Bleeding at 7 weeks pregnant? Help!?
My friend is 7 weeks pregnant (her first pregnancy) and started bleeding, a light to medium flow which started brown and turned to red. A week later her HCG levels are still high and still having pregnancy symptoms. She's bled for 5 days, a light flow, but still feels pregnant. She is going to the doctor Monday. Has anyone had an experience with this? Bleeding early in pregnancy?
6 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoI'm almost 2 weeks late on my period, and am on the pill. What are the chances of getting pregnant?
My husband and I have an 11 month old son and I've been taking basic birth control pills since he was about 3 months old. I take them every day (I did miss one or two several months ago), but now am quite late for my period. Has anyone gotten pregnant on the pill? I don't think I'm that fertile, as it took us a year to conceive our first child with lots of trying.
2 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWho else hates Hank Williams Jr. after his performance at a McCain rally? ?
We had always liked him from the outlaw country movement in the 70s, but after seeing his twisted version of 'Family Tradition' on a televised campaign rally for McCain, we deleted his songs from our computers!
8 AnswersElections1 decade agoDoes anyone see similarities in what McCain represents & the oppressive force in Pink Floyd's 'The Wall'?
The similarities are striking, and to be honest, quite terrifying. I can see why Roger Waters is an Obama supporter!
Any thoughts?
6 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow was your autistic child as an infant? 10 month old showing signs?
I need a bit of help from any parents or people who have known autistic children. My son is 10 months old and he is a very serious baby. He was extremely oversensitive to everything from the time he was born (sounds, touch, everything made him scream for hours on end). He did not start smiling until he was 5 or 6 months old. Even now, a smile is a rare thing from him. When in public, he does not react to other people cooing or trying to play with him (stone blank face, and pulls away when touched). If we have visitors over and they smile at him, he turns away and hides his face, then fusses to go back to his crib, where he plays alone all evening. He has always seemed to prefer playing in his crib, in his room with the door closed than to being outside with us. He makes eye contact but there are times when he refuses to and will not look at you no matter how hard you try (retreats within his shell, it seems). He also has a terrible temper and pitches screaming fits several times a day. He does not like to be touched much - he jerks his hands away and cries if you wipe his face, and pulls away if you try to snuggle him. This is not all the time, but most of the time. Also, the times he has been around other children/babies, he avoids interaction with them and will not smile or show any emotion - once when a little girl tried to hand him a toy, he jerked back as if she were trying to prod him with a branding iron.
My mom suddenly thinks he may be autistic to a degree, but my husband and I think he's just a super-serious, extremely shy baby. I read that children aren't usually diagnosed until age 3, but I wanted to know what other people think, who have experience with this issue.
It has been tough for me as a first-time mom. His lack of emotion and seemingly unhappy or discontented nature is difficult to say the least. Now that he's 10 months old I thought he would be more interactive and playful.
Also, he doesn't babble very much. He's super quiet (hearing is perfect though, from hospital tests when he was born). Rarely babbles or makes sound (other than the frequent screaming tantrums). Once in a rare while I can get him to try and mimic something I repeat to him, but this is rare. When he does make sound, it's either screaming, grunts or 'Duh duh duh duh' (the latter not being too common).
Please let me know your concerns...as I know it's way too early for a doctor to diagnose him or anything.
10 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoDid you smoke pot while pregnant, and how did your baby turn out personality-wise?
I'm just curious. I smoked for years but quit once I became pregnant, and it was stressful for me - and our baby is colicky with a horrible temper. Maybe coincidence, I have no idea, but it makes me wonder - for those of you that did, how were your children? Mellow or did it not seem to affect them?
5 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoMoms of colicky/fussy/high needs babies, how did they turn out? Help!?
We are first-time parents and our son is almost 9 months old. He is healthy and big, never been sick, but he was colicky from the day he was born. While he doesn't scream for hours anymore for seemingly no reason, he still has 2 or 3 good screaming fits a day, what seems like a horrible temper. He is not particularly needy, but just seems to be impatient and easily gets upset if things don't go his way (which seems to be all the time, haha). This can be very frustrating!
He's really smart and ahead for his age, but he doesn't smile a lot and is super-serious, analytical, pensive, and very quiet other than the screaming fits (not crying, but screaming as in a rage).
Any help?
7 AnswersParenting1 decade agoBathtub and toilet backed up when washing machine drained - help?
We rent in a mobile home and my husband says they have smaller pipes so you have to be more careful. Once in awhile the toilet will back up when flushed, but goes down no problem with the plunger. The night before last I took a bath and it wouldn't drain, and the toilet wouldn't go down either. It slowly drained and in the morning I put Draino down the tub drain; it worked fine.
