Upgrading to new computer..how to keep old programs?
I'm getting a new computer and don't want to have to install 50+ programs again. Is there a way to ghost my harddrive and put it into my new computer keeping all my current settings...etc.? My drive is < 50% full, so I can make an image. I know I can't just put the drive into the new computer because all the drivers won't work and probably BSOD.

2 AnswersSkin Conditions1 decade agoHow do we get Yahoo! answers to update their search page?
Their Advanced search page is terrible. I want to be able to sort by date, number of answers...there's just so much more they could do.
2 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoHow did Jesus die for our sins? Doesn't look like he had a choice.?
Wasn't he killed. I don't understand how he died. It's not like he had a "threw himself on a grenade" death. Also, if he knew he was going to Heaven (back to "Dad"), that doesn't seem like such a sacrifice... he didn't leave behind a wife or children.
Please explain why I should care about this death.
39 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWho else thinks answers.yahoo.com point system is bad?
I think if someone gets best answer it should be based on the number of replies. A best answer should certainly be worth more than just randomly answering 5 questions (i.e. 5*2pts) that get no response.
6 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoWhat protection do answers.com users have against lawsuits?
If we answer questions, are we liable? Does the terms and conditions of this site's use limit the "asker" from going after the "answerer" if the "asker" takes the "answerer's" advise and something bad happens?
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoAre people oblivious to how difficult programming is?
I see so many questions like: I want to write a website ... where to start? Knowledge of the web, interface, databases,...etc.
Programming isn't what it use to be like in the old days, now there are so many layers to learn. It takes YEARS to be good enough to write your own website that could do anything beyond simple HTML/javascript.
Anyway, the question is more rhetorical than anything else...

23 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow fast is your SATA 3Gbps Hard Drive?
How many MB/sec are you getting on an Intel Desktop?
Can you test something like a 1GB file from one drive to another and to the same drive?
I do alot of I/O and would like to decide if it's worth it to buy a new computer or just upgrade my I/O capabilities.
I did testing without defragging first with large movie files.
(you can test eSATA if you wish).
If you could specify your CPU and memory config.
I have a p4 HT@ 3.15ghz with 1GB RAM using ASUS P4C800.
NTFS file systems on windows XP sp2
I want to upgrade, but get some general ideas on how much the disk will increase.
I have an internal serial ultra ATA 250mb and an external 320mb USB2.0 drive.
Some numbers to benchmark against (no cacheing of files)
USB2.0 to itself: 8-10MB/sec
internal SATA to USB2.0: 19MB/sec
USB2.0 to internal SATA: 26 - 28MB/sec
internal SATA to itself: 14-15MB/sec
Thanks

7 AnswersMovies1 decade agoDo Yahoo!Answer users don't know about google???
I am sometimes amazed at the questions that are asked that are so easily answered with a simple search of google or wikipedia.
Are they:
1) lazy
2) just like to interact with people thru yahoo@answers
20 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoRiddle: Three guys go to a hotel?
The room costs $30/night and they will be staying for just that night.
They each chip in $10 and pay the manager and go up to their room.
The Manager calls the room and asks one of them to come down.
One of the men goes down and the Manager says, "I forgot we had a discount for today, the room in only $25. Here's your change".
The Manager gives him 5 $1 bills in change.
The man thinks. Hmmm, I'll just tell my buddies we got a dollar back each. So, he puts three dollars in his hand and 2 in his pocket.
He goes back up and tells his version of the story. He gives the other two guys their dollar bill.
Therefore, they each paid $9, instead of $10.
So, if they each paid $9 and he has $2 in his pocket, where did the other dollar go?
