporary driver's license issued on paper -- but it doesn't have a picture on it.

    I am 24 years old.

I am supposed to meet friends tonight - we were going to go out on the town and have a good time. I've been looking forward to it all week. I am so upset right now, because all my picture IDs were stolen, I'm afraid I cannot get into the bars with this temporary picture-less ID.

I have other picture IDs with my name on them -- from college, high school, and volunteering at a hospital when I was younger - but I don't know if I can use these with my temporary driver's license to get into a bar. I wouldn't even mind bringing my birth certificate or SS card, but I am very wary since I already had my stuff stolen, I can't afford to lose these things.

    I am in Maine.

Can anyone help? I would call the bars ahead of time, but my phone was stolen, too. :(

  • Are brands Liz Claiborne and Kathy Van Zeeland good or cheap?

I got a Liz Claiborne wallet and a Kathy bag at TJ Maxx - it said the bag was discounted from $89 (I got it for $32) -- I just want to know if these brands are good, cheap, or what.

Not interested in whether you think I got a fake or not.

  • Is retro 30s, 40s, 50s style too old for a 24 year old?

I love 30s, 40s, 50s style -- Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy -- I idolize these women and seek to dress in their styles; I was wondering though if it looked too old fashioned on a 24 year old woman?

I idolize Jackie Kennedy (Jackie O) and love her haircut but was wondering how to get that style and also if it'd look too old on a 24 year old. Ideas???

  • Should I stay or should I go? Pluto transiting my 5th House?

I've been in a relationship with a Scorpio Sun, Leo Moon, Virgo Rising for about three years. We've been living together for just over a year.

Recently, things have been going down-hill (he drinks a lot, is never home, works late, etc) and I cheated on him with another Scorpio. The affair was found out and now everything is up in flames.

There is a chance that we could re-build our relationship, or I have the chance to leave and start anew.

I am wondering what the best route for me is. We both have significant issues we'd need to work on, and I'm not sure if it's worth working out and forging a new path at this time. Transiting Pluto is currently conjunct my natal Sun-Venus-Neptune stellium in Capricorn/5th House, so all of this makes perfect sense -- I just don't know what to do from here.

Part of me says 'stay and work it out' and part of me says 'time to go, you don't know what's waiting for you'.

No lectures on how 'cheating is bad', please -- you're right, it is bad, I made a mistake and it's not how I should have handled my unhappiness with our relationship, but it happened.

  • Capricorn Sun & Capricorn Moon? Will this pair get along?

I am a Capricorn Sun, he's a Scorpio Sun with a Capricorn Moon.

Our Sun & Moon are conjunct in the synastry chart.

Seems good -- so far so good -- feels like a very stable person to me and I think we're surprising each other with our sanity (we've encountered so many crazies) --

    Opinions?

  • How is India a sexually repressed culture and also one of flashy/sexual dances, art, music, clothes, etc?

Please help me understand this -- it's a serious question -- I'm fascinated by India, but have never grasped the concept of how India -- a supposedly sexually repressed culture -- is also very outwardly expressive in art, dance, music, and clothing? For example, the major religion of India forbids sex before marriage, but yet India is full of sexually expressive art work, and the traditional dances are very provocative in nature (hips, midriff-showing clothing, etc) and even Bollywood is very sensual in nature (without actually being sexual; e.g., no kissing) -- I'm fascinated by this concept, but I cannot quite explain it very well, so I hope someone understands.

  • Cat is too affectionate, attached - has separation anxiety?

Hi all -- it seems every cat I meet besides my own has its own agenda and is perfectly independent, even a little cranky. Take my friend's Scottish Fold for example. Cranky, bitchy kitty who won't let strangers touch her -- she's skittish, unfriendly, scratchy and bitey.

My lovable 4 year old Maine Coon mix doesn't think he's a cat. I think he thinks he's a dog. He will let strangers pick him up, hold him, pet him, rub his tummy -- anything. He's always in my face giving me kisses, jumping on my lap, rolling over for belly rubs -- even the vet says he's the most friendliest cat she's ever seen.

The problem is that he suffers from separation anxiety and meows incessantly and is prone to ripping out his belly hair when my partner and I are both at work. We love him very much and have tons of toys and even leave the TV on for him sometimes for noise, but it seems he's very attached to us.

What can we do to break the anxiety so he'll stop ripping out hair?