THEN today I ran the washing machine and as it drained the tub backed up with stinky toilet water, and the toilet did as well. I worked the plunger on the tub for 20 minutes and it has been slowly going down (all but drained now).
I'm going to get some more drain cleaner (stronger stuff this time) but was wondering if there is anything else I can do. I lose a lot of hair down the drain, wash my hands a lot and take 3 or 4 soapy baths a week - could this be causing it?
We have a septic system but since everything is draining I don't think it is full, just that we have a big clog somewhere. Any suggestions?
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoFor women and moms: What helped you lose weight most?
I'm the mom of a 9 month old and have found myself weighing 248 pounds! I weighed 241 before I got pregnant, BTW - my weight has slowly increased over the past few years even though I drink only water (lots of it) and eat pretty healthy.
I'm getting motivated to lose weight - what helped you most? (apart from gyms etc - we live out in the country)
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness1 decade agoIs there a way to find out your visual acuity without consulting your optometrist?
I had an eye exam today - all I know is that my new contact prescription for my left eye is -7.00, and for the right it's -6.50. The doctor said because of a previous retinal macular hemorrhage I can't achieve 20/20 vision even with correction. I also have slight astigmatism.
Does anyone somehow magically know the answer here?
2 AnswersOptical1 decade agoWhat is my visual acuity based on my contact lens prescription of -7.00?
I forgot to ask the optometrist today...my new contacts are -7.00 and was wondering how that translates in terms of vision (20/20-wise).
Any suggestions are appreciated.
3 AnswersOptical1 decade agoWhat are some good alternatives to selling on eBay?
Ebay's new policy changes have resulted in a huge drop in sales - the biggest I've seen in my 10 years of selling on there. Many sellers speak of selling on other sites, but the few that I can find seem to not be worth the time.
What are these sites? Does anyone else sell online?
I sell antique jewelry...
4 AnswersSmall Business1 decade agoHow long does it take for 1-800-Contacts to ship? ?
I am thinking of ordering my contacts via that route when I have my eye exam next week. But I don't know which is quicker - having the eye doctor order them from their source or having 1-800-Contacts do it. Has anyone else used them? How long did it take?
I need them ASAP, all of a sudden my sight has failed so quickly that I have horrid headaches...
5 AnswersOptical1 decade agoDo you have Bose computer speakers? Are they worth it?
We're getting another computer soon and are thinking about getting them, since we listen to tons of music on the computer and don't have an actual stereo system.
How is the sound? Is it worth the price? (around $200)
10 AnswersOther - Electronics1 decade agoWhat's the longest your cat ran away or stayed out for?
One of our cats has been 'out' for nearly 48 hours now. She did this last week also but was only gone for 24 hours then. She is spayed and loyal, but incredibly adventurous/curious. We live way out in the country, with an abundance of mice and critters.
I can't help but worry about her...she sleeps by my side every night!
10 AnswersCats1 decade agoDo you know of any helpful mantras or techniques to help get through a panic attack?
I have had panic disorder on and off for 12 years now - I go for a few months with little trouble and then I have several months with daily panic attacks. I've been on Xanax for 8 years for it, but don't like to depend on it.
In the past I had found that repeating mantras at the onset and during an attack helped me more than anything, provided I had no distractions.
Does anyone know of some good ones? My panic attacks are triggered by a fear of dying, ever since I went into anaphylactic shock at age 14 because of an allergic reaction. (the symptoms of a panic attack are the same, so it's a vicious unending cycle!!)
9 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoWhen did you conceive/have your second child? Is there a better age to do it at?
Our son is 8 months old, and now we think that we'd like to give him a sibling. We want to wait until he is at least walking around and hopefully potty trained though.
My sister and I were exactly 2 years apart, and it worked out very well. I'd like for our son to have a sibling so they can play together etc. I've known only children that have had a hard time because of it.
From your experience what do you think is the best age difference?
3 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoWhat makes a dog want to dig?
I know other behaviors are enforced by generations of breeding to perform a specific task, such as retrieving, herding, pointing, etc. What is it that makes some dogs want to dig, dig, dig? Are they after something?
8 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhat are the microwave directions for Kraft Mac n' Cheese, boxed?
I was just about to fix a box of the Kraft White Cheddar mac n' cheese but noticed there were no microwave directions on the box. I remember from other times I'd bought it it had those instructions as well, but this box is designed differently and doesn't have it.
Can anyone tell me (if you know by heart, or happen to have a box in your cupboard)?
4 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoAren't there too many Jonas Brothers questions on here? ?
Geez, it's like every other question is some tween asking how she can marry a Jonas brother, get their phone number, have their baby, etc.
Wouldn't you think that these girls would look at the million other just as stupid questions about the Jonas Brothers and realize how ridiculous they are?
